New Camcorder + Easy transfer + Legos = This topic To start off, I know many of you have read me say that I have a gigantic tub of Legos that need sorting before I can continue. To justify this, I shall now show you the pile of unsorted Legos: Next up, when I was first trying out my camcorder, I had my adventurers all in running poses. One of them ended up falling over, and my brothers girlfriend asked if they were lynching the fallen over guy. This lead me to pose my Pirate crew lynching Jose, the mexican immigrant worker* i use to build all my Lego stuff: * I am not racist in any way. I simply find the lego mexican construction worker I recently got amongst a bulk lot of Legos to be very, very amusing. Mom named him Jose. So far, this is all I have built of Port Cochraine: Part of an inn that is under reconstruction so I can put the doors on properly, and a bridge. Aaand all I have built of my Spanish privateer, the Alcatani. I am constantly adding, removing, and rebuilding, trying to get it to look as good as possible. The inner hull: The pile of ship parts that makes up the core stuff of the rest of her: Last but not least, the scallywag crew that'll man her. I intentionally built them to look like a rabble that was dregged from a pirate port. The story is that her origional crew is mostly dead at the hands of a sea-monster, and Pirazzo was barely able to coax her back to a port all by his onesy. It is currently being rebuilt at drydock. Three things should be noted: A: In the center, clad in green, is her captain, Pirazzo Miragliano. B: As of the time of the photograph, her second luitenant has gone MIA. He is dressed exactly like the first guy to Pirazzo's left. C: I plan on replacing this crew with entirely Conquistadors eventually. Well, thats all for now - Enjoy!

I regret not infiltrating your garage and stealing about 80 of those boats :P Anyway, the only deal I regret not getting was this one combo deal for a Muaka and Kane Ra and a pair of Nui-Jaga on eBay for $50. I cant find either set now for less then $100, much less both of them :-/

Last week sometime my hands blistered all to ruttin hell for no adequetly explored reason - They're only really starting to heal now. I'm talking about giant multiple-finger-joint spanning blisters - I was down to typing with two fingers when I wrote that last note. I can type with both hands now but its mildly painful.

will post an in depth response when my hands heal

... CRAP! That was a Typo, mate :P Kanohi, Kanohi, Kanohi... And yes - I have essentially quit BZP because I hate having to deal with the Target Auidience - AKA, 10-year-olds screaming in bad english about how great the Barraki are and hanging on to every wittle wurd GregF has to say. -

Question about medival doors
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn replied to Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn's topic in LEGO Pirates
Aye, i'd use green doors, but sadly, I havnt gots any of them :/ There is no where near enough space back there to put a proper cabin, so yes, its for looks only - that giant open space is, IMHO, one of the biggest flaws in the stock set. -

Once you have them on the figs, it shouldnt really be noticiable, I would think... -
How much are you spending on pirate Lego
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
Currently, none. All my (miniscule) funding is going in to completing my Bionicle collection first. However, for each new ship I want to build, I need to buy the hull, boats wheel, anchor, cannons, masts, sails, rigging, and on and on and on :P -

At least your collection isnt like mine - Its been experiencing heavy play and tons of dust for nigh-on 8 years now ;) Im ashamed to build with them, they're so dirty! :P -

Question about medival doors
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn replied to Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn's topic in LEGO Pirates
Because I have always regarded that big opening under the quarterdeck as one of the sets major flaws. Since the space is too small to do anything with, I am simply walling it off with a door so that it LOOKS like theres a cabin back there. -

Ach - No, not bad at all for a WIP. We're in the same boat, per se - I only have half a ship and half a tavern built so far :P Anyhow, some tips that I know just from experience: If you're using a baseplate, take advantage of it. Think of creative ways to use it. Unlike how Lego portrays them, real forts were mighty nigh-on unassailable structures. STRONG! BOLD! Those should be your thoughts in everything you build. Now, onto the MoC itself: All MoCs start with the baseplate, and your dock setup doesnt look half bad - Particularly how you covered over the (annoying) hole in the ground. Your sense of factions is strong, too - Very good, as mocs that make no real distinction between factions are rather.... irksome :P The dock itself is a fairly good, straightforward design, but I would advise a lot more detail to the under-structure. Since you arent using wood, it would obviously be made of stone, and, due to the era, would be a bit more... "flashy" then straight block pilings. I suggest arches under the docks. Now, im not trying to tear you up or anything, but the tower has to be the weakest part of this so far - I strongly suggest heavily rebuilding it. Like I said - Strong! Bold! So small a fort would have to be very compact, so tight spacing is fine. However, the tower looks like it would shatter with a single cannonball. Keep strategic signifigance in mind - would they really need that railing halfway up it, or would they simply brick the damn thing over? I suggest increasing the overall size of the tower. While I oppose having a cannon at the top, it would be workable with a much larger tower top. Take your average cannon into concideration: It needs room to be aimed, recoil, be releoaded, and then hauled back to fire again. The area up there is simply too small :/ Furthermore, replacing the rat lines with a real stairway might also help the overall feel - They would be needing to run gunpowder, wads, cannonballs, and everything else up to this unless they kept all that up there. When modeling cannons, concider that they will need these supplies as well as at least 3 people to man them at all times. Either way, the tower needs to be larger :) As for The Plank - There is only one confirmed case in all of History where a Pirate was actually made to Walk the Plank. Furthermore, the Bluecoats would not be sentancing a PIRATE to walk the plank - A really cool thing to see, though, would be a gallows or a guioteine in the middle of this MoC! So, for overall feel, I'd have to advise the removal of the plank in the final version :/ Though the sharks are enough to make it cool for now ^_^ I've always loved making scenes, and I will compliment you now on yours - It really tells a story, even with so basic a MoC! The only remaining part is the back wall, but I will refrain from commenting on it until I see pics of the finished MoC :) Welcome to the forum, enjoy your stay, and keep building! -

LEGO these days isn't "All That"
Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn replied to ukdevilz's topic in LEGO Pirates
It was my opinion that Lego System was essentially lost around 2001. Bionicle remained the last holdout until 2005 - Now it is utterly ruined as well. So yes, I agree with you. -
As can be observed in this image, where the double medival doors meet up they meet up perfectly. No overlap, no gaps, no nothing. So here is my question: How does one get those doors to do that? I am attempting to install doors like this on MY Armada Flagship, but am incapable of getting them to meet up. The doors are about 2 and a half nubs wide, whereas they need to be 3 nubs wide to meet up. I have tried everything I can think of to get them to work, but nomatter what, they either have an overlap or a 1-nub wide gap (the 1 nub actually being taken out of half of 2 nubs) Can anyone tell me what the trick is to getting these doors to line up? As I recall, I have NEVER been able to get them to work. Thank you, - Helden

True, but you people are forgetting that this is no-longer TLC's official "feel". The generic Shoot-em-up feel is what they are going for, becaues that is what the "target audience" wants.
