  1. bitterly cold here in denmark, just like ice planet hoth, so we have stayed inside the house all day and builded on our echo base. so here some updated pictures. ligths on: crane for the snowspeeder added lots of small detsils and my son loves to play with the base working on a new and bigger ion canon, still need to work on that one, i have had much difficulties building a ball the power generator for the protective shield the mountain side beside the moving gates, have added some with slopes so no studs can be seen hope you like it
  2. sorry, only a picture of the whole Yavin temple, but you can see the ceremony room in top of the building. Hope you find the picture usefull, maybe you can use some of the wall details for your MOC and a "close up" of the ceremony room
  3. ahhh niiiice the yavin ceremony, please show more pics when your done. and is it the death star hangar at the right
  4. here you go some pictures from the ROTS chapter
  5. watched the empire strikes back some days ago and the icecutter is actually in the movie. in the scene where the rebels are getting resady for the batlle just outside the base you can see it in a second or two.
  6. will shoot some ROTS pics later on
  7. Received this book some days ago, and find it great, lots of detailed drawings. So here is a "smal" review hope you find it usefull. facts: Title:Star Wars Complete Location Subtitle: Inside the worlds of the entire Star Wars Saga Written by: Kirsten Lund, Simon Beecroft, Kerrie dougherty and James Luceno Illustrated by: Richard Chasemore and Hans Jensen Author: DK publishing First release: 2005 Pages: 175 Language:english Measures:35.5 cm x 27.5 cm x 1.6 cm Weight : 1507 gram ISBN:0756614198 The book is with hardcover I could write a lot about this book, but I think its better to post some pictures (pictures sometimes says more than words) The book is full of very nice illustrations of starships, locations and more. the book covers all the 6 episodes of the movies, each episoode has its own chapter. I think the book will be rather usefull if you plan to build big Star Wars MOCS or need inspiration. well here is some pics: Nice overview of the books contents planet overview naboo overview and this is what its all about: very detailed illustrated with lots of comments and explanations a very nicely detailed Theed hanger illustration. and its get better there are several pages that is folded so when you fold them out the illustrations cover 4 pages Mos Espa arena chapter batlle of Geonosis shows the vehicles and forces used by the republic and the seperatists overview of the Curuscant batlle every chapter/episode has a picture from the movie (this is the chapter i like the most :-) and again you can flip the pages so the entire illustration is 4 pages at the end of the book a good index this is an awesome book, havent read the text at all the illustrations does all the work. My son have spent hours watching the illustations and i must admit i have done that to. so its a book both adults and kids can enjoy therefore i will rate it 10/10 if you like the pictures go buy the book, you wont regret. found mine used cheap at amazon.com, but can be bought from new at several online stores who ships to every part of the world like ww.buecher.de eur23.95 and bookstore.co.uk £ 24.99 hope you find this small review usefull.
  8. great review. the review made me want this ship, thank you
  9. the at-at is the motorized one. and i use several sellers on bricklink.com to find what i need, i use a lot 2x2, 2x3, 2x4 2x8 and 2x10 i try to place orders with sellers that has a lot listed, usually buy no less than 1000 pieces each time. maybe their bricks are a litlle more expensive but i save that on shipping. actually it has been a lot more difficult finding white bricks the last 2 times i have placed orders. im not sure about the roof, a roof would be great, but without a roof the play value is better for my son. Think i will make 1/4 of the base roofed. Are also planning to have some led lights at the roof, so somekind of roff we need to build.
  10. niiice probe droid, first step for your echo base??
  11. our next step is to build a new ion canon for the base, we did build one sometime ago, but im not satiesfied with how it turned out, so will make a rebuild. further more we have some of the bricks for the shield generator power supply so that will be builded soon to. and ofcourse a wampa cave is a must to. will also get some of the new batllepacks, but mainly for the minifigs. I cant figure out if there should be snowtroopers and snowtrooper speeder bikes on the base batllefield(i dont see any in the movie) any good advice will be appriciated. and yes no echo base without at-at (actually one of my favourite sets and one of the first bigger sets we purchased and got us hooked on lego star wars)
  12. yes sure, no hoth base without a falcon I have no idea what the cost so far has been, but i think we have spent 8000 bricks so far. and think we need 5000 more. for the floor alone we have to use almost 800 2x10 white plates. the led lights are easy to fit the cheese-slope grill, but you will have to drill some holes in the legobricks. i have used some 2 mm blue 3 volt led lights bought on ebay, think price for 50 pcs was less than 6 euro, have spent hours fixing the wires, its not easy with big hands right now we are working on the ion canon and the shield generator power supply. and yes the pictures isnt to good, but i rather spent my money on lego than a new digital camera
  13. i like the new sets, we dont have the "old" ctt so we gonna buy the new one. We usually dont buy cw lego, so its very nice seing slave 1 and palpatines shutlle. Great that lego still do some nice star wars sets. the wampa attack looks bad, i need the wampa for our echo base but dont need a white snowspeeder
  14. my son has been home sick with a cold the last couplle of days, so we have had plenty of time to build more on the base. received 1200 white bricks and some led lights the other day, those has been added to the base. Now we dont have anymore bricks left so soon we have to visit bricklink again. used 500 white plates for the floor. and think we need 300 more. well hope you enjoy heres is a picture more pics and closeups here enjoy
  15. I think it worked out pretty well, sure some adjustments to be done, but playvalue is ok ;-) my son loves it. Here take a look
  16. i dont quit understand your question, but i used a 2 mm blue 3v led light.(the led ligt has a cape around so it fits nicely) drilled out a 2 mm hole in r2d2s head and placed the led light inside the headpiece. the wires is placed inside the body of the r2d2 and comes out behind him. im sure its possible to place 2 1.5 button cells inside r2d2s body so you totally can hide batteries and wires. received 1200 white bricks for our echo base some days ago and hopefully we will find time to build the comming week. my intention is to place a lighted r2d2 on the base further more the r2d2 head should be "turnable" i will shot some pics during the progress upload the pictures to my photobucket and post the link here. english is not my mother language so maybe pictures will be better than explaining.
  17. see my fingers on the picture, they are holding the wires to the 2 cell buttons batteries, so no switch, but im sure that r2d2 body can hold a switch and the cell buttons in the body.
  18. this is the first prototype, will try to build one with turning head, and build in light for the base we are building. Im pretty sure i got an idea how to do it, but those led lights are only 2 mm wide and my fingers are to big
  19. received some more bricks for my echo base some days ago and today the led diodes for the landing light arrived fun to work with.now we are working on some prototypes for the lights but had some fun with a r2d2 minifig to. i know the pic is a litlle blury but will shoot a better pic ones the final version of the lighted r2d2 is ready.
  20. when i click the link for the instructions i can access it, i dont have permission, how do i get permission??
  21. love it, especially the cart. will show my son the picture and hopefully he can figure out how to build it
  22. hi Pedro (and others) think it will be a year before we are done with the base. my son is talking about that we should build the batlle of endor and i would so much like a r2-d2 "running" around the house. Guess a r2-d2 will be build from lots of technic and mindstorms parts so that has to wait for my son gets a litlle older (he is 7) Its important to me that my son and i build this together, so we help eachother out, the motorized gates and the pneumatics on the ion canon is mostly done by me but i have learned that my son seeing me build is educating to him (so while i worked on the pneumatics he builded the vacum hose loading r2-d2 to the x-wing.) the pneumatics are very fun to use and very educating, to bad lego doesnt make set with pneumatics anymore. the Motorized doors where lots of troublle and first time we tested them they "pushed" tha base apart, the build in clutch made the trick the custom turrets and small canon i couldnt figure out to build myself, but a very talented guy in australia had the ones on the base for sale on ebay so the ones one the base isnt builded by me. thank you all for your nice comments. btw my base is no way close to scale but cant be any bigger, we simply dont have the space for it
  23. Yes im the lucky father My son lukas got his first star wars set last christmass, an anankin starfighter, for several years we have collected disney cars diecasts but he has outgrown cars and, thanks good, lego took over. bought some more sets for him and i was pretty impressed with his skills building lego. so i figured why not build something special. so we started building on the rebel base early spring. the first MOC was way to small and we rebuilded it several times. found some cheap xwings and snowspeeders on ebay and found out we needed a millenium falcon to. when we builded that one, once more we had to make the base bigger so the falcon could fit in, and we ended up with the base on video. Lukas(my son) and i had a wonderfull time building the bigger sets so before we knew it we were working on the motorized at-at, the imperial star destroyer and more. so havent builded on the base for some time. christmass is big here, so we will be pretty busy building lego, im the brickfinder and he is the builder. but when we are done with the xmas sets we will continue on the base. Lukas has started talking about what we shall build after we are done with the base and has suggested the batlle of endor.
  24. The echo base is done. some pictures here. would like to add tiles and a roof. but playvalue is better without roof and tiles. have added some more ledlights at the roof. the base topview front with the motorized doors working doors to the command center the command center bacta room tauntaun room more pictures/slideshow and small videos of the working functions here:
  25. Hi all lego star wars fans. new on this board, but just a small introduction. found this board when i searched for new lego sets 2010 and woow a community for fellow star wars collectors showed up. bought a anakin fighter last year for xmas presnt for my son last year and now we are going for a full collection (have all the time in the world;-) this xmas the endor set, home on, tantive lv, venator class ship and more will be under the xmas tree so we are pretty hooked on lego. when we have time and cash we are building on our echo base hoth "diorama" i dont know how to post a picture but heres a link to a youtube video. hope you like it. on my youtube you will also find a slide show of our rescent trip to legoland in denmark. no need to post all the lego sets we have but a friend picked me up this special one
