  1. This is kinda awesome, though the mixing of figure parts is really kinda strange marketing strategy. I didn't really expect new prints and moulds, thought it'll be just a variation of the Vintage series, so Lego really has surprised us this round. Can't wait for it to come out and like you guys have all mentioned, hopefully its not to expensive.
  2. Wow. The new pics do look awesome. And regarding the emperor's shuttle, do anyone think there is a possibility of getting those blue commando guards from the venator set? Hopefully a much cheaper way to obtain those figs.
  3. Very eye pleasing and looks fantastic. Like how you made the back seat to suit the clone's helmet. Quite smoothly built i find.
  4. I don't think the Wampa will be the size of Castle troll. More like the size of the new power miners rock monsters. The ones with flippy arms, not the king. That should be the correct scale, comparing it to the current Tauntaun. But i think its still a must buy set, if it does come out.
  5. Well, we are all speculating what the brickmaster set contains and also discussing whether its OT or CW and if so, what. Regarding the droids (B1 or B2s) , its just that they are not as posable as the normal minifigs due to legs being joined together. Its kinda stiff looking, difficult to display motion. Woah. and mini malevolence does sound really huge for the brickmaster set, but at least it would have a good story.
  6. Having a droid brickmaster would be kinda weird, after all, a droid can't do much. I'm vainly hoping that it may be an ewok/scout trooper theme instead of a boring old usual storm vs rebel. (At least endor themed or something, which has a lot of possibilities.)
  7. But it should be easy to change the bus seats I think, could always use the bench from the Minifig set.
  8. Interesting blog. Just bookmarked it to the list of websites I check every time I use the internet! Do keep it up and keep posting!
  9. Thanks for the news drdavewatford and Navy Trooper Fenson! Its really exciting as some of the current Brickmaster sets are good but I don't think i'll be able to get them. The pirate and castle sets already cost Fifty dollars here in Singapore and the price per brick is not worth it despite the many building possibilities offered.
  10. I find that we shouldn't really start complaining about the new themes so early. I'm not really a Bionicle fan, but one has to admit that the theme has had much good designs (esp the first few gens) and are great for display. The Bionicle theme has also provided many parts for MOCs. Looking at the Ben 10 line, the pricing is about the same as Bionicle, few technic parts for a lot of dough, but hasn't that been the usual technic pricing? The mini technics in Singapore already cost 20 dollars. Looking at all the kids around, I'm quite sure this theme will do well. After all, its rather common to see kids bugging their parents to buy Bionicle for them. Lego is going with the "Easy build, much playability" policy and if it works for Bionicle, there shouldn't be any reason to change it in Ben 10. Another reason Ben 10 will appeal to kids will also be the combination models thingy, which has sold quite a number of wave 1 lego miners sets. I've often heard one of the many reasons kids give their parents to get them lego is combination models. Besides, there are many new parts for us to experiment with next year if we consider getting them.
  11. After seeing all these pictures, I'm pretty excited about the theme, especially for the Soldiers! The Jeep looks great, though I wonder what one would do with the base plates for the figs for some people who don't want them. The sets that are gonna be released for the Toy Story 3 movie sound exciting too! Time to start saving cash! (Btw, does that mean the designers for the sets have already seen the Toy Story 3 movie?)
  12. Hurm. According to my local shop, Indie Jones hasn't been selling well in Singapore though, perhaps due to our apathetic nature. But Indie Jones has seen really great sets with good designs for the vehicles and I've bought 3 sets this year which I've been rather pleased about. It would be a pity to see the theme end, but then again, PoP is coming out next year and both themes would be quite similar if you know what I mean. Indie Jones has served us well these few years and perhaps it is time to welcome the new themes? After all, I wonder how many similar Indie Jones minifig can one get, with every set including our dear indie.
  13. Definitely City Corner. Yeah, its a little strange to see Emerald Night and Winter Toy Shop among the options, though Winter Toy Shop is a pretty good set and really could be counted as a City set. (I'm not sure about Emerald Night though, Lego Singapore did not carry this and those privately shipped are really expensive) But perhaps the sets should have been classified further, such as vehicles, cause its a really difficult decision. City Corner has a good variety with vehicles and shops and Pizza! The minifigure collection set is also quite a good one, with the road signs and bench a great addition for a town, and if this topic was "Best most affordable 2009 city set", it would have gotten my vote. Come to think of it, City Corner is still the best and most value for money set among wave 2 for City (in singapore that is). I would have bought the camper if not for City Corner already having a bicycle and skateboards, and I can't do much with the surfboard looking at my budding City Collection which has yet to have any sea elements other than a few pirates. The Sports Car was too boring and simple a build and too expensive for what you get (S$16.90 here), with only the phone worth collecting and the tree. Farm is also a good theme, but my local shop only carries the tractor and the huge Farm set which is way above my budget. I find the tractor to simple and a tad boring with only a minifig and nothing special to be worth the 20 dollars. I can't wait for next year's pig enclosure though! It will most likely be the first and only Farm Set I'm getting (perhaps also the impulse) Great topic anyway, got me thinking about my purchases this year.
  14. I recently started visiting Classic Town and I find its pretty good, especially to get ideas on town layouts and how to display my vehicles. You guys shouldn't really expand into other themes, at most perhaps Creator houses, of which I have not seen yet while reading past articles. When you guys do touch on other themes such as Western or whatnot, there is still the connection to 'Town' theme which is good. What could be improved should be the inclusion of news regarding new sets though, as one sometimes has to troll forums and websites endlessly just to dig out news. Overall, there still is a good balance in article posting, with events such as competitions well covered and commented and also reviews of sets old and new. Review postings have been timely, just right for readers to decide whether to buy a set when it comes out. Keep up the good work!
  15. Great design, simple yet eye pleasing. It would be a great set to include in the farm theme. Perhaps a small chair/table could be added for the minifigs to admire the plants
  16. It depends. Definitely diversity because a city with all the same faces/torso would look really boring, like the whole city was populated by clones. But for armies, it may be cheaper or easier to build up "quantity" with all the same faces though it may boring. You can't really say much about Diversity for Star Wars though, since most of the units are made of clones who look... pretty much alike with slight design variations. At least Lego bothered to include diversity in their pirates tic tac toe and chess set this time, even though the quality has been compromised, which is much better than the old castle and lego city tic tac toe, which had all the same faces and weapons if any.
  17. Great review and Great set! I got this for my sister's birthday and can't wait for her to open it in a few months time! The design for the bus is great and so are the shops. Finally my City figs have a place to eat and move around. And of course, one can get two of those skateboard hat without needing to get that coast guard impulse set. Thanks for the review again, made me feel better about my money being spent!
  18. Mmm. As suggested somewhere, a "Battlepack" like set including shepherd and sheeps and possibly a dog would be great. A milk truck would also be cool, our lego CITY people can finally get their daily source of calcium! (Sorry, but I'm still not sure how to quote multiples due to my newness)
  19. Great idea. Hope the petition works. Pity i was too young then to appreciate lego, the indian minifigs are really cool with their huge hats! And they are also quite classic.
  20. Greetings. I'm 15 and from Singapore. I've only came out of my dark ages this year but I'm already a Lego nut. Its pretty tough to be open fan in Singapore especially since my classmates may mock me once in a while and given my age and lack of income, its also hard to get sets. But I've been saving and since my release from the dark ages, I've been interested in the SW, City, Miners, Castle... (Almost everything except Bionicle and Technique which is quite expensive) and gotten several niffy sets. I'm glad to have discovered this trove of information and a place to belong to, after having trolled this forum as a guest for the great reviews and 2010 news (can't wait for disney themes, atlantis and new City sets!). Thanks for reading and i look forward to an awesome time here!
