  1. Of course! I keep over thinking things on this build. Late last night I was working on a 3 'skinny' bevel gear system to reverse axle direction but the problem was that it was taking up too much room. I'll flip the front differential tonight. I really appreciate all the help/input on this build. I started reverse engineering the crane portion of this last night. I am using 8053 as inspiration, I really like how compact the design is. I guess I will need to place a bricklink order sooner or later, I am having problems with too many different color parts. I guess it is fine for the initial build, but I want the end result to be easier on the eyes, not 5 different colors.
  2. Perfect! Thanks for your input My original axle design has a bevel gear on one side, and a 3L beam as steering support. Not sure if you can see it that well in this picture: I removed the 3L beam and popped in a bevel gear... worked like a charm Even better, the bevel gear "acts" as a steering support just the same as the 3L beam did. Now why couldn't I think of that? I sat here the past hour pondering this, and it really is that simple. Long day at work I suppose. Now the problem from this is that the rear 2 axles when rotated counter clockwise, the front axle rotates clockwise... Braincramp.
  3. Ok, not much of an update here. Didn't have much time to work on this tonight, I roughed in a frame for this crane. Structurely, it is a little wobbly, needs a lot of work. The problem I found here was joining the 3 axles, 2 line up not sure how I will get the drive line connected on the third. Gonna have to do some research on this. Any input appreciated.
  4. Hello all, first post here. I wanted to share in progress pictures of a new project I am working on, a 6x6 mobile crane. This is my first 'major' non instruction technic build, so it is a learning experience. I do not have a lot of parts, I just got back into Lego last summer, most of these parts are from 8258 and 8265. So far, I have the axles built. I did a lot of time on Flickr and Bricklink working on this design. Once I had the design finished, it was quick and easy to duplicate. I put these together this afternoon while watching tv. On to the pics... Next up will be the main chassis with engine, I am thinking V8. Unfortunately, I do not have the parts or the skills to add suspension at this time. Once the chassis is complete, I will create the 'crane', I am thinking something similar to 8053. I may download the instructions and see what parts I have. Thoughts and comments welcome. Thanks
