  1. I'm glad that at least three of you liked it :) It's just something I made the other night after I had built a new forest (like I said, I needed the brown bricks from the sand crawler to build trees), and didn't have time to set up Luke and the other Jedi for a duel. I just have to find the minifig he was going to fight. I haven't seen him for a year, and there are lots of places around here where he could be right now. Oh well, the search goes on.
  2. Maybe this isn't much to take up a whole thread with. It's just a single photo. Anyway, it's too late now. I just wanted to reveal the ending of the last Harry Potter book to you. Spoiler ahead: http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/38603065
  3. Ha ha, okay, it was a bit short this time, but I had some people complaining last time that it was too long. This one was around 13 photos long, and the last one around 30. So I'll try to aim for around 20. That'd make everyone happy I guess. I just wanted to shoot the whole episode during the same night, and get it uploaded before the morning. It was dark in here, and I didn't have any good lamps to aim at the set. So I had to use long shutter speeds (around four seconds for each shot, if that says you anything) and have the camera on a tripod. I did have a scene where Chewie kicked himself free and the Jawas had to run after him, but those photos turned out blurry and therefore I didn't use them. If I had included that one, maybe it'd been longer. At first I was also going to let 3P0 and R2 stand outside the crawler and let the Jawas fly into it in the background. But then I guess I just got lazy... That's life. Thanks for the comments. I'll try to get back to Luke soon. I haven't done anything on him since November 2003 I think...
  4. Very nice. I really liked the photo taken through the window and you could see them sit in there eating their ice-creams. Lots of nice details and colours. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Wow! I'm really impressed by your little adventure here! I can imagine that it took you some time to get it all together, it's not just to take a shot and add some text. It takes more than that. All the planning of the scenes, all those cool details everywhere and the great quality of the photos. I'm very interested in getting to know what happens next, and I guess I'm not the only one :) What a treat! Thanks!
  6. It's from "Fargo", where Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare (he's the silent one, and he's a Swede) are kidnappers. It's wonderful to destroy a sand crawler, and I did it beacuse I needed the brown bricks for trees. I've had the crawler on a shelf for a whole year now. It's about time I got access to those bricks again, so that I can make more forest episodes. Thanks for commenting.
  7. Okay, maybe you've forgotten all about my comics. I know that I haven't updated for a while, but I haven't had time to even touch my precious bricks for months. Yesterday I got some time over, and started shooting a new episode. I was just going to put out some remainders of a house in the sand, but all of a sudden I had built a Rebel base instead. So I had to change a bit in the story, and hopefully the result is OK. The text isn't the best in this one, and I must warn you that I've used a bad word in one or some of the speech bubbles... If you've seen the film it's taken from, you'll understand why. I think you'll survive no matter what. Okay, enough talking. Here's "The Big Blitz" (meaning "devastating attack" here, I know it can mean other things as well): http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/38360998 Happy building 2005! Mattias
  8. Wow, thanks for the comments :) I was going to use a Tie Fighter first instead of the Bomber, but then the mobile crane would have had to be made a little bit higher. And it simply didn't look good at all. I don't know if the crane looks good now either, but I'm happy with it. I'm happy that you liked the X-ray machine. I was a bit worried that it'd just look too big and clumpsy. But then again, critical comments are also useful, so feel free to tell me what I should have done in a different way. I don't know where the story is going (as you might have guessed already :/ ), but I guess I'll figure something out. I think I'll have to do follow-ups on Chewie, Luke, the Jawas, the droids or Boba soon. Or do something on Bib Fortuna, Lobot or Jabba... I haven't done anything with Luke since January! The main reason is that I've used all my brown parts for the sand crawler, and can't build the trees for the environment where Luke is in. But I've got a solution for that. I'll just have to use some more of those explosion-effects, and then I'll be able to build some trees again.... ;) I've got some loose plots for three different scenes at the moment, and I think the Jawas/droids/Tusken Raiders are the easiest to start with....although I have to steal some more sand from the sand box in my backyard. It's freezing cold over here now, so taking the Lego outdoors to shoot an episode isn't an option at the moment. I've got relatives visiting as well, and I guess they'll stay a while. But I'll find some time to do the next episode soon. And I haven't forgotten my promise to make JarJar melt. I'll just have to figure out a good way to include him in all of this. Bye for now!
  9. Hi guys. Remember me? First of all, I feel bad for not being able to be more active on this board. You're all great at making customs, and those of you I have talked to are cool individuals who seem to know what they're talking about. It'd be fun to get to talk to you some more, but things are as they are at the moment. I haven't got much time over for doing comics anymore since I'm working in another city (ever heard of Stockholm? :) ) during the weeks. I can't bring my Lego there. Most of the shots for this one were taken a month ago. I finally had some time over this weekend to put it together. It's called "The Big Machine", and starts here: http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/36071822 As usual: Enjoy, or don't ;) And I WILL be back with more. I just have to take care of some things in life. Like my job... Keep up the good work!
  10. Yes, that's a great idea! I think it was a bit too much fire in the AT-ST photo as well, but that's because I didn't have the original image saved on this computer. Therefore, I had to take the already edited photo, with an old red and white explosion (what was I thinking when I made it?) already saved in the image, and paint the new explosion on top of it and try to hide it. Also, I think it'll look strange if the whole AT-ST head is intact when it's exploding. But I'll think about what you said, and when I blow things up in the future I'll make sure to remove some bricks from the thing that is blown to pieces before I add the somewhat transparent explosion. It just didn't work in this particular case, but it's something I have to think about. Thank you again, and thanks for the suggestion you sent in a pm about making the bricks darker where the fire is. You know more about explosions than I do. It's a bit worrying, because explosions aren't something that people should go around being experts at. It's enough if one is insane enough to like them ;)
  11. Since I've just learned how to make explosions and fire yesterday, I've still got some adjustments to do. But I've hotted up some of the old scenes in my Star Wars Lego episodes, and wanted to show you what I wanted it to look like when I once made them. Looking back now to how the images looked before, I can only say I'm sorry for not giving you fire before. I can't see how I could publish those photos without doing anything about the fact that there was something missing :) Here are the retouched versions. I must say I like the first one of these best. And maybe I used a little bit too much fire in the elevator scene - concrete doesn't burn... But then again, Lego minifigures don't bleed. They melt :) http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/31119102 http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/31119107 http://www.pbase.com/mistermattiasimage/31119108 http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/29533826 http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/29533827 http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/29042966 http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/29042967
  12. Thanks, I'll see how I can use it in a comic. Don't be sad if it doesn't make it there, though. It'll be a bit difficult to make that many stormies fall through space like that and make it fit in the plot. On the other hand, my plot is somewhat insane anyway, so who knows :) It was just something I tried out after a couple of hours of Photoshopping. I made some brushes that let me paint stormies in different sizes and at random angles. It wasn't very difficult, and it might be useful if someone wants to create an army of storm troopers. All you need is one of them, that's what I used this time. I learned how to make explosions as well, so hopefully there'll be some spaceships involved in the comics soon. It's about time. :P Maybe you'll find some of these Photoshop tutorials useful? Explosions: http://www.tutorio.com/tutorial/photoshop-...fire-explosion/ http://www.digitalabuse.net/explosiontutorial.htm Black hole (it's really simple, if you've got Photoshop) http://www.darkalter.com/help/black_hole/index.html Palpatine-electricity: http://s3.invisionfree.com/easel_grafix/in...hp?showtopic=35
  13. Does this count as a MOC? Probably not, and since it's just one photo, I guess I shouldn't have started a new topic just to show you this one. But I thought you'd like it, and didn't know where to post it. I just played around with PS today and made a black hole (or whatever it is), and let some stormies fall into it: http://www.pbase.com/image/34417168
  14. Why not build a big gun-tower up there? No, but maybe a place where they can watch the stars from? An observatory... like a big telescope? I'm sure you've got the pieces to build something cool. The only question remaining is wether you like the idea or not :) Very nice building. How long did it take to build it?
  15. Nice idea, but I won't be impressed until I see a Calzone (half of the pizza folded across the other half) ;) Was there a snake on one of the pizzas, one that was inside the oven? *sick* I like them in general, but didn't get what kind of ingredient the black octopussy arms are supposed to be. Maybe they're... octopussy arms? I wouldn't want to try your pizzas out, though, since I guess they'll be served cold. I guess you wouldn't want to add some kind of heater to the oven, because then your Lego's will melt. Coward :P (can you tell that I'm jealous of you for building all these cool things? Awesome work!)
  16. This one is just great! But I really think they've only got themselves to blame for upsetting the (un)dead. What were the boy and girl doing there anyway? And it looks like if they're running somewhere they haven't been before - the spider nets are blocking the exit. If I were there, I'd run to where I came from ;) "maybe I should get more movie maker sets... " Do so, and start making comics! Imagine how cool this one would be with a little flashlight filter in Photoshop and maybe some fog (get hold of someone who smokes and ask them to assist you when taking the shots). I like the fountain, and the details in general. And don't worry, I won't try to get even. I made a silly mistake, and I'm too lazy to correct it. By the way... is the mistake that the guy's left arm and left leg both are bent backwards at the same time? Maybe that's how people run when they're being hunted by skeletons... :^D
  17. Yes, the pieces from the ISD are very helpful for making all those Imperial places. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to build much actually, since I've mostly got red/yellow/white bricks from my childhood. Some gray castle pieces wouldn't get me very far either. I guess I'll never be able to re-build the ISD since I've got the bricks spread out in plastic bags and boxes around here. But I took some photos of it, and think I'll be able to include it in a future episode. I have to use my Ties and B-wings and A-wings as well, and the Falcon... so I'd better get them airborne soon. But, as I've said earlier, the thing that worries me most at the moment is that I don't know how to make explosions... and it's no fun without explosions, is it? :)
  18. As soon as I read that you had "the crazy scientist from the scary laboratory" I thought "torture chamber". I guess it's just me being insane. But torture chambers are unusual, and if you want to build something unusual and use castle bricks, that might be a "good" idea. But then again, your hospital room looks great. Just modify it with some scary machines, and you have your chamber... :oo
  19. I didn't want to start a new thread just to post this link. There are some "Behind the scenes"-photos for my comics here: http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/behind_the_scenes I know that some of you have asked how I did certain scenes, and hopefully you'll get some answers here. It's all very simple actually, so start bluffing with Photoshop! ;)
  20. Thanks for the comments :) In case you'd like to see more of the AT-AT, it has a leading role in this episode: http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/31119096 I guess I shouldn't tell you how the episode ends, if you haven't seen it. The caterpillar tank the commander is talking about in this newest episode is the one seen in this episode: http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/29749927 I just though it'd be a good idea to look at these, so that you'll know what to expect. I haven't got a clue about what's going to happen next, actually. But I'll think of something. I guess I'll have to steal some more sand from the sand box in the backyard... or maybe just bring the AT-AT and the caterpillar tank down there and start shooting...
  21. Thanks for the comment :) Actually, the X:D-thing was close to not making it. But I didn't know what I should let him say when he was about to jump, so I gave it a try with this. Hopefully, it worked. I borrowed some from The Fugitive and Indiana Jones as well, in case you didn't notice. And modified a line from Blade Runner (the "What are you doing here - I'm working"-section), but it might have been far-fetched. Anyway, Harrison Ford is in all those movies as well. That's why he's getting the feelings of d
  22. This one was actually shot before episode 26 (The Big Mistake) and I had to do some puzzling to make it all fit well together. I won't say more about it than that it starts here: http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/34006322 Enjoy, or don't ;)
  23. I could have pm:ed you about this, but there might be other people in here that would want to know the link to a good place at Bricklink if you want to get some new minifig heads. So, here it is: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=gmpurist (click on "Minifig, head" in the window to the left) I think I ordered 25 different heads the last time I ordered something from there :/ I don't know if they're expensive or not, but I thought it was good to have so many of them to choose from at the same place. And I didn't care that much about the cost. I needed heads, and ordered them. So please, DON'T tell me if you find them a lot cheaper somewhere else ;)
  24. I think you did a good job on the colours, and the "roughness" is pretty good as well. I don't know how many different "old" faces there are out there, but I found a good store at bricklink that had tons of different faces. I'll try to look it up for you, even though you might not be looking for more faces at the moment. I don't know how old you are, but when I was a kid there was only only the standard grin faces to choose from. Not even lipstick for the girls. So I've ordered tons of different new faces now for my comics, and I think it really adds a lot. My little group of Rebels should team up with your cool army of Rohan Men and fight Evil together :) http://www.pbase.com/mistermattias/image/29749941 As I've said before, I love all your LOTR stuff, and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of how this diorama develops. Good luck!
  25. Yes, I always try to include hidden messages, and it's fun when people actually let me know that they've found them. These ones weren't very well hidden, but there are tons of other things in the other episodes. And more or less famous quotes from movies are very often included, so if you know your film history, you'll might get out more out of the episodes. Some people have complained about the dark photos as well, and that they can't see anything. Well, maybe they should get better monitors then, because this is the way it's supposed to be down in the bunker :) When I look at the photos from before PS altering, they don't look interesting at all. So I'm glad I made them darker. I wasn't planning on including the meeting room and the scene with Vader actually. It was just something I added to the story when I realized that the episode would be too long if I didn't cut it in half somewhere. And a good place to cut it was when Solo had knocked down the other guy and tasted some Coke. Then I had to add something to that part. So I set up the stormies, and just added some walls. I'm not sponsored by Coca Cola, but I thought of contacting them to ask if it'd be OK to include the Coke machine. I guess they're not watching this anyway, because if they did, I'm sure they'd find some way to press charges and sue me... I'm trying to say that it's a bad thing to drink Coke, and that it makes you feel the need for it as soon as you've tried it once. It's like a drug. In "the real life" I see many people being anti-Americans while still drinking the American Empire's drink. I think it's kind of silly that they complain about the capitalistic ideas and things like that during the day, and then go to McDonald's in the evening... I love Coke (that's why I had some at home and could pour it over the Lego), and I'm not against America in particular. But I felt like including some more puns on Bush, because that's one of the most popular things to talk about these days. And everybody wants to be popular, don't they? ;-)
