  1. More good news. http://jurnalo.com/jurnalo/storyPage.do?story_id=19183 http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070221/sfw067.html?.v=94
  2. LEGO Star Wars line was the #6 most requested toy among U.S. boys while Bionicle ranked #2 among most requested brand among American boys in 2006. Bionicle also saw double-digit sale growth in 2006, eventhough some here stated how they hate the direction the theme has been going the last few years. The LEGO Brand (as a whole) ranked as the #2 most wanted holiday present among boys 6-8 and as #3 among boys 6-11. http://sev.prnewswire.com/retail/20070212/...12022007-1.html
  3. Hey, if you're going to turn the Bionicle brand into a 1st-person shooter video game series, you have to give them cool guns, since having just an sword/axe won't cut it ;) It even got a good review. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/751/751719p2.html
  4. I just have a contrary opinion in which I think it would not only work, but it would end up being a very success if LEGO ever decided to pursue the concept. LEGO would leave the conventional large Bionicle figures/sets alone and stay with the current storyline, while the minifig Bionicle sets would be used to create a new arc in the storyline. The purpose of this would to expand the Bionicle brand to people who aren't currently buying Bionicle sets and are really out of the loop regarding the complexity of the current Bionicle storyline. Bionicle: Galaxy (minifig sets) would offer a fresh new start that should hopefully attract new fans without killing-off existing ones.
  5. The Spirit Star and Red Star could easily be translated to become some sort of large spacecraft, space-station, or planet which could either be mechanical or organic in nature. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_objects_in_Bionicle "Bionicle: Galaxy' sets should take inspiration from the
  6. So I guess you're trying to say that you don't like my 'Bionicle: Galaxy' idea? :-D
  7. I agree. An expandable and modular SPACE CITY would be cool and the only thing that would make it lame if they actually limited to only a shuttle. A new 'Bionicle: Galaxy' theme would be using the new Bionicle minifgs and the ship designs would look nothing like Galidor.
  8. Please don't remind me, Im still in the denial phase of my recovery. ;-) Neither do humans, but it's all pretend anyway so who cares if they belong in space or not. I just don't see how space makes something "non-my's". 'Bionicle:Galaxy' could be created at a prequal to the existing storyline or be placed in the distant future as a seperate and new Bionicle sub-theme. IMO I think 'Bionicles:Galaxy' would be a success in it own right and in a worst case scenerio SW's guys could just turn them into the 'Yuuzhan Vong'.
  9. The fact that LEGO now has 3 underwater themes, should open up the opportunity that LEGO could do 3 Space themes if they so choosed. 'Space themes' also appear to be a more popular in general then 'underwater themes' (except for maybe Spongebob) so it would make more sense for LEGO to focus on 'space' instead of the 'sea'. IMHO SW's and 'Bionicle: Galaxy' would be the two space battle themes while a peaceful space exploration theme with humans/earthlings wound be centered in our own solar system (in the tradition of Classic Space).
  10. The Bionicle ships could have exo-skeleton like structures and have some sort of 'solar sails' as propulsion to give the an almost pirate-like ghost-ship appearance.
  11. Maybe the god-like and demon-like Bionicle dudes need to take their battles from the firey pits of Hell to the Heavens (of space).
  12. Kind of like Jedi's using the magic-like powers of the force, but they can still fly in space ;) I agree 100%. I still would like to see LEGO create a peaceful SPACE CITY theme centered around moon-like bases and exploration.
  13. I need to correct myself in stating that Bionicle ship shown is actually a sub-like vehicle, but I still would like Bionicle expanded into space.
  14. In my opinion I think conflict based Bionicle Space would be far more successful then the new conflict centric Mar Mission sets. I would have no problem with Bionicle SPACE being centered warfare since the entire Bionicle is already an established and VERY profitable sub-brand for LEGO with war as it core theme.
  15. If LEGO has their mind set on creating another Space Battle theme to sell alongside of Star Wars, would you like to see them expand the Bionicle theme into Space? LEGO already has a successful brand with Bionicle thats centered around conflict and could easily make the transition into adding a SPACE sub-theme without too many issues. Bionicle: Galaxy would use different pieces and could have very unique designs that would really seperate it from SW sets. The pics below might be a hint of things to come: LEGO currently has 3 seperate underwater themes: New Bionicles, Aqua Raiders, and Sponge Bob
  16. Now LEGO should think about expanding the "CITY" brand into SPACE.
  17. Mixing some civilian activities within battle centric sets could offer a realistic compromise.
  18. I just want to add that the toys that kids (as well as their parents) play with in many ways reflects the values and future of a society. If parents think the future will be related to operating computers then it should be surprised to see parents push their kids towards
  19. I actually really like the new guns and have no problem with them whatsoever. I wouldn't want LEGO to get rid of Castle battle sets at all, but it would really be cool if they created a theme called LEGO CASTLE TOWN that's centered around non-battle town themes of that time period. These would be great backdrops and offer cool new scenerios to Knights to battle in as well if one so chooses. Either a 'Castle Town' or 'Space City' would compliment sets that are centered around conflict while those two Town/city sets would be based around civilain life in the past or the future..
  20. It doesn't True, but Humans Vs Martians is hardly creative or new. True, but LEGO should do a focus group with parents as well their kids. No argument here. Parents still want to protect their kids from violence, and now that parents will have even more control over the shows their kids watch it's more important then ever for toy companies to listen to parents 'more'. Im not against conflict, but LEGO has plenty of themes that are now conflict oriented and SW's now has proper guns. I agree. My point is there is a shift back to the parents dictating what toys the child buys or wants since they're now able to prevent advertisers from reaching their kids by using tivo's/dvr's and etc. I don't like it, and that's just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
  21. I only was pointing out the positive qualities of the SW's license that helped attract me back to LEGO after a few decades. After LEGO SW's helped suck me back in, my eyes were open to all the options and possibilities that LEGO has to offer. My point was for LEGO to offer a true alternative SPACE theme that provided a 'positive view of the future' and doesn't rely on warfare since SW's just does the whole SPACE WAR thing better. SW's is an established brand and tons of characters and multiple storyline arcs and is a great place to start for people who haven't created their own 'pretend' universe to play within or just don't want too. It doesn't make since for LEGO to have two competing 'space war' themes since they should be truly unique from each other.
  22. Troy, Thanks for your contribution to the thread. There is no doubt in my mind that those who have kids of their own and those teenagers or adults without kids often (more times than not) have two seperate views of the the world and entertainment. This morning my youngest child wanted to build dinosaurs out of his generic Duplo blocks and wanted nothing to do with his ready-made dinosaur toys he got for Christmas from relatives.
  23. Building a Future - One Parents Concern As a parent LEGO
  24. Setting major complaints aside, I would like to focus instead on what we like about the sets and what minor modifications they could do to make them better. 1. I like the new trans-orange canopies and I would like to see more SW's canopies in that color 2. Im biased towards white pieces so the human vehicles do have something going for them. Instead of black contrast pieces on the human ships they should consider dark blue or standard Classic Space blue instead. 3. The Spacey humans torsos are a step in the right direction but some color contrast would be better than all white. 4. While I do like the orange trim, I think changing the orange tank treads and orange wheels to grey would be better. 5. Reduce some of the clutter and beef up the existing designs so they're not too fragile. After the Human Vs. Martian war has been waged and the humans have emerged victorious, we need to get some good ole' Earth-based multi-nationials over there to build a nice Space City for them. We need to get the Martians involved in the invisible hand of free market capitalism to help create stability and we'll even set aside some land for them to build some Casinos You know deep in your heart that a LEGO Martian Casino set whould be a big seller
