Hi Gabriele, Adding part is really time consuming. I got some merge request on github for some new parts, but last time I accepted one merge request, most of the parts were not correctly named, and lost of fields were missing in the xml file. So that took me quite a lot of work to fix the merge request. If someone is interested to be moderator on the brick library, please contact me, and I will be happy to give you the access to update the library. Just in case: you can try to check if there's new parts available through the "File > Download Additional Part..." menu. Yours.

Hello Winczlav, You probably need insert a quarter straight track (in the Track tab). Or maybe you should replace a straight track in the horizontal bottom line by a quarter straight + half straight (to make 3/4 track). Yours.

Hello everyone This topic may be a bit old, but maybe still usefull. Also, now Bluebrick is distributed with a shell script install file for linux that creates a shortcut to launch BlueBrick on your desktop. I guess it should still work, but I'm not sure, since I don't have a linux installed on a computer right now. I'm interested by feedback from linux users, to see if it is still viable to run BlueBrick with mono, and if the install script is still useful, etc... or if most user run BlueBrick through wine. Yours.

Cool! By the way, if there're part contributors who wants to finish the 4DBrix library, please don't hesitate to contact me! :-)

@coaster I've put online on BlueBrick website the BrickTracks package. Please tell me if you found some issues.
-
Yes it is very likely that I will add it too, in a couple of days.

@M_slug357 you're welcome. Anyone enjoying the TrixBrix or 4DBrix support?

Hello all, I've released BlueBrick 1.9. As usual, you can download it here: http://bluebrick.lswproject.com/ I've also created a video to explain you all the new features, that you can watch here: Yours.
-
Sorry for the delay. Here are some news: the features are complete (I don't add new stuff for the next release), and I started the debugging phase. I have also integrated 99% of the translation that the translators sent me. However, I lost the translator for Danish and Norwegian, so if you speak those languages and want to help, you can still make it for the release by contacting me. Next I will need to update the documentation, and then I will be ready to publish. Yours. This is normal because in real life there is tolerance in the connection of the tracks. Some LEGO fans even create large curves with only straight tracks, by connecting one side by half, and the train can still run on it. The software just connect the parts following the precise geometric dimensions of the parts.

Hello Dragunov, The successor of BlueBrick is... BlueBrick... :-) Seriously, I don't think BlueBrick is now obsolete. Yes there's new LEGO parts produced regularly, but it is dead simple to add an image in the library for each new part produced (you don't even need to write an xml file, if you don't want/dare/bother to). If you liked the interface of BlueBrick and its functionality, why changing for something that has the parts you want, but not the functionalities you need? :-) Yours.

Thanks a lot hsousa for helping the linux community!

Thanks Mattzobricks. I've followed the development of this library (Mattzobricks kept me informed of his progress by mail), and I have to say that this is indeed a very good version. I will even host this library on the official BlueBrick website, once the 1.9 is released. Yours.

Hello M_slug357, yes make BlueBrick multi-document is a too big change for now. The solution as legoboy mentionned is to have multiple instance of BlueBrick running and you can copy paste between instances. You cannot copy/paste a full layer for now, but that's something I would like to do in short term. You can rebind some of the shortcut keys in the preference, but not the main navigation keys. I thought about it a bit for the previous release, and that was quite a difficult task. I'm not sure how to handle it for now. So, no chance to see those two requests in 1.9, but I keep them on my todo list.

For the FAQ pan the view: click on the middle mouse button, or SHIFT + Left mouse button For the circuit break, yes, that's a good idea. I will take note.

@Capparezza thank you so much, I really appreciate those nice messages.

I'm afraid I prefer not, for optimization reason. The area are not saved as a series of rectangle, but as a kind of bitmap, so that could be very large for 1 stud resolution. I assumed when you plan a layout, you rarely need to be so precise. The way you want to use the area layer is not in its intended purpose.
-
There's the part list window, that list the type of brick used and there quantity. But it doesn't list each individual parts. Also you cannot select the parts through this list. Yes you're right, it can't goes under 8 studs. I guess the proper way would be to place the building from the city package no?
-
For the font size, don't feel restricted by 8. You can type any number in the box, 1 being the smallest one (but it is barely readable at 1). For your house feature, I would recommend to use an area layer. You can edit the transparency of the layer, and also you can edit the size of the grid used to draw the area (by default it is 32 studs). If you want different transparency value, you can use several area layers. Alternatively, if you insist on having only an outline, you can use a ruler layer, and draw ruler lines. Edit the line property to not display the measurement (you can also disable the offset). Once you configured a ruler, right click on it and choose "Use as Template" and then draw the 3 other walls of your house. Once you have drawn the 4 walls, you may want to group them (select them, right click and choose group). That may be more tedious than the area of course... Which means the feature you want, would be to be able to draw a fully transparent area, but with outline of the border :-)

The short monorail track have 2 different type of connections, therefore you cannot rotate them. BlueBrick prevent you to build impossible track layout. Like Thai bricks mentioned, you should use the other type of short curve, depending if you want a snake or a quarter circle. Note that those two parts are mainly intended to create a snake, because if you want a quarter circle, you can directly use the quarter circle track.

I have no idea so far. If you know some linux developer happy to help me, I would be glad. Go to menu Edit > Preference... > then tab Appearance > in the group box "Default Text Format". You can edit your preferred font style size and color.

Hello Thai Bricks, this is a bug, I guess the & character need to be escaped. I will note it down. Hi Supertruper, No there's no template file feature, but there's something approaching. In the Preferences window, in General Tab and "New map default configuration" you can choose which layer should be Added when creating a new map. However, I think I should remove that and replace it with a "template file" that could be saved and loaded automatically when doing creating a new map. This would give much more freedom to the user as what should be on this template map, such as the number of brick layer, or the logo of the LUG in one corner. Thanks for the suggestion.

OK... you want some teaser? Currently there're two big features, partially completed: 1) Some improvement on the package distribution and installation that will help the LUG to create and distribute their package of library more easily, including an in-software download and installation... 2) Big improvement on the Part List window, that I'm sure not a lot of people uses (or are aware of). This windows won't be a floating window anymore, it will be integrated inside the main window, and will have extra info displayed in relation with your budget. Improvement also on the export of this part list, including a new export format (CSV). Then I plan also to give some love to the export in picture, because I know that some of you are going crazy with BlueBrick and sometimes are creating layout too large to fit in the picture... But I didn't start working on it...

Hello SuperTruper, I guess you can do the "select by type" with the search feature (CTRL+F or menu Edit > Find and Replace). I think, there's no "search by category" feature. I think what you call a category is a tab in the part library, right? Anyway, small tips, when you do a layout, I suggest to place the baseplate in one layer, and the rails in another layer above it.

Yes it already exists, specially with people using a laptop with a tactile pad, and no mouse connected. zoom: SHIFT + RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON + move up or down pan: SHIFT + LEFT MOUSE BUTTON + move

Thanks! Always a pleasure to hear from happy users.
