  1. If you want pics of the alternate models of 5867, I could take mine apart and build them...
  2. Ok, here's a few (it's nighttime now so the flash was about the only light source). Tried to take pics of the more interesting bits. The hook at the rear is attached to a pulley that only has "friction" as a mechanism---it is simply held in place quite stiffly, and the gear is only so you can get a grip to force it to rotate. The rotor mechanism works very smoothly---you can make the entire system work by rotating any of the parts (rotor, tail rotor, or the actual gear you're supposed to use) (this one didn't turn out well despite several attempts to get a good shot of the hook and pulley---the pulley is easier to see in the previous pic) BTW, all of the "Y" rotor pieces are pearl silver. Also, a 3-long axle with stud in dark tan. (2 of them actually)
  3. Not sure if this is news, but I bought 8046 at TRU today, and saw 8045 and 8049.
  4. Being a train fan, I'd love to see some Lego valve gear. I barely understand how they work in real life, much less how to build a set in Lego.
  5. I performed several searches and found no mentions of this here or at FBTB, but my local Target just got in their promo sets, and among the zillions of 8031 V-19 sets were a few 8028 TIE fighters. Not sure if they were old stock somehow or what, but they're out there.
  6. I've always liked the TIE Defender, but the price/piece ratio is insane. I think we all expected more parts based not only on the price, but the fact that the Defender inherently has more wings than the other TIEs. I would have gladly paid for a 400 or 500 piece ship---it could use it due to how many wings and struts it has, plus the "separate" cockpit it has (it's mounted ahead of where the struts mount, rather than the strut mounts and cockpit all being the same "ball" of structure)
  7. 1. UCS B-wing 2. Nebulon-B frigate 3. Executor
  8. Exactly--I want to buy motors, etc. for several models and I was hoping I could get "free shipping" by buying them in person.
  9. Can't find this listed anywhere---I know Lego stores always have the pick-a-brick wall, and many exclusive/rare sets, but I can't find if they sell Power Functions stuff---motors, battery boxes, etc. Are those online-only, or do the stores have them too? If it makes a difference, I'm specifically planning on visiting the one at the Mall of America.
  10. What more could Lego want other than sales? I've never seen a line sell better at my local stores---Brickbeard's Bounty is sold-out more often than not.
  11. I never knew a tubeless 1x2 brick fit over a bulb brick like that---will have to try that with my XT Starship.
  12. I actually prefer that. I simply don't have enough room to display anything bigger than an X or Y-Wing. A smaller AT-AT? Definite purchase.
  13. But can it put the faces back on? :) (it'd be funnier if they're the wrong ones)
  14. With those nacelles and pylons, and a basic saucer design figured out---he's not far away from being ready to make an NCC-1701-A. :)
  15. Nobody's replied yet? Then I will. :) I'm always impressed by any transforming Lego, especially when trying to re-create an existing design into Lego. Have you considered doing the GP01's core?
  16. True, now that Lambo seems to have focused on "citrus" paint colors it would have been appropriate, and lime or orange would have sold zillions purely as parts-packs.
  17. For those of us who missed the pics, could you tell us what model of Lamborghini it is?
  18. I love Lambos, but passed on this mainly due to it having NO headlights nor taillights other than stickers. $5 racer sets have clear parts for taillights, but not this? Surely they could have done SOMETHING. (also, I'm not fond of the yellow--white or black would have looked much better IMHO)
  19. I was just thinking that same thing last night---I really wanted/needed a 1x3 jumper plate (with 2 studs)---a normal jumper plus a 1x1 tile beside it just isn't nearly strong enough for a lot of places. And to everyone who said 1x3 tiles--those too! Lately LEGO has seemed so intent on making big, new, complex pieces that very few sets will use, when "obvious simple variations of basic pieces that could be used in EVERY set" go un-made...
  20. Yeah, I just realized BOTH battlepacks say 442 pieces---so it's likely that all the piece counts are fake, being promo boxes. Presumably they actually have a lot less, and the TIE Defender has more. ::point:: And the Freeco says 142. 142, 242, 442, and 442. I think they just liked using "42" for the first run of all the new box designs.
  21. $50 TIE Defender? Great news IMHO. One of my all-time fave SW vehicles, and having 50% more wings and guns than any other TIE, it *should* have a lot more parts and cost more than others. Can anyone make out the piece count from the pic? Kind of looks like 242 but that's too low given size/price and compared to the Tri-fighter's 268. Luke's landspeeder will be worth it for all those tan and dark red parts alone.
  22. I don't own a Cipper either! But I do have about 98% of the parts needed and have liked it since I first saw it in the catalog that came with my BSB all those years ago. I might actually build a copy of it quickly before doing this frigate---I only have one set of "all-brown" bow/stern parts so I can't do both at once. I just bought some materials to try a new technique at making striped sails---if it works, I'll post a tutorial.
  23. I have almost no gold parts (and they're expensive to buy), so I will be using yellow. I don't plan to put any blue striping anywhere---the aft cabin will have lots of blue, and the sails. I plan to basically make "a very large Caribbean Clipper". But with a bit more color (blue, black, white).
  24. The mast parts needed are listed here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...st&p=570010 If anyone cares---"variations on a theme" (there's actually 5 sections here, each slightly different)
  25. I've just been making short sections of gundeck to experiment with stripe height, gunport positioning, etc. Trying to figure out exactly how I want it before I build it---don't want to spend hours making the whole thing THEN realize I want the striping 1 plate taller or shorter. There's 55 studs of "primary" gundeck striping/walls on yours---you've got 9 cannons 4 apart, plus the 2 studs per cannon, plus 1 "extra" stud (9x4 + 9x2 +1). Going to 3 studs works for 11 cannons. (11x3 + 11x2) I haven't decided on cannon spacing either---and how far apart they are affects how thin or thick the striping appears. I do plan to lower the entire side a bit--I like "sleek" ships. I've been carefully testing for fit with cannons at every step. (but I really need my hinges to arrive before I can really get everything tested, as having the sides angled will affect things a bit) I'll post a pic of some of the "final choices" for gundeck striping when I've built them. And I just realized while typing this that if I buy white or blue flag-holders(part 2540) instead of using black ones that'll change everything.
