my tips, 1. don't be afraid to steal techniques, if you steal an original technique give credit 2. DON'T start by building a steam because they are very complex and extremely time consuming 3. when building a steam always start with the wheels and running gear, working running gears adds so much toy your engine 4. don't try to impress people, build a prototype that is pleasing to you and you feel comfortable building thank you

dude, thats some serious building i can just imagine what one of those pullmans would cost you could always build a "microscale" locomotive (but that would be about the same scale i build in i guess)

alright never introduced myself I'm gerrit I've played with lego for my whole life, i never was much of an avid train fan till a few years ago i started seriously building two years ago you can see more on brickshelf so yeah

nice work! i'm gonna have to agree with the brickster, these big steamers are very menacing and powerful the boiler is brilliant i've been looking for a way to get a bigger boiler than what I've already used with sacrificing the smoothness overall amazing job

this is a very nice train but shouldn't it have 3 more cars to qualify for category 1? don't take this wrong i really like this model

incredible work! it amazing how you got all of this huge engine to look so good in six wide. that's not something i would attempt even without PF in it keep up the good work

alright cooper! you stepped up to the plate to take on this engine. I've been waiting for someone to build a model of the cab forward which are almost a trademark of the southern pacific. excellent job

awesome creation overall exceptionally awesome how the SD45 looks so clean even with that monster of a prime mover in it the caboose is of course top notch with the interior wonderful job

i put an interior into the observation car

good eyes those are tires for smoke stacks actually on the trucks the the middle wheels are taken out of the base or whatever you want to call it and put on the truck through 2 1x1 tenchnic bricks with a pin. this allows the trucks to easily negotiate curves. join the PF revolution i will be putting PF in the berk as soon as i get the cash thanks for all the comments guys

ENTERED my entry for category 1 C&O berkshire #2716 was leased to southern RR for most of its active life then it was repainted for C&O and used to pull passenger excursions till its retirement. it now awaits restoration at the Kentucky transportation museum. more on brickshelf when moderated EDIT the berkshire has been rebuilt see more below this is probably the best thing i have made yet enjoy

use one of these it gives you the offset you need and its strong

the inner wheel dose create lots of friction but if you let the middle truck float and connect the other two wheel sets with liftarms it makes it around the track quite nicely

cool building i especially like how you did the roof great job!
