It is possible it will be unveiled at Brickfair this weekend.

I love the giant candy canes and final package car.
-
That is really cool. It will look nice running around the yard with a few Maersk engines and a bunch of rolling stock and containers. I think it would have been cool to incorporate the windscreen from the Maersk truck, but it does look cool!

I heard a rumor at Brickworld last summer that the Maersk train will not be around long 2012 will be its final year. No other date given.

Looks cool and that is a massive piece count. I have seen the same instructions on ebay and it is a really cool building for sure. Take more photos of the progress.

Getting started in LEGO Trains - What to buy?
nfl_solo replied to MrTools's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Congrats. Much like yourself I always loved Lego trains but never had any. I picked up my first train a couple years ago with the Emerald Night, and bought my first train set a year ago with the 7939 cargo train. since then I have bought the Maersk train, Toys Story Western Train, and another Emerald Night. I am looking to pick up the Passenger train and Red Cargo train in the near future, possibly the Hogwarts express too.- 191 replies

I would like to see an updated holiday train and/or station to go along with the Winter village line.

A Guide to building a Medieval Village
nfl_solo replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is such a fantastic idea Derfel. Just wanted to say it is coming together great and I really appreciate the time you have taken to share your tips and tricks of the trade with everyone. It is people like yourself in the Lego and AFOL communities that make it such a fun hobby. thanks again and keep up the great work! -

Our group (KLUG) displayed at BW Fort Wayne this past weekend and it was a really good show. Attendance was great for such a small market. We constantly heard positive feedback form children and parents alike both days. A huge plus for a lot of the families was the hands on mosaic build, build table with dark bley 2x4 brick and the duplo play area. Monster Chess and Super Robo Rally were also a hit. The convention center was very nice, had plenty of room and amenities. All in All it was a great weekend and another fantastic Brickworld show. Thanks go to Bryan, Kathie and all the organizers of the event. Looking forward to Fort Wayne next year and possibly Indy in the spring.

Thanks for all the comments, I appreciate them.

I was doing some sorting and disassembling, I had created a couple small space vignette backdrops in the past that I was working on taking apart. I took them both apart and re-worked them into one piece, here is the outcome. Flickr Link

nice find. I will try and call this evening when I get home. I want to pickup this train as well as the Passenger train. This will work then with BOGO and free shipping. Thanks! oh BTW, what number did you call to place the order?
-
Was the Bogo honored when you placed via phone? Any ETA on ship date?

10194 Emerald Night worth it even for a non-Train enthusiast?
nfl_solo replied to Enpaz's topic in LEGO Train Tech
The Emerald Night is my first Lego train purchase aside form the original monorail. I absolutely love the Emerald Night. I have always loved trains, and regret not buying trains earlier especially the Sante Fe and BNSF when I would see them on the shelf at Toys R Us. I didn't want to make the same mistake twice so I bought the Emerald Night shortly after it was released. This started my love of Lego trains and I have bought another Emerald Night recently as I feel it will be discontinued soon. I have also bought the 7939 Cargo train, two 7597 Toy Story trains and two Maersk trains. I plan on picking up the 7938 Passenger train as well as the new 3677 Red Cargo train when it is released. -
BTW, Vincent. It was cool to meet you at BW this year. We will have to grab lunch next year with Jameson again.

Very cool! That was my favorite once when I was a child. I really looked how the book told a story.

My thoughts on Brickworld 2011.... This was my 5th Brickworld, the first 3 I attended just on the public day, last year I was a registered attendee but did not display any MOC's or attend any workshops due to timing constraints, this year was my first year as a registered attendee and displaying with a group. I think my expectations were exceeded with the event, It was a fantastic time. I really enjoyed meeting new folks, hanging out with people I met last year, attending workshops and presentations. I think my favorite part of Brickworld has to be Saturday after the public hours waiting for World of Lights and sound. Plenty of time to relax, meet new people, walk around and judge MOCS, really take your time looking at things etc. A few of us including Ricecracker decided to play our newly purchased games of Heroica for a while. Personally I like having the vendors all in one room, although perhaps they need a larger room:) Last year it was nice to receive the Brick Badge as part of registration, but I understand the cost of them, not to mention the time needed to coordinate to have them engraved and completed in enough time, plus not everyone wants one. I did like the lanyard and plastic attendee badge though, I think that is a great idea. I am already looking forward to Brickworld 2012.

Are you ready for Brickworld? and countdown clock...

Everyone have safe travels, especially those coming from abroad. I look forward to hanging out with the EB members I met last year at BW. -
Nice! Northbroook store is the nearest store to me, I bought my 1st Maersk there on April 1. I received my second Maersk today from S@H.

I own both the 7939 and the Maersk Train. I have had Lego since the early 80's, but never owned a complete train set. I have never been a huge fan of the passenger trains and always liked the look of Steam/diesel freight locos. The emerald night was my first train set when it was released but I had no way to power it or track for that matter. I purchased the 7939 Cargo Train last summer as my first "complete" train set. I really liked the look of the 7939 locomotive, all the track, and PF equipment that came with it really swayed my decision to buy it. I have to say I was extremely happy with the set. If you do not need the PF equipment or track, you may just want to find the locomotive or cars on ebay/bricklink. If you are in need of track and PF components or just want a complete package I highly recommend this set. With that said, as soon as I saw the photos of the Maersk train I knew I would have to buy that as well. I picked mine up on April 1st along with another PF train motor, battery box, and IR receiver. I use the single PF remote that came with 7939 to control both the 7939 locomotive and the Maersk train. Both trains compliment each other and I am very happy with my purchases. With the rumor being that 7939 will be discontinued this year and the new 3677 set possibly being a replacement, another plus would be to get the plastic curved RC track with the set, which has been completely replaced by flex track this year. I would recommend picking up 7939, then pick up the Maersk train as well :) Hope this helps.....
