  1. Thanks for the answer, LT. In the US, Woolworths was the original five & dime store and went out of business years ago. Does Australia have weight limits for trucks on the roads? A common feature at American truck stops is a set of scales for truckers to weigh themselves to make sure that their loads are under government maximums; they're usually located right next to the truck wash. Both of those would probably take a lot of room, though. Many US truck stops also feature shower facilities for truckers to use on long hauls. It'd give you something to do with the shower that came in the last Advent Calendar if you have it.
  2. If you can forgive this Yank for asking, Is Woolworths the name of the gas station or the attached store (or both)?
  3. I have multiple pieces, including doors, with the Shell logo printed on them from sets in the 1980's, so it has been done before. I believe your top statement to be the most likely reason for so many stickers, that the licensor wanted the specific look. I'll build one with stickers, one without, and if I get a third (I'm praying this set is US$100 like Emerald Night; if it's $150 I'm only getting 2) it will depend on how I like the look of each.
  4. The price, and especially the price-per-piece ratio, really lowers this set in my opinion. Also, if you can't see from lightningtiger's (excellent) pictures, the front of the hull has a "layered" look. It's not a smooth taper like the fire and coast guard boats.
  5. I just saw this set at Target this evening, so hopefully retail stores in Europe will get them as well.
  6. I have 6 of those 1998 McDonald's promos. After seeing the mini-model in Winter Toy Shop, I turned one into a Jack-in-the-Box. 2 are still in the box awaiting ideas to turn them into something other than McD's. Has anyone else modified a 3833-Krusty Krab Adventures (a SpongeBob Squarepants set)? I bought one and turned it into another burger restaurant, using the minifigs as part of the decoration like Ronald McDonald.
  7. I have to echo, KielDaMan, as he wrote exactly what I was going to say. These are really great jobs!
  8. I really like this set and it was a lot of fun to build. A lot of the building techniques are great. I especially like the way the sign is mounted on the side of the upper story and plan to replicate that in future builds. My biggest nitpick is the backprinting on the armored car driver. At least in the U.S., armored security cars are all run by private firms and not by police agencies. I swapped his torso out for an old 80's police fig and used it to put another detective in my station. There's a lot to love about this set. We haven't had a bank in years and this one is very well done. The vehicles are nice as well. The only thing not to love is the price - US$50 is a lot. I'll gladly buy another one if I can get it on sale, but I won't pay full retail for another.
  9. The LEGO store in Schaumburg, Illinois. There were 3 on display when I got there, I grabbed one and saw someone behind me in line with one. There was one left when I walked out.
  10. I just checked the one I was able to buy today and sadly no, they're dark brown.
  11. My Toys 'R' Us had all the police sets except the mini-fig pack in. I was a bad person and bought the HQ, the police dog vehicle, and the prisoner transport. I'll have a review of the police dog car going up later tonight.
  12. You are living my dream right now... I'd love to have that much space. I also loved seeing your football stadium, since I am blessed to have those sets, too. Is that the English team playing?
  13. Nicely done! For those of you who have never seen or heard of a Steak N Shake, it's a pretty accurate re-creation.
  14. I hadn't realized there were that many. I am fortunate enough to have 6357 which I bought more for the semi than for the helicopter being transported. I've often wondered why LEGO created so many, especially since most pilots would simply fly their helicopter where they wanted to go and would not need to have them trucked from place to place, but then that's my overly logical adult mind working. They're not Classic Town per se, since they're part of the Launch Command subgroup, but you might also want to include 6336-Launch Response Unit and 6346-Shuttle Launching Crew. Both of these involve transport trucks carrying a helicopter (the former) and a space shuttle (the latter).
  15. Great MOC! I was lucky enough to have a friend living in Germany hook me up with a full lot of those awesome football sets. It really makes me wish they would produce them again. The (authentic) Dutch team and stickers were the only ones I was not able to get; I have the German, Austrian, and English ones.
