  1. You're right. I was misinformed. I was under the impression that it was a general Nintendo brand characters license but I guess it's Mario Kart only. And the poor sales of those Mario Kart sets definitely had to be a big sign to Lego that this this wouldn't be profitable. I work in a small toy store and have seen firsthand that those Mario figures don't ever sell.
  2. K.I.T.? David Hasselhoff? Are you getting your movies mixed up with TV shows or what? K.I.T. And David Hasselhoff are from Nightrider. Back to the Future had Micheal J. Fox and the Delorean. I can't really tell what you're trying to say with that part of your comment. I'm a huge BTTF fan myself so I'm way stoked about this! I do hope they do a little redesigning of the Delorean though. To all the arm-chair market analysts complaining about other themes being turned down; You can't fully comprehend why a potential product wasn't green lit just from a sentence or two of information. There's a lot more that goes into this than you realize. They have guys on the Lego team who do market research on this stuff FULL TIME and spend hours upon hours trying to decide if something is feasible. Zelda? It was literally impossible for this to have worked out since Knex already holds the license for this. It's as simple as that. You cant give the same license to two competing companies. Eve? Very low mass appeal. Sure the designs were really cool but those things would never sell well. I'd be surprised if any of my friends even know what Eve is. Picture a mom looking through a Shop at home catalog trying to decide what to buy her son for his birthday. Do you think she'd even recognize the Eve logo? Not likely. MWT? It's pretty dang cool, that's for sure, but you guys are in total denial if you think that this doesn't directly compete with the future Lone Ranger sets. It's the same reason why Lego can't have both Indian Jones as well as Adventurers sets. Do they complement each other? Certainly! But there's lots of you out there that will buy sets from The Lone Ranger line who wouldn't do so if you got your western fix from the modular western town. Do you really think that would sit well with the guys on the other end of the license deal? Probably not. This is a case of bad timing more than anything else. Maybe it could be resubmitted in a couple of years? You're making a mistake if you think that Lego is specifically catering to you AFOLers with these cuusoo sets. Their goal is always to reach the most mass appeal. BTTF was easilly the most logical choice based on brand recognition alone. It just depended on if the licensing was affordable or not.
  3. This is really the only set out of the winter 2013 wave that I think I'll buy right away. I'll wait on the rest. The pilot here is the real big cafch for me. I'm so happy they finally made a real A-Wing pilot helmet :) Your pics really do a good job of showing this set off! Here's a little fun piece of trivia. One of the A-Wing pilots in ROTJ is actually a girl dubbed over by a male voice actor.
  4. Great review! I really love the look of the Rancor but the rest of the set is just SO boring looking to me. There's no way I could justify paying $60 for it. I'll try to be patient and wait till it gets seriously discounted in a year or so.
  5. Honestly I would sell it now. I actually have one myself that I'm planning on selling. The price is already pretty darn high and I kind of doubt that it could really get much higher. At this point if you wait then the price could potentially go down and you'd have missed your opportunity. Take advantage of your good opportunity while you know that you still have it.
  6. Thanks for the compliments. Yes, the legs and arms are decalled. I don't really have any other work in the form of minifigs that I could show. I mainly do scale models but the same skills kind of transfer over I guess. I'd like to do a few more pretty soon as I found these really enjoyable. The main reason I posted these was to see if they were high enough quality to sell. I need to save for a big trip so I need to start letting go of some of the things I've worked on.
  7. I made these a few years ago. Let me know what you think. Some of the painted lines look a bit sloppy but remember that these figures are tiny and the close-ups show flaws that aren't visible to the average eye. The paint is very crisp looking on the actual figure. The Boba Fett figure was decalled and painted to be more accurate to the colors of the movies. The Mandalorian was painted to look like my character in Star Wars Galaxies.
  8. I have Luke's Landspeeder and it doesn't have wheels. It has those little circular smooth things.
  9. Are the Ewok head pieces made from that rubbery stuff or are they hard like a normal lego piece?
  10. Seriously?... I'm new here so it would have been nice if you and Millacol88 had just kindly given me the answer and also pointed me in the right direction for next time. The "Star Wars Anyone" topic isn't even stickied. It's mini-mods like you two that make me hate joining new forums.
  11. Wow this looks like quite the project! It will definitely be pretty sweet looking when it's done.
  12. Has anybody seen the new sets in stores yet besides the Lego stores?
