  1. OK, at this point, a small series of sets covering the Ancient World is essentially inevitable... All the molds have already been made, and it is just a matter of time now... So here is an ambitious new attempt to make a series of sets through Cuusoo. I designed a series of 8 of them, ranging all the way from $30 to $300, including different sets for Greece, Rome, the Lighthouse of Alexandria, Stonehenge, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, and the Nexus of Bifrost. Please have a look, I'd love to hear everyone's feedback, and then you can come to vote on all of them for free at LEGO Cuusoo! And I will incorporate everyone's suggestions as soon as I can! Thanks Again! =D therealindy (Archaeology, Ancient, History, Greece, Greek, Rome, Roman, Alexandria, Egypt, Celtic, Stonehenge, Garden, Babylon, Viking, Bifrost, Wonders of the World)
  2. Looks great! Is there anything inside of the Parthenon? And if you use the Spartan as Odysseus, with the Cyclops and Poseidon as themselves, you can have the actors doing a scene directly from the Odyssey. Plus if the actors are staging the Odyssey in the amphitheater, then that would go nicely with the "re-enactors" acting out the story of the Iliad on the shore!
  3. Actually, BrickForge has a beautifully designed new style of hand-held "fighting claws", with the grip turned at 90 degrees, and the claws on the back of the hand just like they should be... Perfect for Wolverine and Shredder! They also have more realistic sais for Raphael, better designed shuriken throwing stars, straight ninjato swords, and kunai, etc. I'll vote for the Turtles as the best figures, although they deserve better official weapons molds. And I'll vote for Trixie from speed racer as the worst of the whole line, since she started that awful "loin-cloth with thong-back" look over bare legs... OMG, talk about a "fashion don't"! =P Fine for Slave Leia and Islander girls, NOT fine for the CMF surfer dude or CMF Caesar!
  4. I think that they don't have the license for the new Spider Man movie yet, just the TV cartoon show, so they are waiting... Plus it is amazing that TLG has the power to get Marvel and DC licenses going at the same time, despite whatever else!
  5. Definitely! I had the same idea, and I already had the BrickLink orders in the works, so now I have two cool alternate versions made from all real official parts... The head designed for Hawkeye works beautifully for Cyclops too. He wore these civilian style glasses in the movies whenever he was out in public. The body is from Racer X from Speed Racer, and it could work well as the uniform for all the X-Men. I know a few others have thought of that too. I also got a Riddler head with the purple mask to replace the original head for Hawkeye, or you can use any head you like. And as luck would have it, the costume and torso for Fenrir Greyback the werewolf from Harry Potter was obviously imitating Wolverine in the X-Men movies. I also gave him the '50s greaser pompadour hair from the Collectible Minifig Series 6 Mechanic. I think that is totally cooler, but you can also give him the slick black hair from the new Bruce Wayne fig from the Batcave set, if you prefer a more sleek modern look. Plus as a bonus, if you steal his hair, then the new Bruce Wayne magically becomes an alternate Lex Luthor! =D Happy Easter! =) Indy Out
  6. Yes, Target has them listed for pre-order in the USA now. It says they will be available on the 8th, which is Easter in America. In fact, the $13 Captain America motorcycle set is listed as being in stock at the store right now. I will go and have a look-see tomorrow... Otherwise only 6 days!! =)
  7. Yeah, the item name clearly says "with bonus" and then there is a picture of this new Lex Luthor fig on the product page, so I figure I can hold them to their word, even if it is not listed specifically on the receipt. The nice people at my local brick-and-mortar GameStop store told me that they will gladly give me an extra one if I do not receive it, since they always have leftover ones, because of kids who pre-order and then change their minds later. Hmm, or maybe THAT'S the reason I did not see an option to do the in-store-pick-up option for this one? They say they will mail it together with the game. Anyway, this is the link I used, it seems fairly legit to me... http://www.gamestop.com/browse?nav=16k-lego+super (NOTE: I think they did clarify the page since yesterday... because it was really confusing!)
  8. And as my 76th post, here she is complete! Feedback is welcome... Indy
  9. As I mentioned in the general superheroes discussion thread, this new exclusive Lex Luthor minifig is now available through Gamestop.com in the USA, as a free bonus if you pre-order the new video game. It is also available in Australia now, and probably Europe soon... He wears the same body-armor as the Space Marine from CMF Series 7.
  10. If anyone in the USA is looking for this new exclusive Lex Luthor minifig, it is now available through Gamestop.com in the USA, as a free bonus if you pre-order the new video game. And yes, he wears the same body-armor as the Space Marine from the Series 7 Collectable Minifigs.
  11. Upgrade!! Did anyone else immediately think of this when they saw set 3931? The top pics now include better stairs, BrickForge drinks, candle-light, and I filled the tub with a loose pile of about 20 trans-clear studs so it looks like bubbles! I also modified set 8159 to be minifig-sized Ferrari and Lamborghini two-seaters, leaving off the decals, I modded set 7899 into a great luxury yacht, and set 8638 can be very easily changed into a minifig-scale G6 private jet. If I unpack them, I may post pics. Set 3222 is also perfect for this sort of theme right out of the box. Have Fun!
  12. GENIUS!! Perhaps just add some more buildings to the open green space, so Metropolis look like one continuous mega-city...! Ooooh, or just some LCD lights around the edge of the screen to make the TV light up in the dark, yes?! KUDOS!!
  13. Yes, at first I matched the dimensions against real photos, but I found that if I limited it to just 3 or 4 studs wide and just 4 or 5 bricks high, I was not able to create anything I really liked, so I beefed up the scale of it. Plus, this will eventually become a nice set piece for Metropolis or Gotham City, and something for the Joker or Luthor to threaten to destroy with his krypto-mech, so it's OK if the dimensions differ from the real world a bit. And again, love to see even more alternate design ideas!
  14. Hey, I am not sure if there will be a vignette contest for the Series 6 Collectible Minifigs, but whatever happens, I am sure a lot of builders will want to make a nice pedestal for their "Lady Liberty" fig. This is my first draft, and it has a 9x9 base as you can see. And obviously, I do not have my Statue of Liberty minifig in hand yet, so The Joker just makes a nice temporary stand-in for right now! This is based very loosely on the real pedestal, which is OK, since even we Americans do not have a perfect mental image of what the real pedestal looks like. It is also based a bit on reconstruction drawings of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria in Egypt, and just whatever extra bricks I had on hand from my various Egyptian temples... Has anyone else tried this yet? Are there better ways to do this architecture at this scale? I am sure we would all love to see some alternate designs! [uPDATE: scroll down a few posts to see the finished design]
  15. BrickHeroes posted some great eyeball-teasing morphing-animated reviews of some Super Heroes sets, done by Artifex The morphing animated build starts after about a minute or so into it, after the minifigs are introduced... I think it'd be even better if he used the same morphing-effect on the beginning part where the minifigs spin. He could just use the same software and same function, I am sure...!
  16. SUPERMAN is available for shipping NOW for $21.99 at ToysRUs.com!!!!! =D http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12326419&prodFindSrc=search It might be wise to get him now, because he may or may not be on Lego S@H on the 15th.
  17. While we are all waiting for the new DC sets, here are two great MOCs of the Fortress of Solitude, designed to display Superman. Waiting for Superman - From Bricks to Bothans One is micro, one is minifig-scale. I am planning something similar... Has anyone seen any more designs as great as these two? Created by Andertoons, this one would be great as a small micro-vignette for Superman to stand in front of. I think you could easily do a similar micro-scale Greek Temple vignette to display Wonder Woman too... Created by Fat Tony 1138, this one is in minifig-scale, and experiments with a variety of crystalline structures. If anyone has more ideas to add, or if you have seen good MOCs posted, we would all love to see/hear...
  18. Wonder Woman also has a more modern outfit in the comic books and for TV, with tight blue or black pants in leather or latex. I am sure we will get another fig of her in a newer outfit, especially considering the unprinted legs will be much cheaper to create. Also, are they still planning on doing a new movie version of her? Is it still rumored to be Megan Fox?
  19. We were discussing Lego's patent issues on a different forum, so I wanted to share this link... The original patents expired decades ago, but they are always putting in newer patents on new designs for new bricks. If you go to the European Patent Office (EPO) website and search for patents with "lego" as the applicant, you can see them all, going back to 1976 or so. Here is the link for you. http://worldwide.espacenet.com/searchResults?PA=lego&DB=EPODOC&locale=en_EP&ST=advanced&compact=false For each patent, you can also click on the links under "also published as" to see additional images... And note that if the US patent number starts with the letter "D", then it is just a design patent, which simply covers the visual design of a product. A "design patent" is much easier for a competitor to work around than a full "utility patent" for an invention. Wikipedia has more background info. If you see anything fascinating in the new patent images, you might also start a new thread...! =)
  20. Ah well, the Egyptians loved to cover their furniture in gold, but their architecture was usually just plain limestone and paint. And artistically, I wanted the lapis-lazuli-blue elements and the golden elements to be in balance, in quintessentially Egyptian style. Actually, the blue tiles were way more expensive than the gold! The pool has a zig-zag pattern of trans-medium-blue and trans-dark-blue tiles over a classic-blue plate, to get that nice translucent lacquered or layered effect. In fact, those trans-medium-blue tiles are so rare, that officially they do not exist! And the whole thing only cost about $100, so we should judge it in the more humble "less than $100" class for MOC-vs-MOC contests. Fortune and Glory, Indy Out
  21. It says "Tremblay wasn’t at liberty to provide explicit details on the DC Comics game, nor the superhero which would be starring in it." So the other game will undoubtedly be all the DC Comics characters, with a starring role for Superman. Can a LEGO format be the solution to the long-standing curse that no Superman video game can ever be good or successful? I think so!
  22. And a Halloween bonus... Chatter Lal and the Young Maharaja look on, hypnotized by the Black Sleep of Kali, as Mola Ram and a Thuggee Acolyte perform the ritual! The acolyte's decals are by FineClonier.com... And the heart is here. Happy Halloween, Bwahaha!! >={D>
  23. Yes, but remember that in the LEGO System, cherries are as big as fists, and a 747 jet plane is as wide as three carrots are long!!! Can anyone think of more funny examples of whacked-out scale?
  24. Ah, thanks for the info, so that explains why I saw a French advert saying "Lancement en Mai" or "Launching in May". And it makes me glad that I just bought a Green Lantern Comic-Con minifig for $60! Also, do we know if the final version of Superman will have printed red boots, or not? The LegoSuperHeroes.com preview site and the Comic-Con preview fig both show plain blue legs, but the leaked box art clearly shows Superman with printed red boots... I can imagine that printing onto the sides of the legs costs them a bit more than just printing the fronts of the legs... Any word on that?
  25. So are the DC sets still slated for release in January, or not until May? Also, is there a final word on when a Green Lantern fig will be in a set?
