  1. They surely can't impose a 5 or 10 limit, given that there's 16 in the set That barcode info is very interesting! I suppose Lego want each box to contain the same number of each fig? That would explain the barcodes. I wonder if they thought they could keep that a secret?
  2. I don't get this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEGO-8683-Collectabl...8#ht_500wt_1182 How can sellers be 100% sure which fig it is if it's sealed? Is it that obvious when you feel the bag? Good if it is
  3. Ha ha, that is so cool! I love the staircase for the figs to climb up You must have found a way to make it really sturdy too, have you used hinges to connect the slide part to the tower and the pool at the bottom? If so, you've managed to make it disguise them really well, it's not at all bulky or blocky
  4. That is spectacular! Very very realistic - I've seen each of these buildings individually, it's great to see them together in a layout. The train is also very realistic, the bridge section in red is very similar to one just down the road from my house! The only thing I could suggest that would make it maybe even more lifelike, is that where we have pedestrian crossings at junctions like that, we tend to have a pelican crossing with traffic lights, rather than a zebra crossing. Overall, a fantastic setup
  5. Come on, you've had this at least an hour and a half now, where's the review? It looks different somehow on the box - the blue/red flags look odd to me - dark green and gold ones would look so cool (already plotting MODs!)
  6. I prefer studs showing if it's a surface I might want to put minifigs or other objects onto - e.g. floors, tables, counters etc. However, for the tops of walls and for roofs, I prefer studless (though, when doing the crenelated top of a castle wall, it can be a pain to find enough 2x1 tiles to cover every part of it!). I don't like the un-lego look of MOCs with no visible studs at all.
  7. They're from 7591 or 7592 - Constructa-Zurg and Buzz Great review, thanks d00dz loads of detailed photos! My main qualm with this set is the lack of minifig accessibility - there's no isle for them to walk down to get to their seats, and no door or ladder/staircase to allow them to board the plane . Also, it would have been really cool to have wheels that are retractable, or a hold area for luggage, etc, but I suppose that would be a bit too complicated.
  8. Wow, that's amazingly realistic! I particularly like the4 attention to detail, for example you've even included the red piece of felt/fabric behind the keys Which parts did you use for the actual keys? I can't figure it out
  9. So cool to have the designer replying to this thread - I hope more Lego designers are able to do this in the future. I haven't bought any of the previous modulars, as my budget just doesn't allow for it, and Town is not my main Lego focus - but I'm seriously considering this one (maybe a department store was picked partly to appeal to FFOLS more than, say, the fire station? I feel like such a stereotype ). I don't think having a second corner building spells the end of this line - after all, they could end up producing an entire block, perhaps with a garden in the middle I too agree with whoever said that the toys from the Winter Toyshop would fit in well - I plan to use this idea too Might have to mod this so that there are two escalators per floor (up and down!) - or else find a way to install a lift. I can't wait for the first review of this set - I'm dying to see what the other two interiors are like!
  10. Really nice MOC, I agree that it looks like an authentic Creator set. The roof is really interesting and realistic, I can't wait to see the furnished interior! I think you're right, the bathroom will be a challenge; a roof that opens would work well though I think.
  11. How old does a topic have to be to be considered old though? I think it depends on how active the forum is - and could even vary between different sections of the same forum. Also, when searching it is not always obvious which are old threads and which are new. I suppose the answer is that before replying to a thread, people should first check the date of the last post, and if it was ages ago (e.g. more than 6 months?) make that clear in their reply. On the other hand, it shouldn't be that hard for readers of the thread to glance at the posting dates themselves.
  12. Wow, this is so realistic, you've really captured the buildings in London here! The details are amazing, things like the portaloo, conservatory on the back of the other house, the skip, wheelbarrow, etc
  13. Sounds interesting - I'm not sure that MMV could work with it though, as the scale is different. I also think combining drawbridge defence with castle seige might be hard, as the ground floor of dd is elevated 1 storey above that of the castle.... though it would make for a much grander main entrance if it were possible. Bring back the days of a truly modular castle!
  14. I have some fridge magnet 2x4s, they are just normal bricks with tiny magnets inside the hollow tube-type parts underneath http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=851009-1
  15. Search for dual sided in catalog items
  16. WOW! Thank you for sharing that, it's so detailed! A big tower like that could have been dull, but this is one of the most architecturally interesting MOCs I've seen .
  17. Well, I'm also a FFOL from London (though also half Welsh, oddly!), I'd better make sure my avatar has a different head/hair from you guys!
  18. Hooray! Thank You! I only chose that username because it's the same as the one I use for Classic Castle and Bricklink. I've been lurking here for a little while, but decided that it'd be good to become a proper member so I can take part . I live in London, UK. My favourite theme is Castle, actually it's pretty much the only one I buy/build, though I also dabble in Pirates . I also recently bought the new Campervan set, because I love the idea of having a home that was mobile - and discovered that the figs in that set look just like me and my husband !
  19. Hi, I'm new. I just realised I spelled Princess wrong. I'm a total n00b. Is there any possibility of changing it, does anyone know?
  20. It's a shame you weren't happy with your castle - I've had similar experiences with my never-ending quest to build the perfect castle. My main problem is that my requirements are too strict (huge banqueting hall, fireplaces that make sense in terms of lay-out, room for barracks, etc!). I actually never tried to use just one shade, contrary to the majority of AFOLs I just mix all the vaguely stone-coloured bricks together, because there's no way I'd have enough of just one shade to build anything decent. Anyway, I digress! Good luck for future building attempts, I hope you find a way to build what you want I really like the baseplate you used for the courtyard, also the detailing of the blacksmith's lodgings and the wooden part of the stables looks really cool
