  1. ....which is irritating, I always shout at the screen - "You MAKE the things, how hard can it be for YOU to find them?"
  2. even if the set was re-released it wouldn't affect the desirability for collectors of the original, as it wouldn't be in the same box, the colours of the figs wouldn't be EXACTLY the same as the originals, etc etc The same goes for anything else - as in another thread, some people are moaning that another release of the UCS MF would "devalue" the present one, which to a certain extent it would, as it now seems to be going for silly money on ebay etc, but it wouldn't make it any the less desirable for collectors (and those of us who hadn't quite decided they were going to spend that much on single sets when it was available....) Having said that, I agree that re-releasing something merely to make it available, especially a long time after its original release, is pointless - far better to to completely rework it with new techniques and pieces, to *hopefully* make a better model.... or even, given the fact that the main market IS for kids, better to play with....
  3. ~Yeah, I've seen a Vader in London Hamleys - but I could be pedantic about whether it was "life size" - as it was well under my height - and I'm only 6 foot 2"
  4. While to the AFOL community that might seem the extreme solution, sadly, the populace at large might consider it the "sensible" solution - and to those of us unable to buy overspill-houses - an ever-present threat..... and to wander ALMOST back on-topic, I was happy to find, amongst a random job-lot of lego pieces from a recent successful bid on e-bay, an almost complete yoda's hut and a couple of less common minifigs - not exactly a SET as such, but a pleasant bonus...
  5. and I now have a use for the free sharks I got with a couple of recent S@H orders
  6. yes, I have a very small flat, and most flat surfaces have lego on them..... after searching I finally found Madoka's bricklink gallery, I imagine the collection has grown a bit - any recent pics anywhere? to get back to the subject, my most recent purchase was probably the deathstar, using accrued VIP points it wasn't as painful as I feared - now all I have to do is find time and space to assemble it.... I THOUGHT I'd bought some of the new wave from amazon.fr - as the site didn't have an "available from" date on it, but once I'd placed the order it THEN announced they weren't actually available yet.... I may cancel and wait for them to appear on S@H - as I see the nightspeeder and geonosian fighter have appeared, albeit still "unavailable" - and that means I can get more VIP points ...
  7. the pics are generally relevant to the point he makes, and as the saying goes "A picture's worth a thousand words" .....
  8. Orders from S@H come from Denmark (via germany) anyway, so it's not really a UK-specific problem... I ordered mine online on the third, the initial order was during the day, but I didn't have the card I was using to pay at work, so had to wait until evening to finally place it - another battle of endor, and some magnets I'd been swithering about for ages - and it arrived with poster and ARF within a few days...
  9. I'm not a huge (or even small) fan of podracers, but the more pics I see, the more I'm having to revise my intention of completely ignoring these sets.... sigh, even more money diverted away from luxuries like food etc....
  10. did you actually follow the link you were given? (Click on "this guy's advice") it gives you advice on how to do just that....
  11. love the look of it - I'm sure I can remember seeing an actual brick version of this ... with folding sails, though it wasn't as sleek as this one... found it, now have to hope I've inserted the link correctly... This
  12. nice pics - love the background lighting in the second one...
  13. They're all good and I'm glad they will be rotated, but for me Rufus' , as it takes in all the films and CW, so reflects the inclusiveness of the forum best...
  14. to be fair, he didn't actually SAY "all asians look the same" but to compare someone who isn't bothered by small differences between lego models with someone who lumps everyone different from themselves in one category is perhaps a little over the top, and could cause offence... However, I would have to say that I've never taken Fallen's comments as unduly negative, or plonking, but then I've never had to be criticised by him (although none of the other MOC'ers seem to have taken offence, only third parties...) As far as only showing the relevant parts of the model, well that's fair enough, but if it IS a "version 9" then perhaps one pic of the whole model might have been helpful, to get some idea of the proportions, even if it IS only specific parts that comments and advice are being sought regarding...
  15. I could see how C3-P0 could be taken as a camp stereotype, but Darth Maul? Jar jar? ... the odd couple indeed... just noticed I have a tag thing - I'm scots in fact - so no hugh grant stereotypes from me
  16. I take that quote to mean - not that they didn't happen, but they happened in a time period other than that in any of the films - if they're licensed, then they ARE canon....
  17. yeah, it does seem a shame, as it seems unlikely there would be two large OT sets scheduled for the near future... however, it DOES seem to be a lot of speculation based on an alleged link on an unnamed japanese site that even the OP can't find again.... I'm not casting aspidistras, as I realise he's been a reliable source before, it just seems the response is wildly enthusiastic for what it's based on....
  18. british, actually.... I've only had one lego calendar previously, and as I got it after xmas, my daughters just ripped it open all at once, so I wasn't able to count.... however, OTHER advent calendars usually have a double sized set of doors/windows for the 25th - hence my disappointment apologies for wandering off topic....
  19. from the new "preliminary" advent calendar box, my rudimentary arithmetic makes 8 minifigs + 16 mini models = 24 ... no present on Xmas day then? unless perhaps that's what the tree is for....
  20. well, from my point of view, I started off getting random small sets, on impulse as I saw them in the shops, and then concentrated on collecting the minifigs, so generally bought sets off ebay - at the time, I think I may have just missed the original falcon as a "new" set, and I've never really seen it at a reasonable second-hand price, and in any case, it's not until recently that I've had enough disposable income to happily buy large sets new as they come out, generally not including UCS sets...sigh... - having just got all of the present wave, I now have a short breathing space until the summer wave - for which my wallet is thankful - and I'll be looking forward to finally getting a MF - although where I'll put it is another problem - space is becoming a problem... As far as the other sets go, sadly, it looks as if I'll have to get most if not all of them - despite already having 2 versions of the sith infiltrator already, not being a fan of the pod racers, and not being keen on random vehicles from THE Clone Wars - but, although I do just want them for the minifigs, unfortunately I regard it as "cheating" to get figs en-masse from BL - it's one thing getting a missing fig from a hard-to-find set, but getting lots of new ones from existing sets is just beyond the pale (for me at any rate, I don't mind what other people do :-) )
  21. yes, I can foresee pages of people arguing about blurry zoomed-in pixelated pics of what the minifigs are ... :-)
  22. yes, I mean when I click on the links there, all I get are servimg.com pages, with no picture... I've tried 3 different browsers with no luck :-( - it's obviously just me, as everyone else seems to be able to see it, but it is frustrating, seeing all the enthusiastically positive comments and not being able to see your great work for myself.... tantalising :-)
  23. are the pics still there? for some reason I missed this thread when it first went up, and now I can see no pics on the links.....
  24. I can't even see a link, never mind a photo...
  25. I think that referred to Amazon.fr - the new sets were available briefly, then the site said "available from june 1st" (and mine finally shipped yesterday )
