  1. I wasn't accusing you of anything, I am just a good old fashioned Lego purest and it was just an observation from your flicker posts. I do like some of the clone brand elements and modified parts but I wouldn't use them myself because its not a Lego solution. Like I said I like the moc . Dave
  2. A very nice train indeed. I like the way that you have displayed the train in the young Indiana Jones scene rather than focusing just on the engine details. It really brings it to life . Its a shame that you had to use non Lego parts on the boiler hand rails tho. Couldn't you find any other way to connect the hand rais without using the Brickarms monopod connectors?. Still a good moc regardless .
  3. I voted for the Gantry Signal Box by Nexus, I realy like that moc and live all the details such at the tile built walls. Good work

    City 2010

Those do look very interesting and it should be nice to see what the versions look like once some more detailed pics look like. I do like the aircraft however ive been a sucker for lego aircraft for years :-D.
  5. How exciting, I am very impressed with all the entries in to the contest and like I said before I hope it will inspire more people to start making more moc's. Thats exactly what its done for me . I have to say that I feel it has been a very well organised and coordinated contest Can I just ask how the voting will take place?.
  6. Thanks for the posative feedback guys!. like I said I have never been a big moc poster due to my lack of brick selection (just coming out of my dark ages ... missy its your fault ) I just hope that the fact that most of this was made from two 6375's and one 10138 will inspire other eurobricks vassal's to create other inspiering train moc's with limited bricks. I am proud of the locomotive it took a while to get to how it is an I am not 100% happy with it. Once I have finalised a version I am happy with tho I will post instructions if any one is interested. What do people think of the other cars? Dave
  7. ENTERED Boys and girls I present to you my first public train moc and my entery in to category 1. The Trans Rail Carrier. At first I wasn't going to submit an entry in to the contest due to my limited brick selection. Then my girlfriend decided she was going to buy me 10138 and after playing about with a few ideas and looking for inspiration I decided upon the Trans Rail Carrier. My idea for this theme is base around the 6375 Trans Air Carrier from from1990 and all the cars are branded with the Trans Air cargo logo. 6375 was not the first lego set I ever received for Christmas or birthdays but for some reason it is the first one that I can remember getting and always makes me smile when I see it. The one thing that used to bug me was that I never really had an extensive lego cargo network to connect the fright to the aircraft and my lego city. My how times have changed . My inspiration for the locomotive its self is the Southern Pacific Railroad EMD GP-9E and if any one is interested you can find more images on railpictures.net The train consists of five parts and I will show one photo in this post and then a link to my brick shelf folder for any one who is interested in seeing all the little details, I dont want to make this post to pic heavy. The locomotive The locomotive itself is built to minifig scale and can you can fit the two train engineers in to the cab. the locomotive is shown in the photos with out any motor however any of the standard bogy's can be changed to a 9v motor, the passenger (or staff) car and the inside ( it has a bathroom with reading material, toilet paper and a sink ) the flat bed wagon with the Trans Air Carrier aircraft the box car and cargo ( you should see the cargo this thing has inside, I'm not surprised they have an armed guard) the bay window caboose and inside ( there is a stove a work station, table and chairs and two bunks ... cozy! ) the train on the rails I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed the challange. brick shelf link when moderated
  8. My thoughts exactly, isn’t the other one a duplicated thread?. MODs maybe we could get the two threads merged and the topic amended slightly?.
  9. i just thought I would post an update that I found, http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/9/vie...lego-house.html

  11. lol no its fire wall restrictions. however its a good hint for other people that may be having issues with opening the file directly.
  12. I would love to check it out but unfortunatly the fire wall at work dosent seem to like the site. Shocking!. I will see if I can pick it up later on next week>
  13. Indeed, You will find that most people who are building trains are doing so with 9v track and motors.
  14. Not at all a simple thank you in the credits is fine by me he he!. I have been doing sets that I have and use but if you would like any thing done then by all means let me know and I will do it for the next version.
  15. Maybe tlg needs to change the way it markets those lines to the retail stores. Sure if it was my money and my shop I wouldn’t want to buy a case of a product if I didn’t know it was going to sell. Perhaps if they gave the retailers the ability to take say five items of stock with a zero return fee then things would be different. The stores wouldn’t have to worry about paying for an unproven product that may not sell and Lego could increase the availability and market the product to a wider audience. I may be missing the bigger picture here but if I was a manufacturer and I had a product that wasn’t selling very well I would do every thing I could to make sure my product was known about and in the face of every one of my potential customers.
  16. Just out of curiosity what would peoples ideas be if some one were to produce the elements requested. Would they buy non lego elements if the quality was good enough and unavailable from lego? If so in what volumes would people be likely to buy them?. I am asking as there were a few elements that I would really like to have and I had looked in too the possibility of trying to get cad designs of parts manufactured. However the initial start up price of having the parts tooled made it un realistic for personal use.
  17. Again this would be down to cost. At the time rc track was being developed Tlg probably looked at 9v as a dead product and probably couldn’t justify the cost of making a convertible track. If I had the money I would happily pay for moulds to be machined but Unfortunately ... I don’t he he
  18. My point exactly. If manufacturing costs became to high to justify the cost of production then it is doubtful that the tlg would resume make any more unless it was gong to be profitable. Unfortunately we don’t know what that magic number is and I doubt we will ever find out. If any one is looking for more track once the current supply dries up then I think that person has one of two options. A. Acquire / make a mould for 9v track and have this produced then fabricate the rails and have them attached to the track. B. Use or modify RC track with conductive material to allow electric motors to run. Personally I think A would be too expensive even for a cooperative effort and could infringe on copyright restrictions. .
  19. I had tried to use a process like that but I found I wasn’t happy with the results. I found that by making the images in paint I was able to get an exact representation of the set by refering to the instructions. I know they look a bit cartoon like and don’t have a photographic quality but I'm happy with the results for my maps.

  21. Good old ms paint
  22. The thing is it all comes down to cost and the good old supply and demand rule. As more people buy track on brick link etc then the price goes up due to limited supply and increased demand. If the tlg or any one else can find a way to increase supply then costs would come down. another issue is that we may not even have any reasonable or realistic idea of what the track costs to produce. I bet that for a long time tlg were subsidising the cost of track as the age of the moulds aged. What we need to know is if the base manufacturing price per piece of track before any one could even look in to taking this further. Would any one know where to get those details?.
  23. Some of us dont want to! Its a good idea and I personally would love to see the return of 9v tracks but I can see a number of issues ahead of any one that would try to reproduce the 9v track. As well as a mould for the injection plastic machines to use you also need to have the metal rails machined and applied to the track. I am pretty sure I read some where that this is what was driving up the cost of production and resulted it the 9v system being discontinued. If say some how we could get a hold of the moulds used for the track or make our own and possibly find a manufacture to make and apply the rails you would also need to ensure that the cost of the track is going to be less than the current brick link or ebay value otherwise you wouldn't have a viable product. Another alternative is to use rc track and fabricate a conductive rail that can be applied to the track. I have seen a few examples of people doing this with a self sticky foil that i used to shields pc's against radio interference but I honestly dont know how durable this would be.
  24. I love the bird box! Simple and very creative
  25. Good work! this is a very nice train. I also like the technique that you have the doors opening. I wonder if this could be used to give the bus from 7641 a more realistic set of opening doors. Keep up the good work! :-)
