  1. Super Star Destroyer (early Christmas present).
  2. Back in stock as of 11AM EST.
  3. Too slow... out of stock online.
  4. Grohl's interpretation is brilliant. Love it's look and functionality.
  5. I emailed Lego (US) about the Excavator problem and here is what they replied with: "First let me apologize for the difficulty you've had so far with your new 8043 Motorized Excavator. Our design team recently became aware of this issue and removed the item from our LEGO.com shop. We're now working feverishly to redesign the Linear Actuator - the source of these motor problems! We expect to have a solution up and ready within a few weeks." They go on to say I'm now on the list to receive the replacement LAs, or that I can get a full refund. I'm holding out for the new actuators. I wish everyone had as good customer service as Lego.
  6. Very cool! Looks like a Eurofighter.
  7. Very impressive looking. I love how 'solid' it looks. Got a rough estimate of the number of parts used?
  8. I agree. I have 8421 but the B model is refreshingly different. I'll probably pick it up just for that.
  9. 1. No 2. Individual 3. Big Ben 4. Supercar scale Porsche 5. More aircraft in technic
  10. Does anyone know what sets you need to build this model? I have 8458 Silver Champion, 8448 Super Street Sensation, and the 8653 Enzo to draw parts from.
  11. You should change your name to Da Vinci! Truly a marvelous piece of engineering and design.
  12. Found the bug: in manual no. 2, step 59 I placed the gear at the end of the axle, instead of a third of the way down. This meant that the gear had some wiggle room when torque was applied, causing it to skip since the axle didn't rest on anything at one end. Made the fix and now the loader works great. Thanks everyone for your input.
  13. I just finished putting together my 8265 loader. It looks fantastic but when I operate the lift mechanism I notice that the gears start skipping when I try to lower the lift arm. It operates correctly when raising the lift arm but not the other direction. If I remove the bucket then the lift arm operates smoothly. I also noticed that tipping the bucket worked in one direction and not as well in the other, with the gears skipping. It seems as if the LA's can't handle the load as the lift arm is lowered. I was hoping to motorize the model, but with the gears skipping as they are I don't think they would last long at all. Maybe I got a bad gear? I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue, or if I just missed something during the build. I did make sure to align both LA's so that they were both fully retracted when attaching them to the lift arm so that they wouldn't be skewed as well.
  14. I'm all for having the opportunity to buy the instructions. Even though I would love to reverse-engineer the Gallardo from pictures, I don't have the time to spend on a project like that. Having a chance to buy the instructions is great and puts the project within my grasp. I don't think charging for instructions is wrong or unethical. I suppose Anio is concerned that the Lego community we have here is being commercialized. However, I view it as an opportunity for some of the stars of our community to be compensated for their efforts to and to encourage them to continue to invest significant time and energy into producing things we all can appreciate.
  15. Nice review. I keep seeing them on ebay but haven't pulled the trigger. I just might now.
  16. A very creative, nicely executed, combination safe mechanism made out of LEGO. http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2009/07/l...TC-0D6B48984890 It would be great is LEGO made an offshoot of the technic line that focused on mechanical devices that aren't necessarily based on vehicles. I'd love to see a LEGO clock, slot machine, printing press etc.
  17. Here is a link to a picture of the parts set: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m1csw_7j44k/SjvN...ents_detail.jpg
  18. Wow, great find, thanks for sharing. It's interesting to compare the actual vehicle with the technic model, they did a good job capturing the look of the original. Looks like a solid, complicated set, can't wait to get it. The only drawback for me is the more excessive than usual reliance on decals. I can't stand them since they peel and flake off after while.
  19. I'm curious why you wouldn't buy it at all?
  20. I'm itching to get into some robot building with Lego Mindstorms. However, it seems that the verision 2.0 of Mindstorms NXT will be released in August. The biggest addition appears to be a color sensor, with perhaps some upgrades to the brick, but I don't know for sure. Just wondering what other people would do in this situation. Would you pick up a NXT set or sit tight for version 2.0?
  21. Excellent work! That's the level of building I'm aspiring to. Did you have schematics to help you build the M1? It looks dead on in terms of scale.
  22. How and where did you find this set? Are you in Europe? I thought it didn't come out until the summer. Very exciting, can't wait to read the review!
  23. Barnes and Noble carries Lego sets on their website and they currently have a 20% off online only coupon available. The code is H4E7B3W, good until May 2. They have free 3 day shipping as well. I picked up some pricey Technic sets with a nice discount this way, especially if you have a membership card with them.
