For CES?Did you ask at CES? I don't think they will give you one unless you are there.
-
That is against the rules and it won't work. Because each key is linked to the email that it was sent to. It will only work on an account that was signed up with the email that it was sent to. A side note, you can get Beta by going to CES, Jan 7-10 in Las Vegas.
-
Make sure that the account you are trying to put the code into has the email set to the address they sent the code to. The codes are email-specific. How did you get it?

Anyone who even shows up where a pod lands can get a testing key (technically alpha) you just have to tell them you're e-mail. See here about pods: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=35258

Strange pod found - maybe of alien origin?

There will be 7 pods, each unique, with unique pieces and minifigure. The first pod was found by the B. R. I. C. K. though, so people can't get that one. #2 was found in Florida. #3 will be in Texas in the next few days. -

It is a promotion for LEGO Universe. The website bradfordrant.org says that LEGO pods are falling from the sky (presumably from LEGO Universe). There are actual pods that are placed in LEGO stores and the such that people can get. -
Did you guys all get them from KIC? What was that about just being a good member? Did you do something special? KIC says you have to be 13 or under, but it looks like the rules are now changed, and anyone can join.

Okay, as I was posting on different forums about different things, something struck me... First you should know, There are LEGO pods falling from the sky as a promotion for LEGO Universe. see bradfordrant.org and this topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=35258 We are getting 4 letters in each pod and there will be 7. It struck me that maybe, these letters we are getting (NSEW and LRTH) could add up to the activation key. The thing is, with the key, there are 5 places, that accept 5 characters each, and with each pod giving 4 characters, we would get 28, not 25 letters. But maybe the last ones will have less letters.

Okay, as I was posting on different forums about different things, something struck me... First you should know, By going here: https://universe.lumini.lego.com/en-us/Account/Create.aspx You can create an account to be a LEGO Universe beta tester. The account on this part of the site is strangely different from a regular LEGO account. You have to accept a secrecy thing, but you can't play because you have to have gotten an email with an activation key. Look at this topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...mp;#entry629693 It struck me that maybe, these letters we are getting (NSEW and LRTH) could add up to the activation key. The thing is, with the key, there are 5 places, that accept 5 characters each, and with each pod giving 4 characters, we would get 28, not 25 letters. But maybe the last ones will have less letters. LEGO has said that employees and families are currently testing, but public testing will come later. -
Someone else found this also. He said he found it on the site, but not how. He contacted LEGO and they said the current Beta is only for employees and families, but other people will have a chance later.

You can't get the pod, it landed today, someone else got it. I didn't get it, just followed the news. I wasn't there. They said yesterday that it would be today. -

Okay, you wanted building instructions? You got um! http://www.bradfordrant.org/pod_01_build.html Looks like LDD, but it contains many parts that LDD doesn't have, even some that LEGO hasn't made, such as the 2x4 tile. Check out this video for a look at all the weird pieces: Also, someone said you can buy the chrome one on bricklink, I don't see it. The second pod landed today in Orlando! It also has a new chrome piece. -

This is LEGO Universe. Someone decoded the image and it has names of LEGO Universe places. -
Conveniently, one of the videos that I uploaded contains information. It says that you will be able to program your creations with the same programming language as Mindstorms. I personally have never used mindstorms, but I want to get them, so I don't exactly know how that works. The video that I uploaded is nearly 30 minutes long so it is in 3 parts. It contains quite a bit of information about LEGO Universe and is very interesting. It is basically a presentation by Mark Hansen, LEGO Universe's director. The part about programming is about 4:30 into part 3. Here are the videos: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

You can find the old (4-16) newsletter codes in the archive. I think they keep adding more, but never the newest newsletter. http://universe.lego.com/en-us/NewsNetwork...px?catid=115301

I doubt there will be separation. It might be nice though. There will be parental controls, such as if you are a kid, your parent can set how much you can play. For that you obviously need some way to tell age. There is one method that would probably work. It would be really annoying though. I think hotmail does something like this. It asks your age, if you say you are over 18, it asks for your credit card information, not to charge you, but to verify your age. If you say you are under 18, it asks for your parent's e-mail, and it sends an e-mail to your parent and asks if the age they put in is correct and asks for credit card information. This method would probably work, but it would be annoying and make people suspicious because they are entering credit card information. You might need credit card information anyway, for monthly payments, but if there is a free trial, or a free area, like I have heard rumors of, then people would get suspicious if signing up for the free part of a paying game and you need a credit card. Or you could not ask for it during the free part, but then if they start paying, you find out they lied and you have to modify their account or something. I'm not sure if this method will be used. Read the little bit mentioning parental controls here: http://universe.lego.com/en-us/gameinfo/FA...LEGO%20Universe?

Hehe. But I mean, there were at least 4 grammar and spelling problems in that one sentence.
-
No offense but I lol'd.

I kind of see that. But thing is, I posted some comments reporting creations the day that news came out (April 29) and those comments are still pending while I posted some other comments on May 1 that didn't report creations and those have been accepted. Some other comments have been approved from only 2 days ago. Obviously they are recognizing them as reporting comments, which is good, and treating them specially but that special treatment is taking a while.
-
What in the world... They've never removed the stories before. That is very strange. Anyways, google still had it cached so here is what it said: Another weird thing is that I have left comments reporting stolen creations and it has been a week and nothing has happened. My normal comments get approved but these comments just stay pending and nothing happens. It seems like those comments are just put into a holding tank for someone special to go through who never does.

I see TLG is trying to take action. They just released this news article asking people not to plagiarize. They also say to leave a comment on a plagiarized creation saying it is copied. LEGO Univierse : News Network - General News - Creation Lab capers

I doubt that they will. They don't allow links in comments.

That is from a site that sells custom clone troopers. Here is the link.
