  1. Well they were all there but still in their shipping boxes when I was in on Tuesday and hadn't made the shelves. I was in on Thursday and they had new star wars sets (and I think Indy too but I was in a rush), including about 4 echo base's. But I was in there today and they were sold out of echo bases (guess someone's been stocking up ), and I had to go to Queensgate farmers for one. Queensgate definitely had Ambush in Cairo, the Chauchilla Cemetery Battle, and a bunch of new star wars, but I wasn't paying much attention with my 19 month old in tow. Haven't seen the Venerator yet at farmers. So I am now +1 echo base and it is SO cute. I love the visors followed by the Taun-Taun and the turret. I really like the tank droid but I can't justify buying it at the moment as I am trying to limit my Lego purchases to mostly OT sets. With Endor and Home one coming out this year, and the off chance that the death star might turn up in stores (& on sale) sometime I need some money aside. I won't be able to pass on endor but I'm not sure I can justify the cost of home one for an A-wing and some (very cool) mini-figures.
  2. Well I saw farmers manners mall unpacking the latest indy sets...
  3. Went out to 'North city' this morning, Farmers didn't have the echo base but it was at TW and the warehouse. Anakins fighter was at most places, and so was the separatists shuttle No sign of home one, the Venerator, or battle of endor yet. I really want echo base but the box is just so darn light and I don't like buying a $50 set that is really just an overpriced battlepack...
  4. well the Venerator price in in line with TW's price for the Star Destroyer which was also $300 but only $220 on S@H. We can but hope that it is not a TW exclusive (which it probably is). In other news I picked up a Hyena Bomber (no figs) for $5 with local pick up from trademe, talk about bargain!
  5. Thinking about it I don't think I can bring myself to spend $50 on one minifig (I saw your TM auction). To quote Luke "we could almost buy our own ship for that" (i.e. his Tie at kmart on a 15% off sale) I had a look at the prices on bricklink so unless he's going 'cheap' it's not for me. Still.... *drool* & good luck.
  6. Well if you can get 4 extra I wouldn't say no. I'm sure I could scrounge enough other bits together to mod my blue one to red but those wings are the killer. That and they don't exist in black so no Darth Vaders Actis fighter without paint or custom flaps. The other bricklink/Pick-a-brick project I have on the cards, is modding Jango Fett's Slave one to the size of the latest Boba Fett Slave one. I thought Jango's was cool until I got Boba's. Now I'm just a bit disappointed in it so it will live in it's box till I have the bits to mod it (which I probably could cannibalize from my old Lego collection, but some of those whites are quite old and a bit yellow so new is better). Same goes for the old Imperial shuttle compared to the new Republic attack shuttle. I really hope they re-design that set, so I can sell my old one. I probably won't buy anything more until the OT sets come out later in the year. (Spend some money on other hobbies instead, or save) I have no room left.
  7. the catch is that the red 'fins' on the end of the wings only come in that set (AFAIK), so to get them as parts someone has to have parted that set which will likely be more expensive overall.... It is one set I would like but don't have as I have both the blue and yellow Actis fighters. P.S. Farmers has a cardholders day this Thursday with 20% off toys.
  8. mmmmm Chrome Vader....... drool... If we are to fight for it I vote swords..... (in short I would be interested depending on cost of course)
  9. Makes me want to sell mine. If only I had a second emperor.... guess I'd really need the new death star then :D
  10. I picked up the Republic attack shuttle last night from k-mart for ~$85. What a bargain! I have to say I was very happy with the build and the features and even more happy at the size for that price. I keep looking at it thinking it would make a great basis for a tyderian shuttle too. I had to try very hard to resist buying a jungle cutter at ~$45 and the Troll warship for ~$70. I just don't have the space and I don't think there'd be enough of a return in buying them to sell it on trademe. I mean there is a reason that they are clearance items that have been marked down that far. I really like that Troll warship though, but there is so much other stuff coming out this year that I want more with my finite resources. Sam, if you find yourself with a spare hoth set I'd be fairly happy to do a complete(used) one w/ mini-figures for about ~$100 (i.e. RRP). I passed it up at $80 in favour of the republic cruiser at $160 back when it was in shops, and still love the cruiser but miss not having the hoth set to go with my 2 AT-AT's and snow-speeder. Can't wait for the echo base set to come out. Fox, i don't think $10 will make me sell my minis, even if I did buy them for $5 new (~1/4 of RRP IIRC)
  11. I agree that 25% and 30% is preferable, but you usually can't get everything you want at that discount. 20% off on the other hand is what I tend to budget against. You can usually buy everything you want at 20% at some point. I therefore tend to ignore lesser sales but hang out for the 20% ones where I actually buy stuff. Fox has just reminded me that I believe I have a couple of the old mini AT-TE's, RGS's and Sith Infiltrators which I could be persuaded to trade for the right offerings. I also have a 8002 Destroyer Droid that I don't really have the space for, complete with box and instructions if anyone was interested. There is not much OOP stuff that I want desperately other then then an A-wing (which is in Home One anyway) and some manga droids. I would also like the Droid gunship & the V19 Torrent (which I am still contemplating) and frankly most things from this years star wars or Indy ranges. Of course there is a bunch of stuff that I wish I had bought too but I'm being cheap about to buy now: - Hoth base (oh why did I not buy it when I had the chance? damn limited edition) - Mos Eisley Cantina (well Greedo really) - Star Destroyer - Sail Barge - Ultimate Space Battle If only I had the budget and the space for it all...
  12. Sorry for the late notice, Farmers is having a cardholders day today (Thursday 5/3/2009). 20% off Toys for Cardholders (or those willing & able to become one)
  13. I want some of arealights sweet Twilek heads if anyone is doing an order, but he doesn't have any at the moment.
  14. Hi ColdBricks I was just looking at the magnets tonight, the new magnet sets look sweet. Pity that there's nothing good on sale (and in stock) at the moment that helps subsidize the shipping. My problem is that there are so many little things I want from S@H that it soon adds up (and the magnet sets ain't cheap, except by trademe/ebay standards for minifigures). As an example, if we ordered 5 magnet sets each that's $70 shipping. Split two ways it's still $35 each + additional shipping if we live in different areas. (I'm in wellington) I'd be keen to chip in for shipping if shipping was split enough ways or there was something that made it worthwhile, as there's some things that I want that you can only get from S@H or bricklink. (like the IR remote and receiver and pick a brick) Wish we had a Lego branded store in NZ.... oh and for those that haven't seen Medieval Market is now available from S@H
  15. thanks Sam. I'm going with irony for discussing NZ Lego on the 'EURO'bricks forum.
