The part where the windows are would - if you'd put it next to any of the existing modular buildings so far - look out on their backyards, since this is the first modular to use the full depth of the base plate. The other have 8 studs of backyard. Svelte, you've outdone yourself again. A very informative and entertaining review of a truly excellent set. GG still tops off the line, but this certainly comes in at number two.

The day is drawing to an end. The sun has almost set. I see no way Pvt. Gale can escape conviction. Pvt. Entaine seems to have been able to convince multiple people of his innocence. And although the leaders of this Regiment haven't been as forthcoming as I'd expected and requested them to be, I also haven't heard any really convincing arguments to suggest any one of them is a deserter. Therefore, the only right thing to do for today seems to be to trust the judgment of the majority and leaders of this Regiment. My vote should therefore be seem as support for my trust in the honorable status of the majority of this proud Regiment and not the confidence in any specific private or superior. Vote: Pvt. Dan Gale (def) Pvt. Dale, please know that your impeding death will not be in vain, for either we have convicted a deserter, or we know a whole lot more about the people who raised the initial suspicion against you.
-
I felt you did the right thing by at least questioning the higher ranked and I also feel this should not be the reason for any accusations against you Pvt. Gale. You have yourself however also pointed the finger at the Provost Guards and the Lieutenant by voting for them without any concrete evidence, which goes considerably further than merely questioning their judgments. Should this be sufficient for your conviction? I'm yet undecided.
-
I honestly do not know what to think about all these accusations and subsequent revoking of accusations. Either, the accusers are diverting attention away from the real deserters by targeting honorable men of our regiment or they are rightfully reconsidering their initial suspicions. Should the latter be the case, the deserters probably have an incentive to remain silent at this moment and are not speaking up at all, in order to not to attract attention to themselves. Looks like we're back to square one again... with so little time left...

I do... ... but the ladies on here seem to think differently... ;)

I suppose you can't vary the rank pictures (knight, count, etc.) - keeping the rank groups themselves intact - based on the gender variable? I that way you could vary the color of the star slightly (or give the girls a pink edge ).
-
You can set your gender in your profile. Problem with this is that it only 'shows' as either a blue or a pink icon next to your name in your posts when you're online. Couldn't you - root admin - use this variable to automatically set a tag (or something else) to indicate gender? Not that I think it's necessary (by the time you reach knight and higher, almost everyone will know whether you're male or female, and picking an appropriate name and avatar can help as well), but there seems to be an interest for this from the lady's side.

Lieutenant Pellcan, sir, you have this morning called upon all your men to share any information they'd have with you in private. Have you heard anything there that lead you to your suspicion this afternoon? I believe transparency about this would be in order, because as you probably know it is transparency which leads us to have faith in our direct superiors.

Set 7183, found on a google search, fake or not?

... and the 11th anniversary set. (not from the same couple, it seems) -
Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag, Holodoc... and a Happy Birthday to Athos.

Questioning someone, accusation if you like, is indeed a means of getting to answers, ... ... but if all - or even a majority - of your privates would simply follow your lead, Sir, Private Entaine would not have had a chance to defend himself, because then a verdict would have been reached already. Now do note that I do not have any reason to defend Private Entaine, I just think we should let him speak before voting against him, but I also do not have a reason to be overly suspicious about him.

For the Dutch-speaking part of the world, eti presented this MOC on the LowLUG forum a while ago.

I'm with privates Gale and Shadón on this so far. I'm sure everyone misses their families during such a long war. But I'm convinced this isn't the number one reason to betray our regiment and our country. For deserting this fine regiment certainly isn't in the best interest of anyone's family. Your family will be without any income and you'll likely be on the run for the rest of your life, 'cause our brave nation doesn't take the act of deserting lightly. And I too find this jumping on the captain's bandwagon suspicious. Again, someone is targeted merely because he was trying to bring order to this chaos. Chaos is only benefiting the deserters among us, because noone has more to gain from a divided regiment. Surely the odds of us voting off an innocent honorable soldier are far greater than us voting off one of them, because I refuse to believe they outnumber us. The odds are on their side, let wisdom be at our side.

Excellent work on the interior, TheBrickster. You really managed to utilize the interior space well. Just not so sure about the combination of tan and yellow. But then again, your choice of 'fences' is probably limited by the available colors. Well done mate!

Licensed or unlicensed new Western sets?
Rick replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Still plenty of opportunities in the line. And I would definitely prefer classic yellow minifigs. We've had the - short-lived for now - return of Pirates and the new Castle line shows resemblance to the 1980s line, so the return of Wild West is indeed imaginable. -
You should start reading Classic-Town.net (a bit of shameless promotion here ), MetroiD blogged this a while ago...

Set 7183, found on a google search, fake or not?

I saw this quite some time ago and I must admit... Yeah, he even sealed the plastic bags inside. And the box art is really excellently done. Now someone get Sandy some custom Lego sets (don't look at me, I'm happily married). -
Welkom / Welcome to Eurobricks Michel

This turned out really well. I like the way you've made the back: the grille tiles aligned with the rest of the body the striping, and the Technic gear. The front is nice as well. The only thing that bothers me a bit there is the overhang of the front window.

Interesting thought. The first two doors were just designs leading up to THE Lego scale, minifig scale. And I agree with you that the 4-wide, 5-high door was just perfect for minifigs. The door with glass, door with 4 panes, and door with 6 panes provided an excellent palette of doors. In my view there is a role for a 6-high door that is found in today's set. I think it looks good on shops, together with the 6-high windows. However, the 6-high equivalent of the door with 4 panes just looks silly in my opinion and it shouldn't be used on houses, as it just looks too high compared to a minifig. But I'm afraid we've lost our beloved 5-high doors, where I hoped they would continue to exist next to today's doors. But I guess it's just more economical for TLG to use the same frames for doors and windows.

You've 'castlified' this set really well Slyowl by capturing all the essentials of the original. I assume this is an entry for the Classic-Castle Time Twisters contest? edit: I just read in Sir Dillon's frontpage that it indeed is for the Time Twisters contest.

Brandenburger Tor is great. I really like the half stud offset you used at the top. The use of studs-out below that to represent the decorations there works really well (never be afraid to show your studs ). I don't know the Moscow State University - I looked up some pictures just now - and it looks nice as well, especially the decorative element on top. It was clear what that was supposed to represent without even looking up pictures of the building.

The Imperial Flagship - How long 'til it's gone?

Don't mean to sound suspicious, but where did you get this information?
