-DungeonsandBricks/ D&D for legos!-
AhabDarab replied to Dan the Brickman's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Hello. I too am a Brickquest fan. I have been working on a campaign system for 6 months now. Peter Guenther (I hope I spelled his name right) created Brickquest, and is glad to allow others to adapt it to their needs. I suggest looking at his system before you do anything else. Actually, I would pay for lego NOT to make the cubs. Honestly though, I think only half of the world would be interested in this (North and South America as well as some of asia) Sadly, I don't think this idea would work for TLC. Ahab out................................

I'm going to design a Lego Pirate tabletop game.

I myself am a fan of Evil Stevie's Pirate Game (link posted earlier in this thread). Evil Stevie is in reality Steve Jackson, world famous game designer. His rules are available for free (for this game at least ) . Ahab out......... -
This is true, I'm the one who asked Steve. After the ceremony, I got Steve on the side and explained the situation here on the forums. He said it was ok to quote him on his statements about elves or any thing else he might have said. So to say again, Lego's North American office says "No elves, and there never will be." (I also posted this in the other elves thread it this forum) Ahab out.................................

Hello, I tried to send you a PM but I seem to be having an issue. I'll post again if it can't get it to work.......... Edit..... It seems I'm not allowed to make PM's in the forum. I'm not sure why. I checked my settings. Needless to say, I'm in the Chicago area as well. I am interested in buying baseplates. If you can send me a pm please feel free to do so. Ahab out................

The animal I wanted most was a cow (thanks Lego ) I would have to go with fantasy animals (3 headed dragon, manticore, ect) A zoo theme would be the last on my list, but it would be on my list. Ahab out.....................

Hello everyone. I have to be honest, the fantasy sets are the only reason I know this web site exists. For 2 decades I have seen Lego sets and walked right past them. Some caught my eye, but never enough to give thought of making a purchase. Last year I saw the dwarven mine set and I broke. I now own 3 mines, 3 troll warships, 5 king's castle sieges, 1 MMV, and more small sets than I can count. In addition, I have won several auctions for older sets to replace those lost through time. Finally, I have made many purchases through BrickLink. The end result of all of this? Four of my adult friends are buying new lego fantasy sets for themselves as well as one more for his kids. Final total= no dwarves or trolls means 6 fewer AFOL's in my world. I like all Lego Castle sets, but I love the fantasy sets. Ahab out................

Knight's kingdom's Royal King's Castle is Back!

Thanks for the tip. I may have missed this if you had not pointed it out. :) Ahab out...................... -
So your the one that beat me there :) . I live in Bartlett (near Elgin). I was in the day before but only had enough money for 5 Troll Warriors and a tic tac toe set. When I came back later with more money, the day after, they were sold out. At least I know they went to a good home :). I use my extra crownies for other factions. I just print out stickers, and press them on. I can easliy remove them if I ever need to. If you ever come across another sale like that, please feel free to drop me a line after you have grabbed all you need. I'll be certain to do the same. Thanks in advance. Ahab out..............

With the yellow mountain, owl, and the girl riding... I'd have to guess "Wildfire". A sappy 70's song, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't like it. :) Ahab out.....................

I just did a little homework. It seems that the term "ork" is a trademark of Games Workshop. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/...002&start=5 I do know there was a legal case in the late 1970's where Tolkien's estate went after TSR games. That is why in the first printings of D&D halflings are refered to as "hobbits" and trents are refered to as "ents". After the lawsuits resolution, Gygax and TSR were forced change the names. Hello everyone. I'm generaly just a lurker, but this thread made me feel like joining this forum. I have noticed many similarities, however I feel they may come from a completly different direction. I do agree that Tolkien is the grandfather of this part of the fantasy world. As the Beatles have now inspired several generations of musical artists, I feel Tolkien has done the same. Gary Gygax (D&D, Advanced D&D, ect), Richard Garfield (Magic the gathering), Games Workshop (Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, ect), Warcraft and WoW, just to name a few that are old and new in the gaming industry alone. Snow White's dwarves were miners. The dwarves from Narnia (inspired by Tolkien directly?) seem to be miners as well. On a side note, I believe the green skinned people in the Lego Castle world are called trolls due to a legal reasons. I believe that the estate of Tolkien holds the rights to the spelling "orc", and Games Workshop holds the rights to the spelling "ork". I believe any one who uses either of these 2 spellings may have to pay a small royalty to the right holders. As far as I know, no entity holds any right on the term "troll". Trolls have been around in fairy tales for quite a long time, and are considered mythical monsters in some cultures as dragons or yeti might be. I will say I did not research this, and may have made mistakes. Please feel free to have your own opinion, this only represents mine. Ahab out...................................
