  1. Sure - enjoy ! Cheers, D.
  2. To be honest, I think most of the people on the forums would probably qualify for a "spends too much on LEGO" tag, so don't hold your breath ! D.
  3. The reason I think most people seem to favour this orientation may be because it's anatomically correct; if you put your arms out straight, the comfortable resting position is with the thumbs facing inwards and the fingers outwards making a 'C' shape. Positioning the minifig hands flat side up (as in the picture above) mimics this. D.
  4. There is a set number on it - 853219. It's clearly legit - same style as the recently released Alien Conquest Battle Pack (set number 853301) which I bought at the London LEGO brand store yesterday D.
  5. I was thinking the same - great to have you on the forum and quickly responding to questions, Eric - it gives me confidence about the product and the company. I hope you're also getting lots of valuable feedback and food for thought from the experts on here. I was wondering if you've considered setting up a rudimentary distribution netwrok for the rails outside the U.S.; maybe you could identify a few suitable Bricklink sellers in some of the key countries who could effectively be "agents" for the product, thus cutting down on shipping costs and reducing shipping times ? Just a thought. D.
  6. Another lazy remake. If you own the previous version, there's nothing to recommend this at all apart from a different set of figures and an unnecessary vehicle. I'm all for remakes if they improve on the original, but this is a thoughtless waste of time, with no purpose or value other than to extract as much money from us as possible. Shame on you, LEGO - you need to do a lot better than this. D.
  7. Thumbs up from me, although the minifigs are entirely unnecessary. Eye-watering price though - it ties for most expensive LEGO set ever with the UCS Falcon which has 2000 more pieces...... D.
  8. I hear the LEGO hotel is cool.....wonder how far in advance they take bookings....!
  9. Work and family commitments permitting, I'll be there. D.
  10. Thanks for the review, LegoCityMann - I agree with Rufus that the pics could have been sharper, but very useful anyway. A friend in the U.S. is sending me one of these sets and I'm looking forward to it even more now ! Cheers, D.
  11. Hey, def - I just think the original design is awful. Clunky and ridiculous. While none of the Star Wars vehicles are real, of course, you can at least imagine that some of them *could* be real in some alternative universe. I can't imagine anyone designing a craft as impractical and unnecessarily ugly in *any* alternative universe, however.... Nice review, though ! D.
  12. Great review, nice figures, but the craft itself is the thing of nightmares - what an ugly monstrosity. I remember the days when machines from the Star Wars universe looked cool - when did that change ? Not LEGO's fault, of course, and the model looks like a fair approximation of the subject material. With subject material like this, however, it gets ever harder to remain a LEGO Star Wars completist.... D.
  13. Just wanted to add my voice to the army of admirers - this is a truly amazing creation ! It would have been brilliant without all the interior details, lighting etc., but when you factor those into the mix as well it's incredible ! Can't wait to see what you build next..... D.
  14. Nice pics, Chris - it'd be great to know "who's who".... D.
  15. Nice review - thanks ! For me the main omission is some discussion of the unusual COLOURS in the set. Can you comment on the light blue colour in Filmore and the green in Sarge ? Both look new to me, maybe appearing for the first time in this theme. D.
  16. Many thanks for the fantastic review - much appreciated. I love this set. It captures the vibrancy of the original Cars movie beautifully, and Luigi and Guido look great ! When this theme was originally announced I had no intention of buying the sets - I didn't think I'd be interested. Not so sure I can resist now, however....! D.
  17. Cheers - very nice review, and all that purple looks lovely ! I find it very hard to love the design though. While I wasn't expecting accuracy in a play set like this, am I alone in thinking that the bus looks absolutely awful ?! It looks like it was designed by a child. Which is perhaps the point I guess.... While I'm sure that under 12's will enjoy building and playing with it, I wonder how many older people will just get it for the parts and minifigs...?! D.
  18. Fully agree. Big deal - it's a nice box. Shame the contents are so uninspiring. I can live with endless remakes providing the models themselves are an improvement over what's gone before. Unfortunately in this case someone forgot to make any improvements.....
  19. Congratulations - a worthy winner. As others have already said, when I saw the winning entry on the EB front page I genuinely thought it was an 'official' second wave Pharaoh's quest set ! Well done ! D.
  20. Thanks, CopMike. I assume you guys will post details on exactly where and when to meet prior to the event, so I'll keep checking back here. D.
  21. Any more details about the possible visit to the LEGO call center on Friday afternoon yet ? I'd be interested to know what there is to see. I'll try and get the afternoon off work to join with you guys for the trip if possible. D.
  22. Thanks, Bonaparte - helpful. I will keep checking back for more details as we get nearer the event. You may not remember this, but it was you that originally told me of the existence of Eurobricks a few years back when I contacted you about a set on your Bricklink store. I'm looking forward to putting a face to the avatar ! Cheers, D.
  23. Thanks for the updates. I have work commitments around the time of the event BUT as a 'local' who also has an annual pass to LEGOLAND Windsor I will hopefully be able to hook up with you guys for at least some of the programme..... looking forward to more specifics (times and exact locations of activities) so I can plan. Any idea when a detailed agenda will be available ? D.
  24. Another excellent set in a very nice new theme....in the interests of limiting my spending I had wondered whether I might be able to pass on these Alien Conquest sets, but they're just too good to miss. D.
  25. Thanks for the review. This is a good-looking model. Just a pity that most people won't get to build it because it's being wasted on Brickmaster......... D.
