Download the instructions for set 7146 from the Lego website - that'll help you build a basic TIE fighter. The link below will take you to the correct page : Lego 7146 Dr. D.

I'm going to the Jedi Temple to start my training, I hope!
drdavewatford replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Superb models, Legostein ! I also love your Eiffel Tower model. You don't by any chance have a piece listing to go with the instructions, do you ? Thanks ! Dr. D. -
Nice job, Cam - another excellent review ! I have this set, but it's still sealed and waiting to be built. I think your enthusiasm has just moved it nearer to the front of the build queue ! Please keep the reviews coming. Cheers, Dr. D.

I don't see why we're getting all these "what a great idea" messages on here - people, it's hardly different to the current scheme, except that the rewards have been reduced !! Great. This was a great opportunity to at least combine the scheme with Lego S@H purchases, but this hasn't been done, so really this is just rebranding the current scheme and giving us less. I need to check whether the 'conversion rate' for existing points is also less than before, and if so spend my points ASAP. Disappointed. Dr. D.

Star Wars The Quest for R2-D2; Full game now online
drdavewatford replied to lego maniac's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks to all concerned for the 4 Malevolence instruction booklets. I was surprised there was no inventory of parts at the end of part 4, so if anyone has the parts listing please share ! I'd also love to see the final finished version....wonder who will build it first ? Many thanks, Dr. D. -

Anyone like to guess the final piece count ? I initially thought a couple of hundred, but looking closer it may be double that. Bricklink would probably be the cheapest place to get the pieces, unless of course you're prepared to cannibalise all your 2009 sets and mix up the pieces in which case I guess it's free ! Dr. D. -
Wow. I have to say that as only an occasional visitor to the Train Tech area of the site I'm absolutely astonished by the high quality of these MOCs. It was nearly impossible to pick a winner, but I eventually chose Kris's Train Station. I would love to park my Emerald Night outside that station ! Huge kudos to all the entrants, though - superb. Dr. D.

I like it, but I think that the supplied X-wing should be the 6212 X-Wing or a similarly-sized variant. This would mean that the rest of the model would need to be scaled up a bit, which would also be an improvement. Then it would make for an excellent 'official' release - I'd certainly buy it. Of course, it you REALLY wanted to go to town, the set could come wth a bigger hanger to also house a MF and even a B-Wing, but now I'm just getting greedy.....! Dr. D.

Dead right - I'm not going to play the game just so I can get these instructions !! Thankfully, I can't see it being a problem if he or others are playing the game anyway. Dr. D. -

Hmmm - I like the look of that ! I'm not playing the game, so would hugely appreciate if you guys would keep posting further sections of the instructions as you get them. Cheers ! Dr. D. -
I have to admit that I'm also waiting for Anio's friend to finish writing instructions for the Venator - I recently finished building Anio's excellent UCS TIE Fighter using the instructions provided by Oxycrest, and now I'm looking for an even bigger challenge !! Dr. D.

Given that I'm trying to collect all the Lego Star Wars sets, I regret not buying them when they were still at their RRP and being sold by Lego..... Trying to get some of the older sets at a reasonable price is challenging, and would have been unnecessary had I emerged from my Lego dark ages earlier. I finally got hold of a MISB Darth Maul bust yesterday, for instance, but paid quite a lot more than I would have done had I bought it in 2001 when it was released. Still, we live and learn. For the record, not including currently available 'new' sets, I need 9 more and then I can finally rest....! Dr. D.

Thanks, Kim. Interestingly, I get a "set number not recognised" message when I enter the set number in the "download replacement instructions" area of the Lego site. Makes me wonder how anyone ever found the instructions in the first place, and indeed if there are any other instructions floating around in Lego's website for Star Wars sets that didn't make it into production...... Cheers, Dr. D.

Got the Visual Dictionary today - it's absolutely excellent. I would advise any Lego Star Wars fans to move heaven and earth to get this - it's truly worth it. The minifig is really just the icing on the cake. Dr. D.

OK Lego Star Wars fans, here's an interesting one - a review of a set which I don't believe has ever been on sale in stores, but which I stumbled across on Brickset : Brickset link to 6968 Is it a 'real' Lego-designed set or is it not ? If anyone can tell me I'd be grateful. I liked the look of it, however, so decided to build it, a task made much easier because there is a link to some instructions on Brickset. The link is as follows : 6968 Instructions This set may have been given away promotionally at some point, but I've never seen a photograph of a packet to go with it or even 'official' printed instructions, so it genuinely may never have been available at all. Name: Wookie Attack, or should that be "Wookiee Attack".....not sure Theme: Star Wars Number: 6968 Year: 2005 Pieces: 48 Minifigs: None Price: N/A (parts sourced via Bricklink, total cost between £5 and £10 which I guess is pricey for a mini set) No box, but here are the parts : Despite the small size there are some pieces in interesting colours - I particularly like the 4 sand blue dishes in 2 sizes, a couple of dark blue tiles with Grille and a couple of transparent orange 1 x 2 bricks. As previously stated, the instructions are available at the link above. I printed them out - 2 pages in total - and here's a shot of the first page : No minifigs with this set, although you could always dig out set number 7190, 7258 or 7260 and borrow a Wookiee from there...... It's a quick, easy build. Here it is from the side : And from an angle : And from the front : It looks like a bug-eyed frog from the front ! Conclusion Design: 8/10 (Nice - quite an elegant little model) Price: 5/10 (Some tricky pieces to source, and hence the cost - not likely you'll have sand blue dishes or transparent orange bricks lying around......) Minifigures: N/A Playability: 6/10 (My boy's not too sure what to make of it, and I'm really too old to be zooming it around the table !) Overall: 7/10 (an unusual mini set that I suspect few people have ever built, and certainly worth having, especially if you just HAVE to have all the Lego Star Wars sets.....) Cheers and happy building, Dr. D.

James May to build life size lego house!
drdavewatford replied to allanp's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There's no other way of saying it - this is a disgusting waste. The pictures of workmen taking hammers to all those new Lego bricks just makes me angry. If James May REALLY loved Lego he would have thought this through before taking advantage of everybody's time and effort (not to mention the donation of so many bricks) so that this situation would not have arisen. Even if he couldn't find a taker for the house in advance, why not just charge people to help dismantle the house and keep a bag of bricks each, and give the money to charity ? Physically smashing the bricks is a disgrace. As it stands, this has ended up just looking like a cynical publicity stunt with a sour ending. :-( Dr. D. -
Like it a lot - more, please ! Assuming this isn't a scan (it certainly doesn't look like one), what software did you use to put it together ? Dr. D.
-
Excellent review, paanjang16 - nice job ! I agree that this is a nice set, and it has some very interesting parts and colours. it can be picked up from eBay for a very reasonable price - well worth getting ! Dr. D.

Not including the mini versions, I think 6212 is actually the 5th version ! Previously we've had 7191 (UCS X-Wing), 7140, 7142 (re-release of 7140), 4502 (Dagobah) and finally 6212. I'd have to say that 7191 is the best, and I love 4502 because of Yoda's hut, but 6212 is I guess the most 'realistic' of the non-UCS versions. Dr. D.

Complete Gallery with Every Star Wars Minifig?
drdavewatford replied to thespurs200708's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I like the Brickset listing of minifigs best - it's easy to follow, shows all the different variants/counterpart versions AND allows you to mark the ones you have, so it's great for collectors. Dr. D. -
Best SW set in the 10 years of Lego Star Wars
drdavewatford replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Really hard to choose, but I'd go for 10188 Death Star as my number 1 - a joy to build. 10030 ISD would be my second choice - not such an interesting build, but the finished model is awe-inspiring. Third place goes to the UCS Rebel Blockade Runner which I still can't bear to deconstruct even though I need the space ! I didn't include the UCS Millenium Falcon in my votes because I haven't built it yet - it's safely packed away waiting for my Christmas Holidays when I will have uninterrupted time to build it ! Dr. D -
I know I'm late for the raffle BUT I still wanted to acknowledge the excellent work of Anio and his superb Star Wars MOCs - UCS TIE, Podracer and AT-TE. He also gets extra credit for having worked with a friend to produce detailed and professional instrcutions for the TIE and Podracer (including a piece inventory), and just to top it all off he's quickly and helpfully responded to my messages when I've been trying to source the parts to make my own copies of the MOCs - superb guy, and a credit to the AFOL community ! Dr. D.

Many thanks for the store calendar, emilec ! Just a pity that there is no "double reward points" week in September. :-) Dr. D.

Great - all we need is for someone to put Bonaparte in touch with Dan Boger and we have lift-off (maybe !) Incidentally, someone mentioned Peeron co-founder Jennifer Finch in an earlier posting. I realised quite coincidentally that I'd actually bought some parts off her Bricklink site a few days ago and so I just had to e-mail her back and thank her for giving Peeron to the world !! I also discovered why the site is called Peeron..... Cheers, Dr. D.
