This is an absolutely amazing build. Hinck, I'm really impressed by your colour choices. Now with that out of the way, is it possible that we could see more photos of this masterpiece without the glass case obstructing the otherwise amazing view.

Done. Having our voices heard as AFOLs is always appreciated, even if the Survey is brief. It sounds like LEGO at planning more public events.

Interesting question. Personally I'm more inclined to call it a MOC. While it certainly borrows from existing sets, the design itself is different enough to be classified as a MOC. While the aesthetic is certainly consistent with the Dragon Knights theme, the design is most certainly yours and not the LEGO group's. When looking at mods I find that the source material is usually easy to identify. Your creation simply borrows from the same parts bin.

That's a shame. The work you have here looks wonderful. That castle had the potential to be something quite special. I certainly hope that the untimely demise of your castle won't discourage you from building more castle-themed MOCs. I always hate seeing these wonderful MOCs that aren't completed as I can only wonder how amazing the final product might have been. Good luck on your next project!

I actually think that LEGO may have nailed it with these figures but I think the success of the line will be driven by the sets themselves. It will be interesting to see how girls respond to this theme. It seems to me that even when a company thinks it has all of the key components for success, something intangible is still missing.

Strangely enough, I was there in August 2010 and I took some photos of the same sign. It's one of the most picturesque ruins I've had the opportunity to visit. Unlike many larger sites with ruins, there aren't too many tourists poking around disturbing the scenery.

That is simply beautiful. No other words are necessary except to mention that the Rolls is also a real work of art. Fantastic work.

I picked up two more Village Raids at the LEGO store and I won a King's Castle at Brickfete. Now it's a matter of acquiring the baseplates I need to continue building.

Awesome build! It's awesome seeing those orange bricks being used so effectively. The fact that the car is immediately recognizable as a Gallardo is amazing. The fact that you've managed to squeeze so much functionality into such a small design is downright mind-blowing!

I think so. It was on the second floor next to Si-MOCs.

I'm sad to say that it's been almost six years since I posted my last major MOC, Brickmoor on the Eurobricks forums. With that out of the way, I present to you my latest (and often delayed) MOC; Maccusswell (pronounced Maxwell) Castle. Maccusswell Castle is loosely based on Caerlaverock Castle in Scotland which was owned and lived in by the Maxwell family until Protestant factions destroyed her in 1640. She remains one of the most beautiful castle ruins in the world. My castle borrows her fascinating triangular exterior however the interior rooms do not correspond to the original floor plan. Maccusswell Castle is my largest MOC to date resting on a base that is 160x192 studs in dimension. The castle breaks into 7 modules (exluding landscape) allowing full access to the interior. There are over 20 interior rooms complete with their own furnishings. At times the build was frustrating but I am pleased with the results. More photos may be found on my Brickshelf (when moderated) or Flickr accounts.

It's always nice to see a castle with a proper interior. It really gives the structure a sense of purpose that you don't see in many MOCs. A number of small details in the landscaping also stand out such as the fish jumping or the prince and princess in the rowboat. The extensive use of trans-blue and trans-clear cheese slopes to make ripples in the water works particularly well. Great work! I hope we'll be seeing more MOCs like this in the future.

It's always nice to see a building with a proper interior. We castle folk seem to focus on exterior facades most of the time. This is definitely a solid second effort

Conveyor belts make everything cooler . Seriously, all of Si-mocs' work was amazing. The kids passing through on Saturday couldn't get enough of it.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

The female figures are really starting to feel recycled as the same hairpiece is used over and over again. When the new ponytail was introduced with the nurse it was amazing. Now that we've the tennis player, surfer, and the zookeeper I feel like this element is being overused. -
Awesome photos! I really wanted to grab some more shots from downstairs but I never managed to find the time to get down to the train display when it wasn't absolutely packed with people. There were so many amazing MOCs I wanted to photograph too. I appreciate that you managed to grab so many nice photos of the downstairs display.

It's nice to finally have a show in Canada. The Space display was absolutely amazing and really managed to take me back to my childhood. With the black curtains hanging behind the MOCs it reminded me of the LEGO World Space display from 1984. Talk about a nostalgia trip. The black backdrop also made taking clean photos of the various Space MOCs relatively easy. It's just too bad that the stage a bit too high making it hard to get a good view of some of the great MOCs. Really, there was quite a bit to see considering how small the venue was. Photos: More images here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/httpwwwflickrcomphotosgreybrick_blueandwhite/sets/72157627203949163/ I only wish I had more time to get more photos of some of the MOCs that were downstairs. All of the work was really quite fantastic. Brickfete really was quite the show. As somebody who hasn't been to an event like this before, I was truly impressed by the time and effort invested by the event's organizers.

Indeed. It didn't do many favours for my wallet though. Fortunately I recouped the damage by winning the King's Castle and the Quest against Time sets in Sunday's draw. The parts from the speed build were an added bonus. I've thrown up most of my photos from the weekend on flickr. It seemed like an appropriate time to open an account. Now I just need to sit down and do a proper photo shoot of my castle.

Well, Brickfete has officially arrived. Fortunately my MOCs made the trip to the big T.O. without too much damage in transit. It looks like it's going to be a good weekend.

Your trees look like they were inspired by some of Jojo's (Johannes Koehler) earlier castle work. The tree looks very similar to the tree at the front of Jojo's Falckenstein.

LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer
blueandwhite replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It's very expensive for a set that simply looks 'okay.' (in my opinion at least). It really lacks the visual impact of the Millennium Falcon, the Imperial Shuttle or even the now classic ISD. As far as I'm concerned, It just isn't that exciting for $500. -
Wonderful! This is easily the most impressive Star Wars MOC I've seen. You've really set a new standard with this one! The only question is; once you've built something like this, how do you go about topping it?

how much time do you spend on LEGO?
blueandwhite replied to happymark's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I wish I had more time to spend with my collection but things are busy for me this time of the year. Between grading papers and entering marks into the system for report cards, I really don't have a lot of time to invest with my bricks. Still, once July rolls around I plan on doing quite a bit of building. -
I don't really get all of the complaints about the Sherway location. Sure, for east-enders and down-town folks the location may be less than ideal, but I think some of you are forgetting that there is a fairly large population just west of Toronto. A good portion of the GTA (Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughn) can be found on the west side. That being said, I think that Fairview is an ideal location for a second store simply because it serves the east side of Toronto. It's not like many folks from Brampton or Mississauga will be making the trek across the 401 to Fairview. Personally I'm thrilled that a store opened at Sherway as it is actually a manageable drive for me. I'm also happy that some of you folks living in the east end will be able to share that joy when the Fairview store opens however the suggestion that Toronto's first LEGO Store should have opened at Fairview instead of Sherway seems like nothing more than sour grapes.

This is a great little castle that reminds me of some of DNL's earlier work. The spires on the large tower and the rock formation at the base of the castle are very impressive. I also like the overall shape of the structure. My only suggestion would be to photograph the castle without any minifigs. This castle is clearly much smaller than minifig scale. The addition of minigfigs at the base makes the structure look rather mismatched in scale. This castle looks like it would be better served with some microfigs instead.
