If it is yellow, I'm sure they've figured out a way to make it look awesome - let's just hope they've corrected the problem with yellow pieces : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30439 (I have some yellow pieces that look way too green)

Yes, but this is the first 8-wide fire truck I like them because I think the scale to minifigs is better, although I don't like some of the large pieces often used.
-
7213 looks awesome - I think that's the first official 8-Wide fire truck, at least that I can think of.

Please post your pictures when you're done - I'm also planning on doing this, and widening each garage to 10-wide so they'll fit 8-wide trucks.

What is Your Favorite Modular Building?
Johnnhiszippy3 replied to Legoliner Pilot's topic in LEGO Town
Initially I'd say the Green Grocer - I love the sand green color and all of the details (front, back, interior) and it really looks good when more levels are added. However, I think I have to vote for the Cafe Corner. It is the set that really brought me back to Lego and helped me realize I could build all sorts of new things. So I vote for it because 1. It was revolutionary and 2. I'll always feel sentimental about the Cafe Corner . -
Although this is disappointing to hear (I was really hoping to see a return of the Natives ), I'm glad that Lego is giving notice so that those who haven't bought what they want, still have a chance before the line is discontinued (something I've always wished they would do)

If you haven't noticed, the Fire Brigade is now available from S@H!!

What do you want to see in the next round of the new line?
Johnnhiszippy3 replied to martinsuper's topic in LEGO Pirates
Why does everyone want imperial ships and bases? This theme is called Pirates, not Imperials! haha -
Very nice You could also just change your fire station into something else - I think it'd look great as a bank if you changed the garage doors into windows. You could even switch out the red for a different color.

Welcome to Eurobricks Trancedout! I can also see a lot of similarities with the Disneyland fire station. This is off topic, but there is another building on Main Street in Disneyland that resembles a Lego set we all like:

I think this building looks great for an urban fire station! And I think it's great to have something in a different architectural style. I will need to modify the garage door though so it can fit an 8-wide truck. Lots of fire stations have antique engines on display in their ground-floor lobbies, so I think that's where the engine that comes with this set will be placed so that it fits with my modern layout. I can't wait to see the upper floor (and the next set in this series!!)

When I was a kid (when the original Metroliner came out) I wanted one-more than anything else. But it was too expensive. For the next 10 years I looked at it in my old catalogs and wished I had bought one. And whenever a new train came out I would compare it to the Metroliner, and decide it was't as good. So for 10 years, I didn't own a train - although I owned train stations and miscelaneous cars. Back then there was nothing like ebay, so I thought I would never get it. But then in 2001 they released this Legends set! I was so excited that on the same day I got the new catalog I placed an order for two of them! But unfortunately they're stored at my parent's house, along with all of my childhood Lego. (don't worry, I've accumulated lots of adulthood Lego now!) I think if I go home this summer I'll have to bring one of my Metroliners back with me.

have a laugh at Mega Blocks misfortunes...
Johnnhiszippy3 replied to mikey's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's what I said, they aren't trying to please stock holders (because they don't have any public stock holders - and Megabloks does, as do most of Lego's other competition) -

If MegaBloks went under I think Lego would still have plenty of competition to keep quality up and prices down. The article states that Lego already controls 73% of the market share in construction toys category. I don't think Lego's big competition is MegaBloks (except for preschoolers) - it's computers, video games, sports, eletronic toys...all the other things that "prepubescent boys" like. Besides, I think Lego is driven by more than profit - they have to make money, but they aren't trying to please millions of stock holders. -
Looks like the sawtooth shark/swordfish is just a normal shark after all. That's too bad. The mermaid is holding a clam shell though!

While at the Lego store today I got the Store calendar for June. On June 17th from 5 - 7:00 pm they're having a Darth Vader minifigure speed building event. The fastest builder will win a "limited-edition Darth Vader minifigure". The photo shows a minifigure with a "sparkle" to it. I'm guessing this is a Chrome Vader

I actually prefer not having so many baseplates. I like the fact that the Medieval Market, Soldier's Fort, and Shipwreck Hideout are on normal plates. I find these to be much more useful than baseplates because I can't attach anything to the bottom of baseplates. Sure the road plates are good for kids with carpet so they have somewhere to drive vehichles, but I prefer brick-built SNOT roads (which are too expsensive for most kids)

The Custom Car Garage had minfigures with printed torsos too. The only Factory sets without were the Space Skulls and Star Justice. Besides, the set I was refering to (8168 Ferrari Victory) is not a Factory set. I hope they are printed, but I'm going to make sure before I buy them!
-
Actually Set 8168 - Ferrari Victory had stickers for the front AND back of the minifig torsos.... http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildin...ons/4550160.pdf

It looks like it to me too.... Look at the picture of his back - you can see an edge all the way around. That would change my opinion of this new theme really quick.

As I recall, they expired in January of the following year. I got them around June, so they were good for quite awhile. I'd assume if you subscribe later in the year they give tickets that last longer. If you're going to subscribe and are planning on using the tickets, I'd call Lego to check.
-
My wife and I had been planning on going to Legoland California, and I wasn't sure if the tickets that came with Brickmaster were only for children. I called and found out they were good for adults too, so we got tickets to Legoland for $40 each (instead of $63 each ) and 6 free sets each, plus the magazines. So if you are already planning on going to Legoland, it's a great deal! My wife, who ins't a huge fan of Lego (like me) really enjoys the Brickmaster magazines. I'm hoping I can convince her we should go back to Legoland this summer to keep the sets coming

Ideas for TLG going more "green"
Johnnhiszippy3 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Has anyone noticed how small the box for the Emeral Night is? And it isn't half-full. Same for the Medieval Market. Maybe Lego is attempting smaller boxes on some sets to see if they sell less. Or maybe only on sets marketed towards older "kids" I think the worst box-size-to-piece-ratio is on licensed sets. One that really comes to mind is the Star Wars Spider Droid. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who love their instruction booklets too much, but if Lego stopped printing instructions and instead offered them only online, this would save a lot of paper, printing, and shipping weight (not to mention some cost) - especially on sets with 3 booklets! -
The Santa Fe Cars I (10025) & II (10022) to go with the Santa Fe Super Chief. At the time I thought they were too plain looking...
