1. By the way, Congrats on your award on your pirate entry! EDIT Here is my glazier, which I posted yesterday in the Alpha Thread
2. Thank you! I read about glaziers before I made it, and found it really interesting to learn how they made those beautiful stained glass windows.
3. I'm going to try to post my pix of my new Glazier. Here is my Glazier. As you can see the glazier's daughter is selling some painted glassware and hoping to get some new commissions for windows. Too bad in medieval times the streets were so full of pigs and drunks! Here the master glazier is at work with his apprentice and several journeymen. The master glazier is the only one who can be trusted to draw the original cartoons. His newest apprentice is watching closely. Meanwhile, the journeymen carry on their duties. One has a red hot rod which will be used to cut the larger pieces of glass, another has the cartoon under the glass where he is cutting out the correct shapes with a grozing iron. There is a table of painted pieces. Finally, a journeyman is firing one of the painted pieces in the kiln. You can see some finished products in the corner. The master keeps a close eye on his daughter with all these journeymen around... Upstairs the master glazier's wife, is equally industrious and spends all of her spare time with a distaff and drop spindle making thread. Let's hope she's not allergic to flaxseed and that she doesn't pierce her finger, otherwise she could end up paralyzed in a coma for...oh...a hundred years... Note that the second floor front and front of the roof are attached to the downstairs and that the upstairs is easily lifted off. A view with just the back wall off...note the shelf design over the bed with the pieces of colored glass for decoration. The glazier's daughter is closing up for the night. Closed up for the night. The lower shelf is a shutter that folds up, and the awning is a top shutter that folds down, as was typical in medieval times. There is a curfew on the street, but the pig doesn't seem to know. Here are the people with their tools. Hope you like it!
4. Great job on the fountain!
5. Thanks Sandy - I just couldn't resist using the guy with the stubble I must say that I love your princess chamber and library and I was very sad to hear that you are going to have to take them apart since they look so great. I wish we could put everything together and see it. I especially liked your use of archways in the library and the crests on the wall. I think arches are architecturally the most beautiful part of any building. Have a very Merry Christmas!!! quote name='Sandy' date='Dec 20 2008, 04:42 AM' post='410646'] Lalande, I simply adore your moving theater! I've done my share of acting in the past, so your creation is close to my heart. You are correct that in the original Shakespearean theater, all actors were men (although the younger "pretty boys" played the female roles, rather than brutes with stubble beard like in your creation ). I also like that you portrayed the Nativity in the play, since it's Christmas and all! Splendid work!
6. Hi everybody! As a special Christmas treat for everyone I've done the Mystery Play depicting the Chirstmas story! More pictures can be found in the Alpha Thread Here's my thumbnail code ISC:
7. Hi everybody! I finished my Mystery Play just in time for Christmas! The chandler and goldsmiths guilds have put together the nativity for the mystery cycle. The guy playing the angel does a good job of blocking the stage man who is dangling the star. Look closely at Mary and you will see that a man is playing the part...as was typical in those days. The three kings have crowns like kings would have in the middle ages since the people in those days had no concept of period costumes. The 3 kings have brought gifts, which allows the goldsmith guild to show off their crafts, while retelling the birth of Jesus. Here is a look behind the scenes, where you can see the man on the upper floor dangling the star, another man looking down at the play to make sure everything is going right, and then there is Mak the shepard who is waiting for his part in which he will steal a sheep and take it home and dress it up in a cradle like a baby gir, thereby stealing the show and making the crowd laugh...but wait how is this part of the nativity???? You can see that the stage is on a pageant wagon so it can be pulled throughout the town. Actors can change behind the curtains under the stage. Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone! 8. Thanks Dragonator! Lots of good ones are coming in ...and it's really fun to see what they are. Go Alpha team!
9. Hi Dragonator, I am just getting used to using this site and I figured out that you are the guy that did that amazing Manor House! That is truly a fantastic creation. So, I'm glad you are the leader of the group that I'm in! What are you making for the castle? When will we get to see it? I'm going to do the Medieval Christmas Play next, is that ok?
10. Thanks Erdbeereis, I really like your fountain! My father who is in his eighties will be visiting at Christmas, so maybe he will give it a try, lol, then we'll have a lego grandad...thrash is pretty generous about letting us use his collection of legos with which to build! Thanks I Scream Clone. I have no idea what a light grey cheese slope is, but next time Thrash comes home I'll ask him to show me one, as I'm sure he probably has some, so then I can try it. Thanks for the suggestions, it's fun learning more about this. I also see what you mean about the walls not being pushed together completely in some places- I'll take care of that right away (those earthquakes can be rough)! Thanks for your help. This Community Castle Build was a great idea!
11. I finished my Tapestry Weaver, head on over to the Alpha thread to see more pictures. There's even a little story to follow! Thumbnail Code (courtesy of my son Thrash)
12. Hi everybody, I finished my tapestry weaver, hope you like it! This picture shows the thatched roof. Here is the suitor (blue dyer) bringing the skeens of blue yarn to the weaver's wife. The weaver and his wife want their daughter to marry the blue dyer. The daughter hates him (partially because he smells so bad from the blue dye business), but look at him, doesn't look too pleasant does he? The weaver's wife is bringing in the blue skeen. The weaver is busy weaving the tapestry. I used a picture of a real medieval loom for the idea of the large loom. The weaver's family lives upstairs, they have one of their tapestries on the wall and are simmering the stew for dinner. The bedspread is woven to look like a tree, which matches the wall tapestry. Ha, ha, now that the blue dyer has left, and her parents are busy, the weaver's daughter greets her true love. There is a trap door that leads to the castle wall. Her soldier love leaves his weapons on the cat walk, and brings her flowers...see how happy she looks now! The weaver's wife, the weaver, the smelly blue dyer, the weaver's daughter and her soldier lover. Notice her parents make her wear blue to try and impress the blue dyer... Thanks for looking! 13. Thank you!
14. I love your oil smelter, I Scream Clone...especially the guy at the top who is going to send the oil raining down on the heads of anyone who attacks below!
15. Thanks so much for welcoming me to the group. I applied for lady status as recommended. I've been building with legos forever it seems...my son has a huge collection. This is such a great idea that I Scream Clone came up with, and when I saw what Thrash and his roommate were building, I asked them if I could try too, so Thrash showed me how to sign up. Thanks so much for including me in the group! I can't wait to see what everybody comes up with, and hopefully the whole thing can be built together and photographed at some point!
16. Thanks Erdbeereis1, I had fun researching falconers in the middle ages before making it. I love the croissant as a sign on your bakery!!!! Very creative.
17. I'd like to join the build! For my first MOC, I've done a Falconer. I put pictures of it up in the Alpha thread (I guess that's the team I'll be on). Enjoy!
18. I decided to join the Alpha thread to show off my falconer's home and mews! Overview: This is the falconer's mews. There are perches on either side with sand underneath (for the bird excrement...). The falconer is feeding the falcon from a lure (birds wings attached to fresh meat on a string). On the shelves are, (starting at the top) a jess with bells, a falcon's hood and below are leather gauntlets. The falconer's mews again. The dog, who has been with the falcons since puppyhood, is patiently waiting for a share of the food. Note the jess with bells on one of the falcon's legs. The cadger is on his way out the door. This is a close up of the old man holding a cadge, a frame on which the falcons are carried. This is the origin of the word "codger". The falconer lives above the mews. Here is his wife taking care of their baby. They are aristocrats and their numerous colorful clothes hang from pegs around the walls. There is a cage under the eaves with a mouse in it (to feed the birds). The falconer's son will someday take his father's place as falconer. He sleeps in the attic (note the trap door). from left to right, the cadger, the falconer with his falconers bag and a lure, the falconer's wife with their baby and the falconer's son
19. Hi everybody, I'm Thrash's Mom, I joined because of the community castle build. I saw some of what was being built and thought it was so cool that I wanted to try it too. Luckily, Thrash said he didn't mind if I tried! I'm posting my falconer's mews and home today - hope you like it...
