  1. Yeah, but as a constraction mocist, if you threw a disassembled ninjago mech in my bucket of parts you've just put stuff in that I'll have to pick out later, with the exception of a few small parts like mixel joints or fingers. Overall, brick built mechs just aren't constraction. I'm not even sure they have the same range of motion as a normal constraction figure
  2. They're not constraction. unless you mean something about how they evolved, I wouldn't know, I've never liked Ninjago and have no interest in seeing what its about
  3. Oh yeah, those, its sad how lego was able to understand quite early that these wouldn't sell well, but they had better recolours than the star wars version of the line
  4. We kind of had that, back when Bionicle was a Technic subsidiary, the Technic logo was sort of our version of the "Classic" label. That's evolution for you, here's a hastily thrown together timeline of the building systems that lead to that
  5. I'll concede on the one you posted looking better in many aspects, but I'm really not a fan of the articulation it has. I don't wanna be too critical, that is someone's moc after all agreed, it just seems unlikely we'd get that, but in a more ideal world I'd also be asking for that 2015 just had...something to it man. It was doing Bionicle easy, and 2016 tried way too hard and ended up failing
  6. There is no chance, and I mean absolutely no chance that it will depict anything from the reboot. If we were to get something, it would likely be something representing the Toa Mata (Tahu specifically) or the GSR (which we never got a set of, and it's one of the few things in Bionicle that looks good when made out of system) And regardless of whether it sells or not (hardcore afols would never buy it anyway), if its a mosaic or a bust then I just won't get it. I don't think Lego is gonna touch Bionicle in the future, and if this is our last set and it sucks, then oh well, it won't hurt to not buy it because we're not getting anything in the future after this anyway, but if its a set of system built Toa Mata with articulation similar to the comic book mechs? I'd buy them instantly Horrible, aren't they? I appreciate the return of Purple, and Umarak looks gorgeous, but it feels like competent set designers built the core figures with a healthy blend of Technic and CCBS, and then they gave an intern who's only ever worked on ninjago the loudest, most annoying parts and ordered him to finish it up. Its just so over the top If you guys want opinions on Bionicle from someone far less jaded and bitter, then I highly suggest this recent video by RolloutReviews
  7. as Lyichir just said: Which I (and pretty much all of my friends) loved, we were big fans of Hero Factory's building system, and loved the system that G2 used, although in 2016 Bionicle took an aesthetic nosedive with all the metallic colours. kind of amazing how they were spot on in 2015 and missed the mark almost completely the following year.
  8. Ah, Aanchir actually posted some mocs that sound almost exactly like what you're talking about: If they were close to these, I'd totally be in favour of them
  9. Hero Factory, Bionicle G2, and SWC all used the same building system (ccbs), so naw, the parts were good, its just that Bionicle (when done right) is usually very colourful, which the Star Wars Constraction sets never were. But hey, they reintroduced Brown into out colour pallets, so that's good Ehhhh, Knights Kingdom was...well, the armour additions were great, everything else was kind of useless from my perspective, I'd be surprised if anyone was into the figures for anything other than the swords, shinguards and shoulderpads,
  10. that sounds more enticing than any of the other things you've listed. It would have been better if we actually got that back when anyone cared about G2, but ever since that was killed most fans have migrated back to G1, G2 just didn't have any staying power due to the lack of lore and poor marketing Lego doesn't make any constraction figs anymore, and the SW sets were...very much not an ideal replacement for Bionicle Like I've said before, I just want Lego to officially announce whether Constraction is dead or not. Its the only thing keeping people like myself around the lego community, and I'd very much like to finally know if I'm wasting my time waiting
  11. Ah, I guess that could work, as long as the sets themselves have knees, or the amount of articulations thats common with Bionicle sets.
  12. I was gonna say that I had serious doubts about that, but than I noticed "casual afols", so perhaps that would work. I'm pretty sure if Bionicle were to hypothetically become a system line and be put forth as the main action theme, many hardcore afols would avoid it for the name alone, just look at how badly the system Bionicle sets sold back in 05-07 don't, I can't speak for everyone but I'd honestly hate to see Bionicle reduced to minifigs riding in mechs
  13. That may be very true, but a lot of fans just want something, Bionicle isn't exactly Chima or Space, there are not any current alternatives in production for the fanbase (the mocist side at least) to turn to right now, so they're desperate for anything. Personally, all I want is for Lego to just tell us whether Constraction is dead or not so that I can finally move on from lego as a whole
  14. Yeah, you're spot on, Slizers/Throwbots, Roboriders, Bionicle, Galidor, Hero Factory, and the ccbs marvel, Chima and star wars sets are all Constraction. Others may include Knights Kingdom, Mixels, and Exo Force, but the line begins to blur at that point
  15. Assuming that Bionicle wins, It will most likely be system anyway, but what if it isn't? Many people including myself moc exclusively in the style of G1/ccbs constraction, and our parts are dwindling daily due to age. There will always be another system set, but there is only one chance for us to have a constraction set.
  16. Could'a sworn he wanted to take it off of them, regardless its disappointing that they won't pass it to someone else then. I know many afols wouldn't complain if it were officially bumped out of lego's catalogue. And I'm not expecting much out of Biovival, but it seems like more of a reality than us getting G3, or another constraction theme
  17. Doubt it, we got a relaunch that wasn't advertised anywhere and many fans didn't even know that it happened, Lego killed the IP and I'm pretty sure its just gonna be indefinitely shelved after this. Christian Faber wants to buy it, and I'm fully in support of that notion, just get it it out the hands of lego if they aren't gonna do anything with it. Makes me wonder why they didn't just have fans of the series handle G2, hmmm Theres also that. I'm not too big a fan of human protags in scifi/fantasy (which is probably why I paid a bit of attention to Chima, among other things), But Bionicle has a very DnD feel to it when you start taking into account the different races and their fantasy analogues (Matoran = Humans/Halflings, Skakdi = Orcs withs guns, Vortixx = aesthetically Drow, closer to above ground Dwarves) Its honestly a shame that people never made many OCs of the latter two
  18. Might just be its short run length that disqualifies it. Though if it were allowed into the poll, the Bionicle vote would be significantly splintered
  19. Hey, like I said, I like articulated figures. I just don't like mechs (Exo Force is a strong exception) or minifigs, plus, these were made by an actual Bionicle fan, and it sounds odd but Bionicle fans just "Get it" As for folks who will buy it? well there's a whole website full of less jaded Bionicle fans than me (TTV) that want a system reboot of Bionicle in the style of ninjago, the very idea turns my stomach, but if it were a fusion of system and articulated figures/constraction like this, I'd actually buy it
  20. Thats still a bit too small of a scale for what I'd want (I prefer figures to have fingers, articulated waists, and open socket elbows for better articulation), but I must admit, I'd definitely buy that lineup of figures if we got something of similar quality, it isn't a minifigure and its not a mech, so this scratches a good itch
  21. Naw, unlike some people you're not getting angry at "frickin bionicle fans", so its all good But yeah, Thats just my 2 cents on Bionicle as a working theme, many fans of it are (rightly so) anxious about the fact that it may never, and I mean NEVER return. in any way, shape, or form, as far as quite a few people are concerned, this is the very last chance to ever see Bionicle ever again. Lego will absolutely do another Space line in the future, They will absolutely do anther Castle line, They will absolutely do anther Pirate line, but they ended constraction after an 18 year run, so many Bionicle fans just can't afford that same sense of security Whether it wins or not, I sincerely hope lego considers just selling the IP
  22. It moreso had to do with the lack of marketing, lack of a story plan before it launched (G1's story bible was written all the way back in 99, G2 never had one, and only got a real plot months after its launch), Absurd prices (G1 Tahu was about 6 dollars back in 01, G2 Tau was 20 bucks) and just the fact that Lego doesn't really get how to do something like Bionicle anymore. Its obvious to a fan that if they returned it to being a technic subsidiary with small, cheap sets, an elaborate story, and a focus on making original characters (coughmaskpackscough) they'd likely be able to recapture a new audience. Instead we got (what some people view as an intentional) fumble that possibly ended constraction and left many of its fans high and dry and waiting to vote for any chance at getting something like it again. Just take Bionicle off the poll and give us a Hero Factory relaunch, and we'd probably be fine.
  23. Oh, oof, my apologies then, I came in here on the defensive and didn't think people would be sarcastic about that, my bad as for the sexybionicle usernames? Yeah, I know exactly who those folks might be, what part of the community they're in, and what they're favourite shoulderpad piece is
  24. Less an urge to see them disappointed and more to see how they don't understand why Bionicle is winning. Ideally the top 3 would all get a set, even better would be if all 30 entries got a set, but since they're can only be one winner, people will be at eachother's throats, I'm just documenting the behaviour that I've grown accustomed to seeing from the vast majority of afols when Bionicle is given attention
  25. There isn't much to giggle about since there hasn't been anything for us to buy in the last 4 years, I'm just hear to see if folks are predictably mad that Bionicle beat out one of their fave themes Ya know...I wouldn't even be against that actually. Yeah, sure, hand me proto-chima instead of anything else actually, since I am here, I'm curious, One of the old story writers for Bionicle wants to buy the IP, would you AFOLs be in favour of Lego selling it? Just imagine, we'd never have to talk to one another again
