  1. Despite the complex rules, it's extremely fun to play if you can find anybody else to do so with you. I don't think it would sell for much, though, I checked eBay about a year ago when I planned to sell my own and I'm pretty sure it's just worth ~$15 USD. I say hold onto it and see if the price rises because of nostalgic fans or sell it if you don't value it all that much. ~cap'n
  2. Looking at "Bitil" there seem to be Skrall swords strapped to the shoulders O: Interesting new choice of theme colors too. I wonder if it will remain an "elemental" line like Roboriders/Slizers/Throwbots/Bionicle? At the moment, it looks like white, yellow/lime, red/orange, gray, blue, and black... and is it just me or do the canisters have COLORED TRIDAX HEARTS? <3 Well idk because the images are so small =P ~cap'n
  3. Even though the comic was predictable and the story was lame overall (I mean, a trapdoor in his foot that a bunch of Rahkshi and Takanuva just happen to pop out of? Come on :\) I think the Mata Nui confronting Makuta was pretty gratifying... in all honesty, this isn't a bit unlike what I imagined Mata Nui beside his evil brother would look like all the way at the beginning :3 ~cap'n
  4. Krahka is definitely first place here. She's just amazing. I'm also a big fan of Nidhiki and Lariska, and Pohatu is pretty cool. And, of course, I feel obliged to mention Kopaka. ~cap'n
  5. That's true, although I think the cause might be because he's being badgered by fans by trivial things--I'm not sure how long that's been going on though but a recent trip to the OGD on BZP revealed a huge thing with questions on Tarduk and Golden Armor and such that would easily irritate anyone =P Although it also seems pretty obvious he's still interested from the recent quotes I've seen. ~cap'n
  6. As for generic personalities, I thought the Mata were the most so. Honestly, they were all cookie-cutter archetypes and you can describe them all in one word: Tahu: Brave. Gali: Calm. Onua: Wise. Kopaka: Cold. Lewa: Hyper. Pohatu: Friendly. Not saying they weren't developed at all, but they all seemed like extremes of various character types--then again, it was fitting for the introduction of BIONICLE, where the island of Mata Nui was obviously composed of a jungle, ice place, volcano, desert, dark mines, and water village. I really think that, although they have seemed to be far more watered down over the years, some lines of characters were indeed well-developed, far more so than the first Toa. What I'm saying is that BIONICLE has always been generic in terms of story in some way or another. The complication of the story 2003-on was really what got me into the line. 2001 was fun and all with the jungles and volcanoes and biomechanical warriors but I really can't see from an '01ist standpoint. The 2001 story seemed to be the most childish of them all, and didn't even have too much of a sense of mystery. I mean, sure, Mata Nui and Makuta were sorta mysterious in terms of their pasts, but they were predictable at best--a benevolent god and his evil brother in a power struggle, evil brother gets revenge, six warriors fight dark monsters. I hardly saw any questions posed in 2001, which does not make it a mystery. Mysterious, perhaps, but no mysteries started to pop up until 2003 (i.e. origins of the Turaga, the Avohkii, what lies beyond the island of MN, etc.) And that's about all I have to say on the subject. Hope it makes sense, I don't have time to proofread and I'm dead tired as it is.
  7. I thought the rap part was cool :P Anyway, descriptions for the Stars are nice but nothing new really, sans some foreshadowing. Takanuva fighting an army, Tahu looking for gold armor... sounds interesting. I sincerely hope this year doesn't end in some deus ex machina, i.e. RAWR GOLDEN ARMOR ATTACK. Also, I'd love to see more on the plague tribe but I have a feeling that they were just thrown in there. Anyone else getting the feeling lately that Greg is responding with stuff like "I'll leave that up to fanfiction" and "because the set designers wanted it" waaaay more often than usual lately? I hope this doesn't mean he's losing interest when the sets are ending >_> ~cap'n
  8. But then is it really a "BIONICLE" set? I mean, that would be cool and all but I don't think it would represent the line at all. I'd even prefer some vehicle and pilot (Takanuva and Ussanui, perhaps) over just some system set. Unless, of course, the Great Spirit set had some Technic elements in it. Otherwise I just don't think it would feel BIONICLE at all. If you get what I mean. Also, good luck to LEGO getting a name cooler than "Bionicle" for whatever the new line is going to be =P ~cap'n
  9. [/obligatory smash mouth reference] I posted this on BZP but I figured I'd put it up on EB too just for lolz. I totally bs'd the color at the last minute, but I think it turned out okish. v- click -v I might do one with Gresh, Skrall, and Nektann later on but I didn't like those three so much. Something like Lewa, Kiina, and Whenua would have been so much cooler ;^;
  10. Yeah no Lhikan please Greg :S One of the two dramatic deaths in Bionicle would be totally downgraded if that happened, unless it was some alternate Lhikan or Lhikan from the past in a *super secret special future mission*. =P White Teridax wouldn't be very high as a choice in my book, but I'd at least like to see him not be wasted, so having him as a protagonist wouldn't be so bad. And Keetongu would be pure awesome <3 Pohatu or Kopaka is a must too. But I will be really ticked if Axonn, Brutaka, or Vezon get a place in supposed A-team serial. They were interesting characters ruined by too much screentime :< Also November 10, 2009: click click click hisssssssss click click ~cap'n
  11. Totally awesome, man. What the arms and legs lack are made up for in the torso. Sweet design here, really reminds me of the big robot Mata Nui =P My main problem here is with the inconsistency between grays and silvers--I'm typically all for variations of the same colors, but old gray + new gray doesn't look so great in my opinion. ~cap'n
  12. Well technically speaking the errors could occur pretty easily because of the Latin roots that are used widely in sci-fi and fantasy. I'm surprised there's no "Malum" or "Gelu" in both, as well :P I'm not sure about Agori, but I know that Vorox is a slight variation on the Latin word for hunger or gluttony, and it sounds like an alien race name anyways. "Agori" could mean villager or something but I'm too lazy to look it up atm. As for the Cordak Blasters, they're pretty much giant revolvers. I've seen plenty of similar things in sci-fi, especially video games. ~cap'n
  13. I thought about that, but since he seems to be one of the three "bad guys" this year I see it more likely that the most simplistic of the serials would be in the perspective of a protagonist like Tahu or Gresh. Nektann would probably be a good candidate if it were a full-fledged serial like the Gali Nuva Blog or Mutran Chronicles but if it's something more along the lines of Takanuva's Blog, just little blurbs on the homepage, I think a "good guy" would be far more likely. But then again, who really knows what the hell will happen? A blog written by a Rahkshi could be pretty epic :P ~cap'n
  14. Eh, I can see Tahu writing a blog, and possibly even Nektann to an extent. If Mutran and Gali did, then other villains or Toa Nuva might be possibilities. But if it's a 2010 winter set, yeah, I'm thinking it'll be Gresh. ~cap'n
  15. There can always be the "OMG NOW THERE'S AN EVEN MORE POWERFUL MATERIAL" explanation involved =P Bleach managed to pull that off for what, five extra seasons? ~cap'n
  16. Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is a UCS? Ultimate Collector Set? If that's the case, I don't know about the System thing. I'd like to see a set reminiscent of the 2001-2003 titans, with elements from the vehicles thrown in. I don't think a greater System ratio captures the Bionicle feel well enough =\ Some crazy (but proportional) biomechanical Baterra or Mata Nui or some kinda Kaita would be amazing <3 ~cap'n
  17. It's not powerful. It's *FABULOUS*! They're going to make Teridax drop dead with fashion! ~cap'n
  18. Well I really hope that RoS manages to tie up nicely. We still don't know what's the deal with -Shadow Takanuva -Alternate Teridax and Mazeka -Antidermis Brutaka -Painting Miserix (or invisible Miserix? I still don't get it) -The Hagah (was curing them from delerium JUST fanservice? I'd hate to see them wasted after having a random appearance) -Axonn (wants revenge?) Gah if these aren't tied up I'm going to be angy. That's like three wasted serials (Destiny War, Brothers in Arms, wherever Shadow Taka is from) And I'm pretty sure Vezon and Tran Krom's stories are going to be tied up. Pity, I'm really starting to dislike how overused those two are, as well as Brutaka. Feels like we're being forced to like them. I agree with Gunnar here, too. If anything, a non-Ben 10 replacement that's somehow involved in the Bionicle story would be nice. I might even like a similar line that doesn't involve the old one; the story seems to be getting awfully convoluted right now. Something like that would probably please most MOCists and many storyline fans (but definitely not all, you can't please EVERY story fan =P). I think if Bionicle does end, the best turn of events would be a line that uses Bionicle/technic elements but has a whole new mythos. I.e. pretty much the same line but a different story. ~cap'n
  19. Maybe everyone will shout "Unity!" and Tahu will go all Super Sonic and save the day. Nothing like a deus ex machina to end Bionicle with a bang. ~cap'n
  20. Ah, I see. I was wondering where that info came from, considering Wikipedia isn't usually the first place information comes from :\ ~cap'n
  21. @3D, thanks. I'm not sure about the eyes, but I've still got the PSD so I'll mess around with the layering a bit. And it's for my BZP epic series "Early Sunsets"; this is the teaser for book 3. @bfa: Yes, it's backwards xD I didn't have a mirror or model or anything at the time and damn I'm just awful at hands =P
  22. Wasn't Wikipedia the first place to mention the Stars? :P ~cap'n
  23. http://www.majhost.com/gallery/kopaka13/Bi...rakalloween.jpg and http://www.majhost.com/gallery/kopaka13/Bi...awnsteaser2.png and http://www.majhost.com/gallery/kopaka13/Bi...ital/page_0.jpg yays
  24. Well Vezok not being the Piraka Star solves some stuff. All the others (except Tahu Mata, of course) seem like fair modifications for the Stars: -Takanuva can change his color at will. He might have just gotten tired of gold. -Gresh looks pretty much the same. Minor change of colors is most likely just a set thing. -It was never revealed that Skrall were all red, if I remember correctly. Couldn't the Skrall Star just be a green one? -There are Rahkshi of all colors, as was previously established. So I see the three most logical explanations for Tahu becoming Mata again as: -The ever-so-popular deus-ex-machina called Adaptive Armor (who says the story team would hesitate in saying his likeness to Tahu Mata was just a coincidence? :P) -Energized Protodermis; seems natural that what gave the powers can take them away just as easily -MoLi; it can devolve stuff Then again, it could be something totally new, or random. With Bionicle, you never know. ~cap'n
