Hehe I just figured you were giving him a nickname. I kinda like it. "Split."

That's a good point you bring up, Jetrax99. I didn't even think of it that way but personally I'd prefer to see organic characters more scattered. The whole line has a very organic feel and that includes the heroes, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. For the theme which is very thematically organic-feeling (parasites/brains or whatever) it fits, but I just don't want this direction to be followed for all future sets. Not to say it will of course but LAFs tend to follow their own trends for a while. But yeah in a universe very populated with robots, bio-mechs, and organic aliens, it only makes sense that there's the occasional organic-looking villain and might I add that Split and Reapa pulled off that look VERY well. Not sure if Thornraxx was supposed to be organic too but kudos to his designers anyway for designing him in a style that fit his line but still looked very much like a real insect.

I'm really excited for this next line. Even though they look sorta Bionicley, and the names are very Bionicle as well (as opposed to the hilariously campy Xplode, Splitface, Raw-Jaw, etc.) I'm very impressed by the theme. When I heard the rumors for Rampant Oceans and the ice one I was hoping they weren't true because something I disliked about earlier Hero Factory and some years of Bionicle was themed lines (Bionicle had insect, water, desert, sky, and swamp, and HF had fire and jungle). This line looks like a weird cross between Knight's Kingdom and Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I hope the line doesn't go for this organic feel in any more lines because I can't say I like it all that much compared to Savage Planet, Breakout, etc. but the almost gross-looking parasitic theme reminds me of an aspect of silver-age comic books not touched by Hero Factory: horror pulp fiction. Very Creepshow lookin'. I'm particularly looking forward to Bruizer, Furno, Breez, and the brown pieces on Ogrum.

I dunno, the dialogue seemed pretty okay, even though there was a lot more silly product placement than usual. The art is awesome as usual though.

...YES. Black Phantom is GLORIOUS.

Thanks <3 Seeing this promo makes changes my feelings for the superheroes. They actually look pretty sweet. I just wish Hulk had green shoulders and I'd really like him :\

Any photos that haven't been removed yet? I want to see Joker and Captain America but can't find them anywhere.
-
So I haven't noticed anyone mention this yet, but is anybody else loving the Heroes' chest details, like Furno's flames and Surge's lightning bolts? I think it's a sweet touch to the torso design, setting them all apart from each other a little bit. Also, just wishful thinking but if the next wave is the four remaining heroes plus a new one, I'm hoping for any shade of purple. Because that would be sweet.

My guess would be Stormer is off on a different mission with Nex, Stringer, Bulk, and a new hero, but my guess is as good as any other. I think your idea is pretty reasonable but something like Stormer dying is very unlikely. It could just be the designers chose to leave him out of one team and he'll be back in the next mission. That would at least be the easiest way to go.

Bfa, you accomplished in one sentence what would have taken me an angry and dramatic tirade. <3

...I just noticed something >new torso includes rugged manly 6-pack >Breez has new torso Usually I don't care about female characters looking boxy because there's no point in adding feminine characteristics to the female in a group of androgynous robots, but when the body mimics the male human body... this might be sorta weird. A female character with a shirtless male body. O.o

I liked the knights *gets another encyclopedia thrown at* Like Tanma said, they're sorta like really big minifigures. So, like, Macrofigures. :P

2012 thread time? O: I was shocked to see these all of a sudden. Just like every other leak I guess >3< But seeing the classic helmets was the biggest surprise since Bionicle Stars.

Of course, a lot of obscure sets like those Aanchir mentioned would get first place for worst design in my opinion. But in terms of poor design in the main waves of Bionicle/Hero Factory my least favorites are tied between the fire villains of 2011 and the Mistika of 2008, even though both of them had some redeeming factors. I just generally disliked the lankiness of the figures in both of these lines, not to mention the weird heads of the fire villains.

...Oh my god. Oh... my... *immediately loves both Raw-Jaw's back and Bioniclover forever*

Picked up a Raw-Jaw yesterday, first of my 2011 sets. I must say, this new building system is really good. The figure itself is excellent - no part except the sides are unarmored or exposed, and that doesn't even really seem to matter with how well-built he is. There are some obvious stylistic errors like the strange silver back piece and the big gap on the side, but overall I found Raw-Jaw to be a better set than most of the Bionicle ones I own. Can't say it's better than any Bionicle set because I stuck to mostly canister stuff but it's for sure one of the coolest sets I own. Hell, I want to play around with the new system but can't bring myself to take it apart! So yeah, overall it's pretty great. I have yet to get any other boxed villain but I'd highly recommend Raw-Jaw.

I love that head. The wing-type quatro spikes or whatever those things are called are a nice addition too, but the use of that spike as a head is really clever. To be honest I like this guy's design more than I like Scorpio. A nice partner to Raw-Jaw.

Crackerjack > Take a generous swig of cola, become hyper. Despite what the Doctor has to say about the health risks of drinking such a large quantity at once, you take a generous swig of the cherry-flavored cola. Something is happening... You have become COLONEL CRACKERJACK. If your caffeine level weren't so high, you would probably be feeling very cantankerous right about now. Instead, you flail around like a bunch of idiots. In the eloquent words of internet legend Hella Nex, "I warned you about carbonated beverages, bro!!" -
My opinions on these are extremely mixed. They seem like a good source of parts, but on the other hand the organic-looking faces really don't mix at all with the Hero Factory-style bodies. I wouldn't venture so far as to say they look like Mega Blocks but the use of mechanical parts with normal heads is sorta silly, imo. I actually liked the Ben 10 sets a little better than these >o<;; Even Iron Man, who's a robot, looks sorta funny with a Lego body.

Gumball > Bring him Cola, the captain doesn't need to get drunk. Deciding that maybe an alcoholic beverage isn't the best idea while the captain is in such a silly state, you grab the Chronic Cherry ColaTM and bring it back up to the deck of the curiously structured boat/laboratory. The captain is perhaps a bit too appreciative, giving you one of his famous pirate head pats with a little too much gusto for your liking. -
I really love the legs you have here <3 Overall a pretty solid build, looks like a Mecha and not like a Lego action figure. Although the mask coulda fooled me into thinking he was a Matoran-Nui o: And by the way, nice use of the Piraka heads. I love seeing them utilized in creative ways.

Call me crazy but I thought Witch Doctor's villain laugh was pretty badass. AHAHAHAHAHAHA-HAHAHAHA! Classic evil right there. I really like this villain. Maybe not as scary as Fire Lord was capable of being or as supervillainish as Nebula was, but he's got his own sort of charm. Once again, the villains are my favorite characters in this wave.

Gumball > Go get him some rum. You wonder why the Captain always makes you get stuff from under the deck for him rather than choosing one of his other able-bodied crew members, but then decide not to make much of it. Years of medical service have worn the rough edges of this crippled doc softer. You descend to the EQUIPCABIN, and check out Cap'n Crackerjack's EQUIPSTASH, which has been elegantly scrawled over with the Captain's DESTINY SHARPIE. Unsurprisingly, there is no rum. But the shelf refrigerates the CHRONIC CHERRY COLA and the GRATUITOUS GRAPE GROG quite well. Perhaps the Captain would like a swig of one of these as he does all his captainy things up there. -
I'm too distracted drooling over the helmet to care what the rest of the set looks like. I'm getting this one for sure. Probably one of the coolest Hero Factory sets as of yet. Nice review, btw, and congrats on getting your hands on a third-wave set so early!
