Ah, RoboRiders. My interest comes years too late. Nice review. I didn't know about the fact that a code showed up if you cooled it down. It makes me wonder what the other canisters needed.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

Now I can let myself get excited about this. -
I think he made it. At least the inscription says he did.

It's already been stated that HF will go through 2011.

The word "damning" in this context isn't the same as "damn" itself. It's basically another, less formal-sounding word for "incriminating". It even made a cameo appearance in the Spongebob Squarepants Movie.

I think you're taking a coincidence and making a very contrived connection out of it. A good many LEGO pirates had black beards even back in ye olden days of the theme. … no, you're just reading waaay too deep into this. LEGO's advertising that their game has pirates in it. Like how they advertise that their game has wizards and ninjas and the like in it. It's a game that covers multiple LEGO themes, and the appearance of one group does not automatically mean that they'll be making more sets of that group. Also, again, is there any actual confirmation of this theme? All I've seen so far are those picture of one figure that may or may not be customized and a lot of discussion about which sets people want. -
I don't think "uses a couple of standard pieces alongside crazily specific molded launcher pieces" counts as "brickbuilt". The Nynrah especially, since it just uses two 3-length axles to attach a large custom pump piece to the large custom barrel piece. Heck, the Zamor launchers used more pre-made pieces than they did, and they were what made them fire. My favorites are the Tridax pods and Rhotuka. The Tridax were cool because they were dropped from the Makuta's chests and because they had the ugly cute Shadow Leeches. The Rhotuka get points for being fairly small and unobtrusive, and also for the satisfying WHIZZMMM the spinner makes when it launches.

Um…

Yes, for some reason they took down the game that lots of people were playing even thought it hadn't yet been officially released. I can't imagine why.

There will never be anything as good as the Bohrok saga in any way ever.

So yeah.

The arm armor, and pretty much the arms in general, seems to be more complicated than it needs to be. Instead of having the tri-axle holding the spike piece on a standard long double socket, why not just have it attach directly on to one of the new "sideways pinhole" long double socket? I always welcome more tri-axles, but it seems they're making the arms look unnecessarily hollow. Also, not sure I can forgive the use of that lower arm technique again, especially since the figure is the main point of the set and not an enormous vehicle. Also the dark red seems a bit odd but that could probably be fixed easily. But I do love that new helmet, Thornax recolor, and Krika legbladething recolor. :3

I imagine most of them are, since they all appear to be "in-universe" and mostly with other characters. Also, I like these depictions, especially of the way Stormer's helmet's "jaw" flips up, Surge's weapon, some of the silver accents, and how the hero cores are silver except for the area around the "H" which is the glowy color. Not sure how I feel about the utility belts yet (if that's what they are).

I like it. Kinda like the one(s) with the rock monsters back when Power Miners launched. Here are the two flash videos: http://cache.lego.com/upload/contentTemplating/PortalDictionary/otherfiles/1033/download00A4920D1BDFD6850FCDD223C8C1E971.swf http://cache.lego.com/upload/contentTemplating/PortalDictionary/otherfiles/1033/download56A1679F0D90268BB4FF6EC10DBBC893.swf

So… is there only a picture of the minifig so far? If so then I'm skeptical (but hopeful). (I just skimmed through the topic so I might have missed something.) -
Toss up between Breez and Thunder, though I'd use the phrase "least favorite", since "worst" brings to mind untamable raeg. Breez's helmet looks a bit too much like Zesk's/Vorox's for me to see it in a different light, but not similar enough to make the turn back to "omg soo cuute how is s/he not a hero :3" that Zesk pulls off. That and her weapons are a bit blah compared to the others'. Thunder for his strange armor and uneven silver distribution. His claw seems cool, though.

Making them relatable doesn't necessarily mean you have to give them "female characteristics", though. A voice/pronoun would probably be enough, since it removes the odd necessity of calling your savior "it" while also avoiding sexism lawsuits (and yes I'm talking in-universe lawsuits) but also keeps the hero construction process consistent and practical. I imagine there are custom "upgrades" she could get if she really felt the need to (or, I guess, wanted to, since these bots have programmed emotions [and if she's "that kind" of "girl" {excessive quotation marks ftw |by the way, what's the fourth level of parentheses? I've been wondering that|}]), but judging by the sets/descriptions so far, rookies need to earn their customization. And right now she's still a rookie. So yeah.

I think Rotor is a pretty cool guy, but Meltdown beats him in terms of sheer new/recolor part awesomeness levels.
-
Okay, now I know something in the Matrix is being changed. 80 Dollar already answered here.
-
I think he meant the Rookies, since in context he was responding to a complaint about Breez's build. Also, waaht. Why do "female" robots have to "look like females"? They're straight-up robots. There's even less of an excuse than there was in BIONICLE.
-
Maybe I missed something, but why would you think Thunder could roll into a ball?
-
Yeah, I doubt the webmaster(s) put in things like "There's a guy in my living room who's saying his name is Meltdown, he's gonna [blah blah blah]…"

Mark my words, Surge is the traitor.
