  1. Hi people, I'll be heading over to the US for a short trip so I'm hoping I can score a few sets to bring home. I'll be in New York and Washington D.C. for a couple of days each so I'm wondering where will I be able to find Lego sets. I've searched for Lego retail outlets and they are usually out of the city and only accessible by car. Are there any Lego shops in these two cities that are easily accessible via metro or bus? Any help much appreciated!
  2. omg. how on earth did you stuff so much equipment into the truck? have to be something of a pack rat to be able to do that. i think the design is very streamlined and clean-cut - functional for a fire engine.
  3. great pictures! i'm assuming the last pic shows the ticket/programme of some sort. anything exclusive for attending?
  4. nice. i'm sure there are tons more photos just waiting to be discovered. just search flickr!
  5. well, at least the fire station prediction was correct. as with many others. not too impressed with the design of the set. seems they knew that and included unique pieces to market the set rather than the design itself. not as innovative in terms of design like the rest of the modular buildings i think.
  6. hurray for the new battle packs! they've definitely been a long time coming!
  7. i voted for 2. and judging by comments here many did too! would be lovely if it won.
  8. i really love this MOC. it's amazing to have come up with something with so much more playability AND detail than the original.
  9. actually this reminds me of the "Disney copyright law". if the copyright law could be extended (supposedly because mickey mouse's copyright was about to expire), why can't similar things happen for lego? both are kind of crucial/central to each company.
  10. this totally represents what i think is the situation for Singapore (another small country) as well other tiny markets. only a sole Lego distributor that overcharges the consumers rather than TLG's actual presence in the market.
  11. i really like 6712 Sheriff's Showdown as it's small and affordable yet offers great playability with bandit, sheriff and a horse.

    Misprints

hm.. this is interesting. i may have to check on my clones from both batches to see if this is the case for mine. could it be that the 2009 (or late 2008) batches were rushed out so less quality checks?
  13. nice review. althought adding a cutlass would have made it a better set. how can a pirate not own one?
  14. hmm. too expensive for me. and the 7676 RAG will look tiny beside this new one. but a very interesting set indeed.
  15. ah. looks a lot better than the original one. the power of imagination and lego. this should be indexed!
  16. I'd like to extend that question to Singapore as well. Or how about "Is TLG going to sell these new magnets sets in all their markets?"
  17. true. outside the US prices are not very favourable to set up such a store. if you realise most sellers are US and most buyers are international. it just reflects the disparity in "official" retail prices.
  18. love how you used the head. lego should really think about redesigning grievous.
  19. yup, it's just the heads. it's made of a rubbery type of material that i find hard to describe. for kit fisto and perhaps the assassin droids pack i kind of understand why - these are pointy parts that may pose danger to kids who might stab themselves if the parts were otherwise plastic. not sure why plo koon's head is the same material though, it's not nearly as pointy. as for rubber bands, i have not gotten any extras in any of the sets i have, and i'm very certain they'll decompose/turn brittle and break one day. wondering how would i deal with that situation then.
  20. my bad. i haven't met him for some time. =)
  21. was just thinking about the material used in the figures of Kit Fisto and Plo Koon, as well as the conical shape part in the 8015 assassin droids set, and perhaps other sets that i'm unaware of presently. we all know about ABS plastics becoming brittle and yellowing over time, but how about this material? granted it probably hasn't been long enough to see any effects of time but i'm wondering how to preserve it. i'm sure such concerns would come up sooner or later. i've had other rubbery materials decompose (?) due to heat (?) or humidity (?) and it just becomes stick and gooey. what do you guys think about the use of this non-plastic material and storage concerns about it?
  22. why does dooku not have a curved lightsaber? http://www.foundation3d.com/gallery/data/5...ightsaber03.jpg
  23. well, there are no impulse packs for Star Wars so the battle packs are the smallest sets available. that's your explanation. =)
  24. love your review. like your style of writing and how you integrated other sets into a "play scheme". on the other hand would have appreciated more shots of the set itself, like special pieces, detailed views, etc. about the set, i do think it's a little pricey too. =)
  25. seconded! inventory/accessories photos should be always included! i wish they would have produced droid commandos instead of the assassin droids though. the former is part of the separatist army while the latter is privately owned.
