Maybe it is time to update a little bit my project. It has been nearly 11 months since I purchased the two-cars-huge lot of bricks from a collector, and still I'm inventoring that case. Last year went just sorting the bricks, this year I've been able to build sets. I haven't have as much time as needed (moving together with my girlfriend etc.), but at least I haven't been too stressed about these bricks. After Christmas (and after storing the whole lot into our sauna for a week) I understood that these newly-bought bricks can't be stored in our living room forever, so I managed to squeeze them in our hall's end and in my Lego room's first table (+ few other places). So all these parts haven't been collected into sets yet: At some point I realised that my shelves are totally not capable to store all my sets, so during the winter I purchased more and more shelves to add the space needed. Best purchase was the large Ikea-shelf on the long wall. Still, I'm running out of space the whole time, so next investment is going to be similar shelf to the other side of the room, replacing the smaller shelves there are now. In these photos there are my inventoried City, Train, Creator, Space, Fabuland and licensed sets. And this wall with Technic, Racers, Castle, Western and Adventures is going to have new, big, shiny Ikea-shelves. The Pirates-wall at the back is going to remain the same. Here you can find same photos in huge size: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=435634 I have huge, unrealistic ideas for the future and my BIG city project, so I'm beginning to be in a bit hurry with this thing. And after I have managed to build this big lot, I still have all my previous sets uninventoried, and also about 150 litres bricks from flea markets to sort... Last week there was a triple jubileum in my collection - "total"(*) of 400kg; both 100.000 bricks and 1000 minifigs inventoried. There's now over 650 sets on those shelves. (*)Total: My total collection without uninventoried sets from last summer's lot and sets with missing parts My collection in Brickset My collection in LUGNET

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Jvvv replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great to steal my hearpiece! No more errors after all 60 bags. At least 3 of every character - too many crash test guys, ninjas and divers, too few cheerleaders, robots and zombies... Well, maybe some shopping with barcodes later... Opening the whole box was a great experiment, I recommend it to everyone! Now waiting for the 2nd series... -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Jvvv replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hi, Just bought a whole box from Finnish hypermarket (Citymarket) and I'm gladly exploring it's contents at the moment. After 10 minifigs: Have you had any packing problems with your minifigs. I just opened a bag with the Caveman, but it had two legs parts but none of the hairpieces. Now he has another pair of legs on his head instead of a wig. Wondering what other surprises there is to come during the last 50 minifigs... -
It was a great contest, though I wouldn't have guessed Germany could do that well. Congratulatios to them, it's nice to finally visit Germany next year! Lena was so cute when she won, "I really think I can't take this (the Winner's Statue) the whole time..." Winning song is good, not my favourite, but easy to like. Luckily Turkey didn't won, it would have been pain to listen that song over and over again the next year round... Oslo was a wonderful city and the public transport was great. Prices were unbelievably high, as told beforehand. When flying home, normally so expensive "bear&bagel 7,50€" was really a good deal, in Oslo you couldn't get just the beer anywhere that cheap... Freddie: Dont' worry, I found few more Platenkompaniet's and a good used-record-store (Råkk & Råll), so I got rid off my money well, thanks. :D Almost all new LEGO sets (Kingdom, impulses, World Racers...) were at the stores, but the prices were so high (and my wallet so empty) that all I could afford was the Farmer-impulse.

Greetings from ESC press center! My personal favorites this year are Iceland, Belarus, Denmark and Romania. I'm right following the last dress rehearsals at Fornebu Arena on screen, let's see what will happen this evening. Freddie, any tips for record shopping in Oslo? I visited Platekompaniet at the very city centre, in a shopping centre near Central station.
-
Hi, I gladly noticed that there has been quite lively discussion about Eurovision Song Contest previous years. Are those responsible still present? I'm personally a big fan of the ESC institution and going to Oslo this month. I'm hoping for a good result for Finland and a wonderful country to win and to visit next year!

Can I buy tax free LEGO's when travelling back to EU from Norway? How much is Norwegian VAT?
-
Hi, What kind of market there is for LEGO in Norway? Is there a good selection, are the prices cheaper than in Europe? I'm visiting Oslo in the end of May and would love to get any suggestions or tips for shopping LEGO there.
-
8404 sounds really good for package to expand your city (transportation). If it isn't too expensive and doesn't contain too much "extra stuff" I'll defenetly buy two or more. What comes to 3221, I just purchased one from Finnish hypermarket. (19,90€, cheap?)

I love my Lego boxes. Recently I dug them out of the closet and set them on shelves, but now my inventory is taking so much space that I must pack those again to get 10 meters of shelf space. I save all the boxes and I'm willing to pay more if some used set has it's original box with it. What would be nicer than look closely a spectacular set and it's box after 10, 20, 30 years of purchasing it? Oh, those memories...

Finally some great offers in Finland, too. Citymarket is making a clearance on their Christmas gift articles. All their Christmas offer sets should be 40% off, if there's anything left. For example: 6754 Family Home <39€ 7633 Construction Site <60€ 7642 Garage <54€
-
Everything else should be cheaper in Tallinn, but brand toys and many dvd's and games are a little bit higher, at least Lego sets. :(
-
In Tallinn prices of Lego are way up higher than in Finland. Finnish prices compare quite well at least prices in Amsterdam and Barcelona few weeks ago. Nothing special sets (ok, some limited edition Power Miners or Star Wars or Wind Turbine Transport you can find from very few shops, but I don't know how widely they are available in other countries), occasionally you might find some clearance sets (mainly from Anttila, Citymarket, Prisma, Sokos). The biggest selection of sets should be at Stockmann. Now, under Christmas there might be several "buy 4 toys, get the cheapest one for free"-offers at Anttila, Citymarket or Prisma, if 25% or less is good offer for you. If you have Finn (with a Plussa-bonus-card) with you, Anttila-chain has these coupons when you get 20€ off of your 100€ purchase. Those coupons are valid until 5.12. and you should get those easily from the catalogues in the shops. But you'll need the bonus card to get the offer. Those "4 for the price of 3"-offers might also be limited to customer-loyality-card-people only, but not always. If I remember, I can update some next week offers here if available.

Woops, I got a little carried away because somebody had turned that into "Round about"... Sorry, my mistake! But it still would be great to have one (or many)!
-
At some point "Run abouts" has turned into "Round about", which sounds really interesting! For a long time I've been wondering how to make a good round about (do I have to use landing way plates or some space road plates), it might be good to get an official one. Round abouts have been "a popular phenomenon" at least in Finland last ten years so why not in Lego City, too?
-
Nope, this was a really really better deal. (And cheaper.) A collector contacted me and asked if I'm willing to buy his entire collection - main idea was that the bricks will get a good new home. And oh my what a treasure chest the purchase has been - Monorail 6990 + accessory track pack assembled, half dozen 9V trains + additional locomotives and wagons waiting for inspection. A little dust on everything but otherwise everything is in perfect condition - all the instructions stored in maps, some old boxes also present. Btw, the Finnish Huuto.net offer is almost 7000€...

D'oh! My apartment is now full of bricks... It took me two journeys (=500 km) with my car to transport the collection I purchased a week ago. About 100.000 bricks and 600-700 sets more, now trying to get an idea how to organize and inventory those. Photos coming if needed and taken.
-
I think this might be the key idea. Connected to a 1x1 round brick a normal 1x1 round plate would make a combination similar to the old 1x1 round brick. I think the combination of plate and the brick can be quite usual in the new games so the hole is added because of safety cautions. It is a little bit ugly, but maybe useful, too.

I really like the Pick-A-Brick wall!
-
That's an interesting suggestion. If not completed variety of time zones, at least Pirates and Castle and others as some hidden features. I have some plans for the future, let's see how I can connect those ideas and your idea together.
-
Those briefcases are from Chaos-Pick-A-Brick containers that there used to be at Finnish Hypermarkets now and then few years ago. (Huge boxes filled with random pieces to collect in a bin/bag/box for a certain price). For the same reason I also have about hundred pieces of 2x2 round tile with pie pattern and some other stuff. Oh, over 100 blue books...

I use the brick separator quite often. But if in hurry, then nails and teeth might be a quicker (and more destructible) way. Sometimes you need knife to get two large plates separated. I have over half dozen separators but some of them have worn out.
