OOC: Just to move things along, Varen moves to E5 and explores it. He then moves to E4 and explores it.

"I think for now this may be the best option. Two teams can cover more ground, and if we run into any issues we can still remain close enough to respond to the other's needs." Zaria turns to Kirwin. "I have never travelled in such a manner, Kirwin, but I will keep you safe. I promise."

Having suited up, Zaria takes a moment to adjust to her new attire. "Alright, I feel like we should tackle clearing out some debris near the Actaeon if we can, and then check our immediate surroundings for the signal. We should move out but stick close to at least one other person in case something should happen. Sound good?" Zaria will move out to C5, then clears it of debris. She then explores C5, and then finally moves to B5.

"I cannot speak for Yelana, but I for one would love to have the company of the unit standing before me." Heisenberg motions to sit next to him. -
Zaria squints at the suits, her expression slowly transitioning from curiosity to hesitant skepticism to something bordering on giddy joy. "We're going outside the ship, aren't we?" She asks, clearly trying to contain her intense excitement.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Heroica Hall

"You seem very fixated on the concept that I have some connection to this hall of yours. Curious." Heisenberg tells Yelana as he returns to his drink before continuing, his hands animatedly expounding his speech. "No, I am afraid I am merely here to experience this place before it's facilities fully switch over from that of a working hotel into that of a guild hall, although I at least am happy someone will take care of this old building. It was starting to become an eyesore in its dilapidated condition. I had been here a few times prior, but that was many moons ago, before the war." He listens intently as Yelana speaks about her work, his eyebrows shifting as his interest is piqued. "Field work, eh?" Heisenberg chuckles to himself. "Interesting then that you didn't claim to have worked for the Triad and that you still work for the Triad. Curious, that. As for myself, I have had many different occupations in my life time. As of right now I am in between jobs, but I've been a lecturer on the subjects of literature and story structure. I wrote a few books and thesis papers on the subject, although I doubt it is anything you would care much about. I was quite avid in the holo-chess scene for awhile, but it's been awhile since I was a part of that. No, I cannot say it has been as interesting a life as yours, seemingly." He smiles at Yelana, his excitement obvious. He notices Bers sitting alone and motions for him to sit with him. "Come! If you wish to sit and join us you are more than welcome to my adamite friend!" "If you're looking for something fixed, probably Rachelle. She's likely in her office at this time of day." -
Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Heroica Hall

"My sincerest apologies." Heisenberg responds to Yelana as she recoils her hand. "It won't happen again. Why, yes indeed, I am the fellow who is taking up current residence in the penthouse suite. I heard that the hotel was being converted into a guildhall for adventurer types and I decided to come down and see what had become of the old building. I saw an advertisement while at the picture show and I simply had to see this place one last time before it transformed from the Grand Ebria Hotel into the new, spectacular Heroica Hall." Heisenberg's screwdriver is placed before him as Yelana's chai tea is finished, the pot being placed next to her cup along with her croissant. Heisenberg lifts his glass to his mouth and drinks softly, placing a hand underneath his cup to keep it steady. "Yes, quite the turn around this place has had. How long have you been here, Miss Fennix? I understand this organization is quite young, but how experienced a guild member are you, hmm?" Heisenberg asks, intrigued in a conversation. -

Yelana Perception Check (DC: 1): (1,3,3,4 +1 Success) Two Successes Yelana Insight Check (DC: ?): (4,4,5,5) Four Successes It was safe to assume that the figure entering the hall was the individual who was staying in the penthouse suite. He entered the hall without any other articles and looked unarmed. Sitting next to the man, Yelana notices him quickly look her over, his eyes tracing around her with inquisitive interest. "Miss Fennix, a pleasure to make your acquaintance." He takes her hand and kisses her hand, reaching across the bar to do so. "My friends call me Heisenberg, and I insist you do the same as well." He smiles as gently lets go of her hand. "This is quite the establishment. Are you a member of the guild currently taking up residence here?" Heisenberg asks Yelana. She can tell he seems excited to be talking about the hall and Heroica in general. -
Zaria looks out the cockpit from the shuttle's hold and marvels at the expanse of space before her. It was as terrifying as it was breathtakingly beautiful. "By Varuth's guiding light..." Zaria was awestruck at the vista before her, entranced by the ominous as much as she was the spectacle of it.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - General Discussion

The gears in Endgame's head are now turning as he figures out how to implement a monster that size in a fight. On a more serious note, I do like how this game allows us to mess around with scale in terms of building terrain for battles. Very cool build, WBD. -
Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Heroica Hall

Sign Ups for Mission 8 are being pushed back to November 19. Entering the hall with a flourish of his cape, a figure strides towards the bar, neatening his bow tie and straightening his collar. His suit is worn and out of fashion by a number of years, and yet his well styled hair and scruffy facial hair belies an understanding of dashing charm. He sits on a stool, bringing his seat closer to the bar with a screech. "Bartender!" He jovial addresses Thorvald, his finger raising with a flourish. "Take some vodka and some orange juice and produce for me your finest screwdriver!" "Sure thing." Thorvald gets to work preparing the drink as the human man taps his fingers across the bar, examining the hall with a curious eye. -
Zaria felt a sense of unease at Kirwin's story. The thought of being stuck on a space station by herself for who knows how long sent goosebumps up her arms. To look out onto the vastness of the galaxy and see the stars and planets across the void of space and not be able to reach them felt like damnation more than anything else. She moved her thoughts away from Kirwin's story and towards positive emotions. "Well, Kirwin, I am glad you are among good company now, and not trapped on a space station by yourself." She smiled at him, giving him a thumbs up.
-
Zaria crossed her arms as she listened to the poor excuses for stories being told. As much as Zaria wanted to lament, she understood that the group around her was seemingly young, none of them over a century old. She sighed. "Where I am from oratory storytellers are prized for their ability to craft a story. To spin tapestries from mere words is their passion as much as their occupation: you do not make a living travelling and telling stories because you wish to become rich. I travelled with a few looking for companionship on the dangerous roads, and often times I was an audience for them to practice on. Most of these stories have no known author, as they are collected in the minds of the orators and shared among them freely. Some of them are tales of tricksters outwitting demons, other times they are accounts of great battles and the heroes who fought them. However, some nights orators arrive and tell stories of chilling suspense, a reminder that their is no cheating death. This is one of the more popular ones in that vein. Many, many moons ago, a rich merchant in Rovodan sent her servant to the marketplace to purchase food for a banquet. The merchant waited, and waited, until finally at dusk the servant returned pale faced, sweat pooling under their brow. When the merchant asked her servant what had caused them to take so long, the servant replied in a trembling voice "my lady, you must forgive me, but as I made my way through the market I was jostled by a woman in the crowd, and when I turned and looked I saw that it was Death that had jostled me, and she looked at me and made a threatening gesture. Oh, my lady, you must let me take your steed and leave this city so I may escape my fate! I will ride to Scarjavul. Death will not find me there." Zaria tries to add some inflection to the voice of the servant, a tremble to her voice, but she is no actor despite her best efforts. "So, the merchant lent the servant her steed, who dug their heels into the spurs, and rode into the night towards Scarjavul. The merchant, still in need of food, went to the market herself, and there in the crowd, stood Death. The merchant approached Death cautiously, and asked her "Why did you make a threatening gesture towards my servant when you saw them today?", to which Death replied "I made no threatening gesture, I was taken aback by surprise. I was surprised to see your servant here in Rovodan... for I have an appointment with them tonight in Scarjavul." Zaria straightens her posture, realizing she had begun to slouch. "Sorry if that was a little too scary. I know things are tense, but it is a story I am fond of. None of know when our appointment with Death is, all we can do is make choices to stave it off as long as possible."
-
Zaria nods to Merei. "Of course. I would expect the rest of you to come to my defence if need be, but I also have a power khopesh. I am obliged to put myself between most of this group and the enemy as a shield wall, so to speak." "It may not be kind, but for myself at least I enjoy the challenge." Zaria replies, smiling earnestly at Jace. "There are a lot of places that are hard to reach and difficult to travel to, but sometimes we need to overcome these obstacles in order to reach our destination." Zaria was ready. This was a challenge she'd face head on.
-
"Shadowy or not, we seemingly have a destination to head to, and one fraught with peril and danger no less!" Zaria smiled. She had decided the feeling settling into her was adrenaline and the thrill of the unknown and not the potential for being ejected into the void of space. "If our journey takes us into this Forbidden Sector than Varuth will guide us through it safely."
-
“I do not believe anyone here stated that there was a disagreement with the crew.” Zaria responds to Varen. She ponders on the information provided, placing her hands on her hips as she thinks. “So, there were a number of incidents at this station prior to the freighter leaving port by the look of things. The ship staying longer than anticipated, a fight breaking out between the crew and the Starbkazers, a dispute between the captain and the pilot… I think Illbery decided to go through the Forbidden Sector as a means of making up for lost time.” Zaria looks to the rest of the team, looking for others opinion on the matter.
-
Zaria watches as the situation deescalates and relaxes her muscles. One of these days her tenseness would tear something, but it wouldn't be this day. "Jace, I do not know if I've discovered where the ship is, but I may have an idea of where it went. Between here and Cosmopoli are two dying stars, Scylla and Charybdis. The area between the two stars is known as the Forbidden Sector due to how the gravitational pull from both stars can rip a ship to shreds. However, some pilots have made the journey between the two stars and lived to tell the tale apparently. It is supposedly much faster than going around the sector. What is the likelihood the pilot made that journey and not go around the area?" Zaria asks Jace, but she figured someone else might've overheard something to corroborate, or even make her information irrelevant.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Mission Masters Lounge

Zepher brought up earlier that Heroica: GAtS is really good at blending different aesthetics, and playing through Borderlands 3 for the first time I get the feeling ultimately that's going to be my go to for describing how I feel Heroica's going to look. We can have dusty, grimy backwater worlds with abandoned refineries and mining facilities, metropolitan cities glistening against the night sky, and planets with monastic temples set to the backdrop of foggy, mountains and rolling hills. Whatever sort of Sci-Fi vibe you want to go for, we can find it somewhere in this world. -
Zaria glared at the officers, hoping their current disposition could lend her further insight into their motives, hoping it would help her in responding with the two.
-
Zaria respectfully gestures to the two seated men, raising her hand parallel to her face with her index and middle finger raised, bowing quickly. "Juvo nadtj ed aeih khulocj, take care on the road ahead." Taking the card and slipping it into one of her pouches, she turns her attention to the conflict at hand. She reaches for a container of paper napkins on a table and approaches Kirwin. "Kirwin, here. Let me help clean you up, if you will allow me to."

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Heroica Hall

"Of course. There are numerous tall tales, but I have found that even in the most wild of claims is a kernel of truth. There is only so much time in the universe to investigate these stories, and not all of us get joy from living the life of an adventurer, searching for the kernel, understandably so." Zaria returns her attention to the duo before turning back to the Starblazers. Zaria instinctively raises a hand to her head, surprised at the echoing of Alexa's voice in her head. She nods back to Alexa before returning to Lord Malloch and Mr. Tobermory. "As much as I would like to continue this conversation, I fear there might be a bout of violence shortly, and protecting my travelling companions and the rest of the diners is my priority. I would love to talk with you again, Lord Malloch and Mr. Tobermory. Is there any way I can contact you to continue our discussions?"
-
“Of course.” Zaria responds, nodding in agreement. She was happy to be with someone who she could philosophize with. “Everyone is the hero of their own story. We are all just fragile things, and we must all do our best to protect ourselves and each other. The road of life is never easy, but it is worth journeying on. What kind of rumours have you two heard of?” Zaria pivots in her chair as the sound of Merei’s escalating conflict reaches her pointed ears. She continues to listen to Lord Malloch, but finds her attention drawn to potential danger.
-
Having listened to Lord Malloch speak of his and his companion's situation, Zaria clasps her hands and thinks for a moment, searching her mind for fitting words. "That is quite the dilemma you have, my lord. In terms of passing between the twin suns, you are correct in that the danger and risks are present and accounted for. However, you yourself have stated that you are not sure you and your associate are capable of even making the passage yourselves, no offence intended. As much as the promise of a shorter trip seems promising, it appears that it comes with a high cost for failure. I understand a desire to make it to somewhere quickly and expediently, but take it from someone who's walked a great deal of distance over two hundred years: you get to where you're going eventually, one way or another. As tempting as it may be to skirt between these suns, if you do not feel confident in your skills as a pilot, do not rely on them here. I would take the journey around the suns. It may be slower, and it may still have dangers present, but you at least know you are not going to be ripped to pieces by the gravitation of two dying suns." Zaria takes in a deep breath. Was it possible this is where the missing freighter was? Between two dying stars? Was the freighter even in one piece still? Many quetioned lingered in her mind. Despite this, she smiled at the two individuals she was consulting. "I know it is not the exciting answer, but all journeys are dangerous in some capacity. It is all about knowing your limits. Now then, if you do not mind me asking, you said this station has a bit of a reputation. What kind of reputation does it have?"
-
Taking her food with her, Zaria takes a seat with the nobleman and his associate. "Mr. Tobermory, a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I'll be completely honest, you two seem to know the area more than I do, and I'd like to understand the position you two are currently in more. What can you tell me about the Forbidden Sector?" Zaria asks, curious about what actually makes an area of space known as the Forbidden Sector.
