ZCerberus: I don’t want to argue with a moderator, but please allow me for the last time to say that I don’t think it’s OK to let a member keep on INSULTING people and just say that he’s just “strongly opinionated.” Saying that we have “sheep mentality” for supporting a certain MOC is a plain rude insult, not a strong opinion. Going on and on for months calling a fellow fan’s creation “ugly” and “awful” and “not worthy of any support” is just ridiculously rude, this is not how we’re supposed to criticize a MOC we don’t like here, or is it? Because if it is then I should think twice before sharing any of my creations here if rude criticism is allowed. I’ll just believe that you might not have come across his insults since you’re not following this thread closely; because to be honest I really don’t believe you support rudeness in the name of freedom of speech, so I’ll just stop here since you’re not aware of the situation. And frankly I don’t expect you to remember everything we say here, positive or negative. Perhaps I protested very late; I should’ve done that every time he made an insult so you could pass a clear judgment. I’ve already discussed this “situation” with another moderator, Kabel, who also didn’t follow much of the discussion, and he understood my point of view and told me what to do if this member crossed the line again, so he could judge by himself and see who’s right, so I don’t know why I deserve another lesson. Please don’t get me wrong, again, I’m not arguing with you or trying to be a pain, I’m just upset that such behavior kept on going for too long in a forum that I believed to be under heavy supervision, and I felt sorry for Nuju for being harshly criticized like that. Please tell me if I crossed any lines by doing so. -
[LEGO Ideas] Movie Accurate Arena Beasts (minifigure scale)
Khaled Yousef replied to LegoAcklay's topic in LEGO Star Wars
AMAZING work, everything looks so accurate and just awesome, clever use of parts and accurate scale for such difficult creatures, especially Nexu; I just wished those parts existed in these colors. I really like when someone puts so much effort in designing minifig scale movie accurate MOCs, it’s so much harder, in my opinion, than the larger UCS scale stuff, and you did that in such a professional way it MUST be a real set someday.- 20 replies

Yeah, it doesn’t look very good like this, so I hope LEGO don’t use that look.

You sir are a legend in my book. I remember when you first presented your LOTR set ideas before LEGO even considered touching the license. I thought your idea was brilliant, designing MOCs in a LEGO set style, with all its limitations, and I loved all your clever designs and hoped LEGO might someday do the same. I’m very happy for you, gaining 10000 supporters to your amazing MOC, and I hope it finally becomes a set. And even if it didn’t it’s still an outstanding achievement that you should be proud of. For me you’ll always be the first one to bring Middle Earth to LEGO in a professional way. -
Anyone else think that the new pigtail hairpiece from CMF 14 Zombie Cheerleader might work for Penny? I don't like or support this show in any way, but it's just my fascination to see real things and people turn to LEGO is what excites me about this set.

Kabel: Thanks man. I’ll do that. Now Deathleach, you have a point here, IDEAS sets are rather small, so there might not be a good chance for Minas Tirith to become an IDEAS sets… but that doesn’t mean it won’t convince LEGO that maybe Orthanc shouldn’t be the farewell set for this extremely popular theme, as it has been demonstrated by fans through that project or others like Rivendell. -

Kabel: Never meant you weren’t doing a great effort to keep this place together, I know how difficult it can be, and your effort it greatly appreciated. It’s just that for all the negatives of this thread only one is basically intolerable which is someone going around insulting almost everyone without even getting a ticket, and I thought it was too obvious to miss, even for a casual reader of the thread. As for fan ranting, I don’t see a problem with people discussing their wishes and dreams, although pointless, as long as it’s in a friendly manner. The reason why I didn’t use the report button is that everytime I try to give him an excuse; maybe he has a problem, maybe he’s blowing off steam, maybe he’d stop and realize he’s crossing many lines at some point… but then he never quits, not even when 10000 people disagrees with him, so I thought since BrickJagger was mentioning the downsides of this thread it might be a good idea to give a hint about something that went on too long and too far. Sorry if it made you think I was criticizing you or these forums in general; just this thread and how weird it had become. -

You’re probably right; but just let them have their fun speculating and dreaming, there is no harm in that, right? -

Well, to be fair, there is something real to talk about in this thread, that one LOTR project (Nuju’s) has reached 10000 votes and it’s being currently reviewed by LEGO as a “potential” set. Discussing this is hardly a useless rant of fans in denial. I think this thread could only be considered officially dead if the project was rejected; and as far as we know this didn’t happen yet. -

You forgot this BrickJagger: 6- About 10000 posts from one person insulting anyone who’d mention Nuju’s awesome creation in a good way 7- About 0 posts from moderators telling this one member to have a little more respect to a fellow Eurobricker who happened to have built an extremely popular MOC, even if he didn’t like it that much That’s what bothered me about this thread, not the wish lists or the people who like to keep discussing their favorite theme in peace. -

The ship looks great, and I was going to say I wish it showed also the minifigs, but then I thought I’m done with all the blurry prelims with unfinished minifigs place holders; nothing would satisfy other than the semi-final product showcased at NYTF. -

Mass production is not an excuse for poor printing; pen companies in Germany and Japan produce like billions of plastic pens every year and they all have bold printing on the sides. An extra layer of color on darker plastic should be no problem for a company that’s known for the quality of its products… LEGO is not cheap; it’s a premium product. This year is so slow with the news and pictures that we drifted with the discussion to minor issues, it’s February already and we’ve only seen a poor picture of a rather awesome set, but that’s it. Where is Tydirium? Where are the six mysterious GALIDOR like sets? Where are the boring Episode I repeats? -
Those photos are very artistic and creative. My favorite one is Searching the Alley. Great job.

They do? That’s awesome deskp, I’m waiting for my Galadriel to arrive from France with a new order, and you made me even more excited to receive her. Let us hope they update the capes on the new SW minifigs too. -

This; and Pirates sails too, otherwise I prefer plastic. Now, wouldn’t it be cool if they changed the cape design at least to make it surround the body more? Think how much better those new Royal Guards would look. Those starchy capes are here since 1999, and I think it’s time to change them, fabric and cut. -

Khaled Yousef replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Not a big fan of printed robes, the printing usually sucks, especially if it was a light color on dark plastic; newest Old Ben or MTT Qui-gon are screaming examples, also they look stupid with no side printing of the cape. I would’ve preferred an extra effort by LEGO to use better cloth for capes, you know, one that flows more naturally and be closer and more surrounding to the body, it’s not that hard. I really don’t understand how a quality oriented company like LEGO cannot make proper prints on their minifigs, while other amateur e-bay customizers are doing it the right way. It’s just an extra layer of color so it won’t look transparent and cheap, how hard can it be? -

I’ve been inside the pyramid in Giza, and I must say your lighting looks exactly the same as the real thing, and it reminded me of that awesome experience. You managed to capture the mysterious and scary atmosphere… excellent job. -

You mean because of the lack of holes on the sides of the new phase 2 helmet? They could just find a new way to attach a visor to the existing one, or perhaps just make a tiny little mold for a visor that attaches on the existing helmet from the outside, that of course if they didn’t already had a solution ready when they designed it. With all the tons of new molds we get from China I don’t see why it would be difficult. -

I completely agree with you Cyberfounder, and that’s exactly the point I was trying to make by saying “wasted sets.” How long have we been waiting for a proper Commander Cody minifig? And when we get him finally, ten years after the movie was released, he’s Bionicle! -
LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
Khaled Yousef replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
In what way does “wasted sets” imply that I mean LEGO changed their minds about anything at any point? Of course I know they plan their lineup, in a far more sophisticated way, marketing wise, than we can ever know. What I meant was that we get a limited chance every wave for essential missing minifigs to be released, or sets with useful parts like I explained, and those Bionicle like sets wedging themselves for the first time in the normal sets lineup wastes good chances to get the important missing stuff by taking their place. Maybe if we were getting the usual number of normal sets PLUS those weird ones, maybe that would’ve been OK. Let the action figure fans have their fun too. But those odd sets are taking important places of normal sets, and in a tough time; remember, this might be the last chance we get missing PT or even OT characters before the entire lineup is occupied by TFA and Rebels sets starting next winter wave. Those are “wasted chances of good sets” if you’d like me to re-phrase my opinion. -
LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
Khaled Yousef replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The construction figs might be legit? Well, that’s a bummer. Not only did we get most sets wasted on Episode I re-makes; now we get six useless sets with no minifigs or ships/ vehicles, and no useful LEGO parts either. (I know Bionicle parts are LEGO too, but to me it’s a totally different toy) I guess this is only good for the Bionicle and Super-Heroes fans though… good for you guys. And while we’re at it, wasted sets I mean, what’s up with all the Episode I sets we’ve been getting lately? They seem to find their way into every wave, and not very creative choices of vehicles or scenes too… there are other PT movies LEGO, with a lot more potential than, say, stupid droid carrier, like Zam’s speeder or arena action scenes from Episode II or any cool stuff related to Order 66 or anything with Commander Cody from Episode III… so much stuff we didn’t get, but we keep getting Jar Jars and Battle Droids every year which is a conundrum for me… so much play and collectability potential wasted over repeated and not very exciting choices. I know we got Episode II run in 2013, and Episode III run in 2014… my point is Episode I is in almost EVERY wave, and with the same exact set re-re-re-designed.
