"The Dark Ages" - How long were you away from Lego?
Janglais replied to Duck's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Like many here, I would have put it all away when I was somewhere around 14-15 in the mid-90s. My next door neighbour and I used to spend the weekends building stuff all the time. I distinctly remember when he moved away a girl at school making fun of us not being able to "Play Lego" anymore, and I think that was the catalyst. A year or so ago, a mate recommended I try playing Lego Star Wars on the XBOX, which then got me looking at what Lego sets were out there these days. This then led to a few nostalgic walks through the toy aisle on my lunch break and eventually to buying a couple of covert Star Wars sets (which sat at home hidden away from my housemate). Now with the housemate moved out, there are two spare rooms in the house - one of which I intend to use for Lego. It starts again (at age 31)... -
Same here. I managed to find the sails (and hull etc) of the Caribbean Clipper yesterday, and they are very dirty - smoke stained by the look of it. Will try a few techniques mentioned here and see how I go. Cheers, Daniel

I was never really a G I Joe fan, so there's not much. The Transformers stuff looks to be some broken bits and weapons etc, nothing complete (they will presumably be in another box somewhere). One Lego box now sorted ... Only 1/3rd were real Lego pieces (though I think I now have all of my old 9V train track).

Hi all, Sorry if this posted in the wrong section... While visiting the old family home over the long weekend, I decided to try and hunt out all of my old Lego. I've found four boxes, which would be about right, but a HEAP of other stuff has been mixed in - G I Joes, Transformers, Star Wars toys and the obligatory Mega Blocks and Lego clones. Fun, but taking a long time. Will let you know how I go... Daniel

Cheers for this thread, and thanks for the details regarding instructions on building this ship - I was actually about to ask the question. Have always been a fan of SOTE and have just started re-reading the book.

I just signed up - a great little way to show what's in each set. Cheers for putting me on to that.

Cheers for that. I've already made a few calls, and things are looking good ;) Will probably be back there over the Easter weekend, so will keep you all posted. Agreed. Yesterday while going through some of the photos, I remembered shooting an uncle in the eye with one of the cannons while we were on holiday - lucky he was wearing his glasses.

BBC says it's going to be Kubrik's script from the 1970s... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-21652878

Hi All, Just been going through Brickipedia, reminiscing about what I had as a kid... 6235 - Buried Treasure 6245 - Harbor Sentry 6255 - Pirate Comic 6257 - Castaway's Raft 6265 - Sabre Island 6270 - Forbidden Island 6274 - Caribbean Clipper 6276 - El Dorado Fortress I'm sure most of it would still exist in boxes back home. I'll have to try and root it all out next time I'm back. I guess 'missing' pieces could be found on Bricklink or some other website. Oh, the memories... Daniel

Hi all, Thanks for the welcome messages! Back in the day I was always a fan of the Castle and Pirates themes. At the moment though I've been leaning towards the Star Wars sets, and am currently working on building up a bit of a collection (thanks local stores and eBay). Cheers for the Aussie Sales Thread link - I'll make sure to check that out. Cheers, Janglais P.S. If anyone's wondering, the avatar image is a piece of rice wearing a fedora and carrying a tommy gun ... the icon for the Rice Mafia - our online games clan. I'm actually surprised it appeared.

Hi all, New to the forum. Actually, 'new' to Lego (ie, haven't touched the stuff in something like 15 years). Just recently started getting back into it all, and thought I'd join up with one of the online communities. Looking forward to seeing what's going on around the traps! Cheers, Janglais
