  1. It looked great before, and it looks awsome now with the offset gunports. The focsul looks better too! Good work! Swab
  2. Very cool! I like the stern detail (something I've never been to good at coming up with, just look at the Achilles...) Keep up the good work! Swab
  3. Looks great! I like the curve of the hull. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Swab
  4. What an awsome little MOC. Looks great! Swab

    HMS Sophia

Very nice liitle ship. I like the color scheme. Keep up the good work! Swab
  6. Looks good! I can't wait to see pictures of an entire gun deck of those. Swab
  7. Nice ship! I like that kind of tumble-home too. Looking forward to seeing more pictures! Swab
  8. I like it. Especially the figure head. It might look better with different rigging, but overall it looks great. The color scheme reminds me of an old 17th century ship. Swab
  9. Here's an interior shot (after I did a little work on it). Also, I painted the top portion of the bow and stern hull sections to help fill out the whole color scheme. Thanks again, Swab
  10. Honestly I've always been pretty satisfied with just the paper sails. Although I would like to have that authentic Lego sort of look. what kind of cloth do you use and where might you get it? Thanks, Swab

    Port teasers

Wow! These kind of MOC's just blow my mind. I love the little details (the ones I could see). Can't wait to see the finished product! Swab
  12. I've got some questions for you - How much hull mid sections did you use? 5 - Does the ship have an interior? Yes and no.... - Did you make some kind of hatch for the crew to move to the gun deck? Another detail I'll be adding shortly. - Most important: Can you take some extra pictures? I would love to see one of the stern of this ship. I can't see that in any of these pics. I'll probably be adding pictures in the future as I add things to the ship, but if you would like to see pictures now, there's some on Brickshelf; search Achilles. Glad you like it! Swab
  13. 56d Ok, after receiving some very helpful tips I have rebuilt the main gun deck with each gun 3 studs apart. I don't know why I never tried this before--even after I saw numerous ships on Brickshelf with at least 3 studs. It looks so much better--more flowing i guess you could say. I've also added cat heads and anchors (a detail I've been meaning to add). I also removed the lowest spar on each mast, and I'm replacing them with just lines. It's more detailed that way, and I get extra spar parts. Thanks a bunch for the advice everyone. More ships coming soon! P.S sorry for the image size, I'm technologically challenged so I don't know how to down size them.
  14. I've always liked this ship. I found it a while back on Brickshelf (long before i found the forum). I like the color scheme and the new rope rigging. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Swab
  15. I would certainly be interested. Being historically accurate is something the Lego weapons lack. As long as the new weapons by Brickarms allow for different poses (it would be difficult to put a soldier at shoulder arms if the musket was straight). But again, I'm all for it!
  16. Wow! I've always loved models like these. Awsome details. Fantastic MOC. --- Swab

    HMS Achilles

I'm rebuilding the gun deck now with each gun 3 studs apart , and I'm very pleased with the new look. However, because of the loss of space she will be reduced to 36 guns; oh well. Thanks for the tip guys!

    HMS Achilles

Well I didn't want to show off all of them at once but if you want to see it....

    HMS Achilles

54d Hi all, I'm new here, but I just wanted to show ya'll one of my ships. The HMS Achilles; 38 guns. I tried to keep the profile of the hull low while still making the rest of the ship "beefy" enough. She's long and narrow. I'm constantly changing small parts of it, but this is the most recent picture. This is my first frigate and I'm pleased with most of the outcome. The one thing I've never quite been satisfied with however is the cabin galleries and the focsul. Port quarter. The stern. Let me know what ya'll think, and I'd appreciate any tips. Thanks, Swab Edit by Phred: Down-sized pics.
