  1. Hi, I am in need of tips, tricks and advice. Here's a link to the page, explaining the project. Already I've had some advice, most notably from Saint and VBBN, but, I turn to you, General Discussion readers, for advice. I'M STUCK!!! And I haven't even started. If you clikety-clicked the link you'll see what I'm trying to build. The problem is, where do I start? Obviously I need to first build some kind of technic framework. However, which bit shall I build? It's minifigure scale, so whatever part I pick to do first will be massive anyway. I was thinking maybe the engine, the hardest part to see, therefor the easiest to imagine. Also, it's the least desirable part I want to do, and if I do it first, I'd be obliged to carry on and finish the project rather than having a huge engine sitting around all day, failing you all, then breaking it up and feeling sorry for myself. So, dear readers, its up to you! See poll above and for Lego's sake, vote! I'm desperate! ~A rather resigned and frazzled A.S.
  2. Thanks for the help guys. Yeah, framework is essential. From looking at the pic, what shape would you say I need to make ?? Saint, cheers for the ideas and the pictures, what an inspiration! As for all the other questions about how many troops it could fit, I'd say about... 200+ Marines 100+ FlameThrowers 50+ Spartans, loads of Tech Support and mechanics, and then the game's main cast. It'll all be kitted out with vehicles bays (+vehicles), living quarters for everyone, cryo-banks for cryogenic sleep, all the main rooms, kitchens, EVERYTHING! Luckily my brother moved out of my room so I have a huge room to myself. My main concern is actually the col, our. My supply of Dark Bluish Gray is VERY LIMITED, so if anyone is willing to trade Bley for anything I have, like minifigs to bulk multi-colored blocks, I would much appreciate it. I hope you'll all follow me on this journey and I hope we'll all enjoy it, too. ~A.S P.S. In regards to my sanity, ehh... this, like I said, is my "break". But yeah, I'm doo-lally!
  3. Hey guys, I was just wondering, seeing as I really want to "break" into the Lego Fan community, if there are any Events going on around The West Midlands, here in the UK? Or any in England, for that matter. I've seen photo's read articles, seen movies, and it all looks like great fun! If there is one near me, I can't wait for all the cool displays put on, the talented builders, and talking to some guys about my WIP and stuff. But I have no indication that there is one going on... ~A.S.
  4. As a huge fan of the Halo games and Halo Wars I'm glad someone got the license, however MB look like they've strayed from the target a wee bit here. I think that, while the silhouettes are okay, when you actually look at them, its Plasti-Crap. Luckily for me, I've ordered huge amounts of BrickArms Halo weapons and BrickForge Space Marine armor sets. ... Shall I tell you about my project? Okay, LINK! ~A.S.
  5. Hey there. As a big fan of the HALO series I've recently been blown away by HALO Wars, the newest in the license. The game strays away from the other games First Person Shooter layout and switches to a Real Time Strategy format, enabling you to command your troops and win, rather than running around alongside them. My favorite feature of HALO Wars is the good guy's (UNSC) huge battleship, the "UNSC Spirit Of Fire" Here's a reference picture for you: My aim is to really kick off my Lego "career" and build this beast to mini-fig scale in Lego. I consider myself an average builder, capable of cool MOCs, like my Market Village Expansion I'm currently working on (but taking a break), but have never really made my "break". Inspired by Aaron Morse, here on EB, Chris Doyle on ReasonablyClever.com and so many other greats, I decided that my love for this ship was enough to take control of my life and build it in Lego. At mini-fig scale. Oh boy. I estimate this project to take possibly 2 years on-and-off, on top of GCSE coursework and all those other hassles. The main color is dark Bluish Gray, as thats all the ship is really. An assortment of geometrical shapes in a uniform color. Already I've made massive plans for the mini-figs, ordering BULK amounts of the BrickForge Space Marine armor sets and BrickArms weapons. Currently I am sorting things out in my head, conjuring up ideas for the little problems that I'll encounter. And making detailed sketches, of course. Seeing as HALO Wars is a relatively new game, not many shots of the Spirit are up on the 'net yet, but keeping recorded footage of all the cutscenes in the game playing constantly on my television, I reckon I will do okay. Ish. Stay tuned for more on this exciting project (for me, anyway). Tips and ideas VERY welcome (oh please give me some ideas!)
  6. You, sir, are right on the proverbial money! The Hinge Tool, while it's purpose is VERY useful, doesn't actually...well, hinge, really. There's no real sense of control over it. I mean, of course, its a piece of computer software, so you won't build like you would in real life, but it's still pretty terrible for what could be a VERY USEFUL tool. My rant is over, help yourself to an internet and a chocolate brownie on your way out of the lecture hall.
  7. Teehee, this is really clever, and funny too. I like the construction you got going on there, and the cat in a tree photo is just hilarious. Thank you for starting my morning with a smile Lovin' these 'bots! ~A.S.
  8. Your all pervs. HOWEVER - ahem, all the personnel aboard my SUPER-SECRET-PROJECT (when I actually get around to building the framework and structure, let alone the inside) will have a massive opening part-AYYY and the theme?
