Added another part. It's kind of a boring build - it's a sand dune. I swear the next part'll have proper buildings.

So, I've been super busy with school and exams and such, so I didn't really have time to start on my entry until this week. As a result, I'm going to post my entry in the form of small vignettes which I can complete quickly in my spare time. Hope the story makes up for the lack of quality in the build! :D As dawn breaks, the Elf-Knights are busy training their swordsmanship. Today, they are lucky to witness a sparring match between two great swordsmen; Captain Velethuil and the ancient warrior Gil'eathe. As they take a break from their furious battle, a messenger arrives for Velethuil, bearing a letter. The Elf Captain reads it quickly, and then turns to Gil’eathe. ‘I beg your forgiveness, Elder Gil’eathe, but I have pressing concerns that I must attend to immediately. I have to leave immediately.’ The sword master nods, ‘I understand. Good fortunes with your journey.’ Velethuil leaves the training grounds and walks through Petraea’s streets towards the grand library where all Kaliphlin wisdom is stored. The librarian is a Baelnorn, an Elf granted undeath by magic. He is the wisest of Elves, having accumulated centuries of knowledge, which he records in manuscripts. Today, Velethuil visits the Bookmaster, in hopes of finding clues that will lead him to the Water Crystal. The Bookmaster’s voice is quiet, like the rustling pages of an old book. ‘What do you seek here, young Elf?’ ‘I seek information…about the Water Crystal.’ The Bookmaster’s eyes widen. ‘It’s about time someone started looking for that…let me find my book for you…’ Minutes later, and he returns with a crumbling scroll. He hands it to Velethuil, and disappears, smiling to himself. Velethuil carefully turns the pages, absorbing the information. Suddenly, he stops. ‘That must be it! I think I know where the Crystal might be…’ A week later, and Velethuil’s troops are at the Great Escarpment. They are looking for the entrance to the hidden shrine of the Crystal. The Elf-Knights search the sands, their keen eyes seeking out any unnatural formations. Suddenly, one Elf yells out. ‘There’s some kind of doorway here! Everyone, gather around!’ Using their magic, the Knights excavate the area, to find a collapsed archway leading into the ground. Velethuil clapped the Elf’s shoulder. ‘Excellent work, with any luck, the Crystal will be in there! Everyone, begin excavation!’ To be continued...

The myth idea sounds good! I think a two week period would be a good length for mini-challenges. -

The Rakath mountains are a terrifying place full of monsters and creatures unknown to the travellers. Even hardened warriors from Kaliphlin must rest up and fortify both their minds and bodies before taking on this treacherous land. Fortunately, a Kaliphlin Embassy exists close to the start of the hellish landscape, giving any travellers a better chance at taming the wild Rakath. Sorry guys, no interior on this one. I ran out of time waiting for Bricklink orders, so yeh...not exactly my best effort.

And now time for some lore... In ancient times, when the Falcon army and the Lion army fought, each other, and undead and orcs wreaked destruction upon the land, a mysterious warrior arrived from foreign shores. His name was Akhileus, and he led an army of sentient golden warriors, known as the Myrmidons. Together, they were an unstoppable force, fighting on the side of the Lion, and sweeping across the land in a crusade for glory. They fought for 30 long years, until during the Siege of Petraea, Akhileus, in his old age, cut his foot on a fallen spear, and was set upon by the enemy. Upon his death, the Myrmidons disbanded, and went their separate ways, having gained personalities and even souls. Now a small number of them still wander throughout Historica, while the rest dwell in the dark and secret places of the world, waiting for the day when another mighty warrior commands them once more. The Myrmidons are human-like automatons, built from golden pieces of armour, and magical circuitry. Their outer appearance resembles a regular human but they are much stronger, faster and durable. Their insides are completely protected by the armour, and unless a piece is damaged, their circuitry remains safe. A complex network of magical wires, resembling the human nervous system, runs inside their ‘shell’, powered by a magic crystal located where the human heart is. The crystal is known as a HeartStone, and gives the Myrmidon individuality and sentience, making them human, in all but physical form. If they aren’t destroyed in battle, which is generally extremely difficult, they can live forever, even in the harshest of environments. In addition to their immense physical strength and longevity, they can discharge magic, to a limited degree, from their body, allowing them to enchant weapons, armour, etc. Unfortunately, when they use magic several small metal plates open up in their hands, forearms, and back to allow the heat cause by a sudden surge in power to escape from the HeartStone, causing a momentary period of vulnerability. I'm also working on my embassy MOC...need to make a Cracklink order -
Sailing on the sand - awesome idea! The sails are really interesting as well. What's next; sand-surfing?

Two more characters to inhabit Kaliphlin! Gil'eathe, Legendary Blademaster A legendary Elf warrior that once fought for Kaliphlin, Gil'eathe holds the respect of the Elf-Knights. In an age long since passed, he was feared by his enemies, and revered for his swordsmanship. When he appeared upon a battlefield, his enemies would flee before him. Now, centuries later, Gil'eathe is retired from battles, and spends his day instructing young warriors. Despite his old age, his skills are still unparalleled, and none of his students have beaten him yet. Dalkor Twinmace, the Dwarven Juggernaut: Considered mad even by Dwarvish berserker standards, Dalkor is one of the few Dwarves that have managed to slay several trolls by himself. In battle, he uses two maces that are made from Impact-Iron, allowing him to create shockwaves in battle. Luckily, Dalkor’s Dwarvish constitute, strength and his enchanted Runewrought armour let him withstand the aftershocks that the Impact-Iron causes. -

Tower posted. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=63229 I'm waiting for a few more Bricklink orders to complete some new characters. -
At the dusty borders of Kaliphlin, where no sane Petraean would venture to, lies a wide expanse of near unhospitable land. Yet, a few groups of warriors inhabit the area, testing their skills against the monsters of the desert, and guarding the border of Kaliphlin domain, lest the other Guilds invade. In a place where the sun beats down mercilessly, and speed is of the utmost importance, the ‘outposts’ of the border are little but shelters, consisting of ruined remains of watchtowers long since fallen into disrepair. Barrels of long-lasting food are kept in the cooler shade, and the warriors that wander from outpost to outpost are always ready to move quickly amongst the countless ‘towers’ that line the border For Kaliphlin

Haha! I just noticed that the cat, frog and skeleton all move around. Very nice touch. -
Wow! Now this is the sort of magical weapon I'm talking about! When I saw the first picture, I thought that it was some kind of tunnelling fire wyrm!

Great tower! Love the SNOT build. Looks very realistic too.

Throughout Kaliphlin, there are many notable warriors and personalities, worth scores of ordinary soldiers. Here are just a few of those heroes. TukTuk, Wither-Woods Tracker: A goblin of the Wither-Woods, TukTuk knows them like the back of his hand. His small size and speed allow him to dodge attacks easily, and his darksteel axe is always ready to hack through foe and brambles alike. Ferrul Vashnif, Jackal-man Bladefang A travelling warrior of the Jackal-man tribes, Ferrul has earned the title of Bladefang amidst his people for his skill with a sword. His tumbling, low style of fighting, coupled with his animalistic strength and cunning mind makes him a dangerous opponent to fight. Imrathon and Vanessë, the Elvish Hunters: Elvish siblings trained as a spellsword and a ranger respectively. Imrathon is the elder brother and is calm, level headed and calculating, while his younger sister, Vanessë is always quick to draw her blades. Imrathon’s magical ability is only matched by his swordsmanship and Vanessë’s twin swords fighting style gives her an edge in many battles. Just felt like fleshing out the sheer diversity of the inhabitants of Kaliphlin. More to come later. -
There's no reason why monsters can't be civilised too Really good build; the mix of browns and dark red looks great!

Yeh, but the extent to how advanced machinery is will probably be restricted...with magically powered siege weapons, there are a lot more possibilities. -

Maybe a Build a War-Machine challenge? On that note, I've noticed that Avalonia seems to have a few medieval style war machines like ballistae and trebuchets, while Mitgardia seems to be leaning more towards steampunk technology. I recall our guild leader posting an idea about having technology powered by magic crystals; I for one think that it's a great idea!
