  1. That lava lamp is great! That custom sofa just is also very nice, reminds me of a psychiatrist's office chair.
  2. That hull is on par with some of the stuff I've seen in classic pirates! Good job! It all looks very smooth!
  3. Definitely a beautiful design. Do you have an idea what you'll be using for the cap? Here's a reference picture KDM
  4. haha beautiful! I love the use of the minifig head as the cup. Where did you get that beard piece?
  5. beautiful series! I can't wait for the HAZMAT suit and the sailor figure!

    MOC: Cafe

wow that is a beautiful design. definitely adds a modern touch to it! I love the giant coffee cup haha
  7. Yes the instruction is 23 pages total including the back cover. This was definitely an impulse set for me Thanks for the comments everyone!
  8. Picked this up from Toys R Us Vancouver today. They were still in the shipping box and not shelved yet so quickly grabbed one! Came with a $10 off gift card on next $50+ purchase as well! (I'm planning on using this on the new police headquarters ) Name: Police Minifigure Collection Set Number: 7279 Pieces: 57 Price: US $9.99/$12.99CAD Ages: 5-12 Minifigs: 4 Theme: City 2011 Year of Release: 2011 The Review Box Front Box Back The Pieces New Parts/Interesting Pieces I was debating on this vs the Police Dog Assignment set but the crowbar and the bag swayed me away. Plus, you get the new dog anyways! Instruction Manual Pretty standard. However, the manual came with a short comic with the police dog at work. Great addition to the playability. *Note: The comic builder website didn't work for me sadly. It directed me to the standard Lego broken link page. The instructions also shows some of the new 2011 space sets! The Minifigs Pretty standard police figures. The second thief seems to be a new torso print. Dog Comparison This has already been done but I can't help take a picture of the new dog anyways. It definitely made this set worth it. The police dog meets the fire dog from Fire Brigade. The ATV and ATM The ATV is a nice design. Simple yet effective. The ATM could use an improvement in my opinion. Its too simple and doesn't really pass off as an ATM; maybe a new ATM screen would help. The Complete Set Extra Parts Robbery in Progress Its the holiday season! These thieves are definitely taking advantage of the holiday spirit and picked their target accordingly. However, the police dog is tight on their tail! Ratings Minifigures: 9/10 - Even though most of the figures are from the 2008 series, its still a great collection. The dog definitely boost up the points here. Pieces: 8/10 - Comes with tons of new police parts. However, the rest of the pieces were pretty standard. Design: 8/10 - The ATV design is great! The ATM could use some work though. Playability: 10/10 - Very playable! The extra comic is a great imagination booster! 2 police officers, 2 thieves, a police dog, and an ATM. What more do you need? Price: 8/10 - Very good price for 4 minifigs and the new police dog. Overall: 8.5/10 This is my first review so I hope you all enjoyed it. Definitely a worthwhile set for all the new police parts! (dog, backpack, crowbar.) Must get for those hoping to boost their minifig collection!
  9. reviving an old thread here but I just got this today from Toys R Us Canada. Its currently on sale right now and a good $10 cheaper then the yellow version!
  10. Hi everyone, I'm in the planning stages of building a new ship and I was wondering what do you guys prefer for deck colour? From what I've seen, reddish brown and tan seems to be the standard, but there's an abundance of dark tan plates on bricklink these days at low prices and I'm leaning towards getting the dark tan cause of the cost. Anyone have any experience with this colour or pictures of ships with this deck colour? I personally don't have any bricks in dark tan so I'm just going off pictures I see online
  11. I've had very good experiences with expert's choice decal paper. I'm using an epson inkjet printer. Here are my steps: 1. print decal (use best photo quality setting and select glossy photo paper in the options menu) 2. Allow ink to dry and coat the decal paper with krylon clear coat. Wait for dry and re-coat again 3. When applying the decal, use cold water. Hot water ruins the decals and rubs the ink off 4. once decal is applied, gently press it with a soft tissue to get the excess water/air bubbles out 5. once the decal is dried, use a decal solution with a brush and brush over the edges to prevent curling 5. spray figure with krylon clear coat again. These are the guys who make the decal paper: http://www.bare-metal.com/Experts-Choice-Decal-Film.html
  12. Thanks for the feedback everyone! This was actually inspired from some Strike Witches cosplay costume attempts I saw from the past Anime Evolution. When I saw the contest theme, I couldn't resist doing this mod not a contest entry picture but a request I did for a user from an anime forum @sok117: It is a weird series but it allows for some interesting lego modifications
  13. that's some beautiful rigging! I love how realistic the interior details look!
  14. Theme: Strike Witches Character: Lieutenant Erica Hartmann Cost: $4.00 CAD including glue, paint, and paper. The most expensive parts were probably the white plume or the dark grey police hat Additional Images: Here Background Story Jessica is your typical 16 year old high school otaku. She follows new anime series religiously and can be found at every Anime Evolution convention. Every year, Jessica cosplays as her favorite character and spends hours in front of her computer researching and putting together the "perfect" costume. This year, Jessica is attending as her favourite character from the new Japanese anime series "Strike Witches." Strike Witches is an award winning military anime series set in an alternate timeline where witches fly in striker units (aircraft propulsion systems modified to attach to the user's legs) to defend the earth from an alien invasion. All the characters are based on famous world war 2 flying aces (more on the series HERE.) Being blond and sixteen, Jessica was naturally drawn to Lieutenant Erica Hartmann, a blond and 16 year old fighter ace from Karlsland. Jessica knows that if she can pull this costume off, she will definitely be the star of Anime Evolution 2010! After weeks of tedious ebay searching, she manages to acquire and modify an old German luftwaffe uniform to the right design. With her years of cosplay experiences, she skillfully modifies a pair of stilts into mock striker units. The one thing Jessica couldn't acquire due to her age was a replica mp40 machine gun. "Oh well," she thought, "this painted hand drill will have to do!" Vignette (Top: Jessica's dream of her apperance at Anime Evolution. Bottom: Jessica daydreaming/hard at work) Front Side Back Jessica is ready to attend the Anime Evolution Convention! Note: Minifig is made completely with Lego parts. For those not familiar with the series, HERE is the actual character. More pictures of the reference character can be found in my brickshelf as well! Also, series opening credits animation
  15. ahh yep its not really a custom meant of purists i guess. i personally don't prefer decals but theres no other way to do it. the only generic lego torso i can think of that COULD work is that bellville horse rider torso (Red with black collar or something), but I only have 1. also, i don't have any flesh colour pieces unfortunately. Thanks for all the replies!
  16. yup, i made the decal for my marching band in this thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17706 theres a bunch of other decals there like rank insignias and medals if you're into detail
  17. would this work for ya? Heres 2 different demos:
  18. great background story! reminds me of neg's urban sports from the channel 4 show balls of steel in the UK
  19. all the entries were great, which makes it very difficult to cast my vote. ultimately, i settled for the sets i would purchase if it were an official set.
  20. hmm technically it should be possible if you made sure you sealed up all the cracks and holes....but i wouldn't do that to my bsb
  21. those are some beautiful looking tanks! reminds me when my brother and i used to built RA units and battle with em when the RA series first came out
  22. i love how you have the holsters for the knives. ever thought about purchasing brickarms helmets? or are your special forces members too cool for helmets
  23. I use microsoft photo editor to do all my resizing. It was a free program that came with my office 2003 package. MS photo editor gives you a beautiful resize option before printing: Also, i like to save all my decal files in a .png format. its compatible with ms paint and photoshop and it preserves the colour information! (unlike .jpg files)
  24. seagulls would be a nice addition to the pirate theme...still, i voted toucans. fruit loops are great! seriously though, toucans would be great for any jungle theme MOCs and would probably look quite nice sitting next to a few parrots
  25. hey guys, thanks for the comments! I took your advice and did the thing with the drum sticks and it turned out REALLY well! Regarding the Side Drums, it was pretty much a guess and check process. Hopefully these pictures help you see what I did: The Bass Drum was done with some string: The sling for the sax was also pretty much guess and check: All the decals were done with double sided tape and going over the edges with another marker so its really easy to do! However, you need to play with the sizes a bit. With my printer, all the insignias and drum decals/Drum major sash was printed at 30% of the picture size and the uniforms and tiger skin was done at 0.59 Width. The medals were printed at 35% size. However, i think photobucket sized the images down a bit when i uploaded them so you'll probably have to figure out your own dimensions if you're interested in trying these decals! I can probably find somewhere to post up the decals in their original sizes if anyone is really interested in making their own band. Drum Major Decal: Bandsman Decal: Tiger Skin: Various Insignias: Drum Decals and Drum Major Sash: Various Medals: For the history fanatics out there, i put the regal cypher of Queen Victoria on my drums because this band was suppose to be for my imperial ship project (1850s-1900s). The medals are also from the same era I tried to get as much detail as I can into these figures.
