  1. Thanks everyone! I'm glad you like him Now just need to get around to finishing the others!
  2. Ok this is the first custom I've posted here, so here goes nothing... It's Wally (or Waldo, for Americans) from the Where's Wally books. I used paint, rather than decals, so the lines are not as clean as I would like The hat is epoxy putty, and the walking stick is a butchered spear. I am working on some of the other characters from the same books, so I may come back and add more pics!
  3. Wow I've missed some big reveals since I last checked for news on series 9! Definitely excited about the chicken suit guy! Did anyone else immediately think of the Family Guy chicken fights?
  4. I think the biggest problem with the Statue of Liberty set is the hat. The spikey crown is perhaps the most iconic part of the real statue's profile. Not sure how they could have recreated it with regular bricks though
  5. This is very cool. I keep going back to stare at it again and the scale is still messing with my head! I love the little nano block house
  6. It was Toyworld in Dunedin. I'm pretty sure they didn't have LOTR yet.
  7. Woo finally found series 8 in New Zealand today! Picked up the DJ and the Actor (love both his faces!) Will probably also be picking up at least one santa and maybe the diver. This is the most disappointing thing about this series for me too. None of the S8 female figs seem that exciting to me. Also only five female figs out of sixteen, and most of them are just rivals or female versions of previously released figs.
  8. Beautiful MOC! I love the cherry blossom tree, and the custom legs on the minifigures are very well done. Also very clever use of the green legs for the roof - that is exactly the kind of clever use of parts I would never have thought of!
  9. I think my overall favourite is the gorilla suit guy, but my favourite accessory is still the karate master's trophy (which got me collecting them in the first place!) I also love the clockwork robot, the kimono girl and the Aztec warrior (love his serious little face ) I really only collect the ones I like, but I make a point of collecting the ones with little lego references on them (like the minifig-shaped trophy, the design on the rapper's hat, the surgeon's x-ray, etc). Will definitely be getting the DJ from series 8, as well as the actor - when they finally come out here in NZ
  10. These are lovely What a fantastic way to display them all! I love the leprechaun's rainbow.
  11. Beautiful work! I love the Athena and the Charlie Chaplin. Did you make the fig in greyscale or is it photoshopped?
  12. Seems about right. I guess because I prefer non-violent lego. Was there a result for Town?
  13. Ha! I just spent several minutes on Brickipedia trying to ID this set! I think this was my first (non-Duplo) lego too! My first build-with-instructions set was probably 6592 Vacation Hideaway. It's been built and dismantled many times over the years...
  14. Interesting point about the peroxide stopping the plastic from yellowing. I would imagine any mild abrasive would work in place of the brasso. I have had success using Jif (another abrasive liquid used for cleaning) on an old washcloth. I hadn't heard of the eraser method before - will have to give it a try!
  15. IT'S BEEN ATTACKED BY A FLAMING SPIDER!
  16. Hello! New Zealand AFOL here. I guess I am most interested in minifigs and minifig customization, but I am also in awe of some of the MOCs I've seen here! I joined in the first place so I could more easily browse the forums... may be posting some of my minifig mods if I get brave enough
  17. Great review! I know I am late to the party but I am new here and have been browsing the old Paradisa reviews - so much nostalgia! . Just wanted to say that I specifically remember being annoyed by the lack of a baby in the pram as a kid playing with this set - I think I even improvised with a 1 x 1 round brick and a yellow 1 x 1 round tile! Years later I can finally put one of Citizen Brick's "Lego" babies in the pram! (It fits if you dismantle the pram to get it in there...) I feel it gives the pram a sense of legitimacy at last!
