The vest looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing the final product on the Bane minifigure.

Simple, yet pleasing to the eye at the same time. Fantastic work.

I've never seen any Star Trek before, but it's impossible not to know what that iconic ship is.... Outstanding work!

Do you buy 1 set to play with and 1 to keep sealed?
samiam391 replied to thegurumb's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Any sets I buy for myself, I open and don't keep for later. Some sets I do buy for re-sale, but when I buy them, it's in my mind that I'm going to keep these for re-sale and not to open. I do, however, buy duplicates a lot of the figures that I like, but that's always separate from buying the sets again themselves. -
Not quite Uruk, but I've just finished completing my army of the Nazgul, including a custom made Witch King. If someone can tell me how to make my picture a smaller number of pixels because of the error "This file was too big for upload", then I'd be happy to attach a photo of it.

Great droids! Love the different color schemes that each Astromech has in it's build.

Thank you all again so much! Your support, feedback, and comments mean a lot! Keep them coming! I've just finished work on my next Combine-Able Battlepack idea, Theeds Palace. This set draws from the scene in Episode One when the Theed Palace Guards rush through the hallways and up the stairs of the Palace, battling battle droids on their way to freeing the Queen. I'll put up some pictures tomorrow when the editing process is finished to show it's functions and combine-ability. Cheers, Sam -
LEGO LOTR / The Hobbit release dates and availability
samiam391 replied to Fives's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Sorry, I said that very confusingly. What I meant was it was a poster version of the actual movie's poster... re-made in LEGO format to appeal to the LEGO community. As a kind of encouragement and reminder for them to go see the movie. I wasn't referring to the release of a LEGO video game, board game, or any game whatsoever. Sorry, for the confusion. -

LEGO LOTR / The Hobbit release dates and availability
samiam391 replied to Fives's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think that date was in reference to the movie, a sort of advertisement for the actual Hobbit Movie in LEGO format for all the LEGO lovers that bought the sets. However, I think you are somewhat correct and that the Hobbit sets will be released sometime in December, along the lines and dates of the Winter Star Wars sets. Hopefully we'll get some pictures (leaks!) soon. -
Updated: [MOC/CUUSOO] Star Wars Combineable Battlepacks
samiam391 replied to samiam391's topic in LEGO Star Wars
If so, then that's fine. However, the whole point behind this design is so that people use the pieces they obtain in these sets to put them together to form one scene. I'm sure there would be a higher percentage of pieces used from the battlepacks today for mocs, then for these battlepacks. People would be more excited to make an actual scene from the movie with the pieces and instructions given, rather than just have a speeder bike to zoom around with for 15 minutes before it gets old. -

Thanks all! We surpassed 200 supporters today. So that's about 200 in 10 days. Please spread the word, and like/tweet on facebook/twitter. -
I love it! Just like many others, I'm a huge fan of that diagonal floor. Great use of different techniques to make it happen.

Personally, I'm a minifigure collector, especially in Star Wars. When I saw the LotR sets/figures, I just had to get them. Incredibly detailed, more so than any other past figures, and from on of my favorite movies, how could I resist? Thus I branched into another theme, and got them all. With the LotR theme, I definitely believe LEGO is attempting to reap in people like me (lover of figures) with incredibly detailed figures, while also appealing to the younger generations and making sets (lame in my opinion) with play-ability. However, even though I am a minifigure collector, I do appreciate good building (collector of UCS Star Wars sets), and definitely love building an iconic set and displaying it. Thus, with the LotR theme, LEGO is on a fine balance. It's not their normal type of theme... it has some blood and gore... some parents may not be to keen on it, etc.. yet they still have to make money with it (obviously) and retain this balance of appealing to two different generations. How do they do that? With iconic figures, and play-able sets. I'm definitely hoping for some UCS Minas Tirith, but will we see it? Probably not. Most likely we'll see a helm's deep rendition of Minas Tirith, making it play-able, but also coming with some incredible figures. So in this whole topic, you'll find both people. The one's that want the figures and battlepacks, and the ones that want the iconic scenes. There's going to be dis-agreement, and a whole lot of it.

What would it take for you to stop purchasing Lego?
samiam391 replied to Blackicep8ntball's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The thing for me is, besides the new UCS sets, I don't buy any of the new LEGO for myself anymore, only for re-sale. And that's very rarely. On eBay however, it's a different story, I consistently purchase all the old Star Wars minifigures on there. So basically, I'll probably never stop buying LEGO, as they can't change a product they've already re-leased. I guess, the only thing that would make me stop purchasing LEGO, is when I'm in my coffin six feet under ;-) -
In a period of victory after scoring a large lot of rare figures... to bad for my wallet that the period of ecstasy only lasts about 15 minutes...

Very nicely detailed, and quite comical. Love it!

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
samiam391 replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Personally, I never liked 8088 ARC Fighter.. Flimsy wings, poor construction, rubber bands. Sold that set right after I got it, no regrets. -
Picked up yesterday via trade: 1 CC Boba Fett 1 CC Lando 1 CC Leia 1 CC Luke 4 Greedos 3 Kashyyyk Troopers
