  1. do you test it with bridge? bridge "rails" a little wider so in my construction distance between wheels is 4.5 stoods.
  2. disagree. lego bricks sets long time was 3+, now 4+. creator was 4+, now 6+/7+. so lego clears 1-2 years from lego for duplo. and in 2013-2014 set we can see that duplo sets became more "constructional". cars from monolitic became consists from 4-5 pieces. and pieces became more universal.
  3. my first try to make duplo compatible train base from lego pieces.
  4. it still stop after 2 minutes, so not a big problem. afaik there are many "lift detector" malfunctions then train stops immediately after start, so lego decided remove it. sometimes a little force needed then you have a big train with about 10 wagons and 1st wagon must be with new hook. yes, I know. this was more "proof of concept" than really needed item. if you don't have rails — yes. but if you have — child put train on rails immediately after box unpacking. 1. yes. points, crossovers and possible — bridge are problem for car bases.2. there are many push-train sets with train bases, last one — [6144]. so I don't see any reason to use car base in push train set except price of course. 3. btw there is another un-understandable story for me with push-trains. all push-train in last ~10 years have originally reversed bases — movable hook is at backside. this is not a big problem for sets with train bases, you can put base in correct orientation and everything works, but for [10558] this trick doesn't work. but old sets like [2452] have correct direction. yes, duplo has only one scale for humans. but there are at least three types with minor differences:1. before 2004 year released ones. 2. after 2004 year type 1. possible produced in hungary. 3. after 2004 year type 2. possible produced in china. old ones looks like don't have serious bugs. new womens have a big hairs, so they can't look forward in all duplo cars. also type 2 humans better fits into animals or old style motorcycle passenger place.
  5. there are two editions of [5608] and [5609] sets. 2008 year version has locomotive with yellow transparent button and stop feature. 2012 year version has new instruction with removed "For safety reasons, the train will also stop if lifted.", new locomotive with green button that not stop then lifted or hit obstacle and new 5-section fence :)[10507] and [10508] sets also have locomotives with green button but in instruction yellow button mentioned instead. also some information about wagon bases. each base has movable hook and non-movable hitch (hope I use correct words). currently I have 17 bases, oldest one from 2000 year set and newest one from 2012 year set. there are 3 different generations of wagon bases: 1. 2000-2006 years. there is no membrane between hitch and base and hook has opening with big diameter that allow simply connect two bases over hitch top. 2. 2007-2010 years. membrane between hitch and base added. looks like lego modified old molds as still duplo written in stoods. 3. 2012-current time. hook opening has smaller diameter as can be seen at picture: old one at left and new at right. and there is impossible now connect bases over hitch top. I'm not sure that hook better but as I own both ones it cause some problems for my son. also i did 90° track crossover using system bricks: fotos and video. ps: and I hate lego for [10558] set. why they made train set with non-train bases?
