  3. Do you guys have a email registry or someway to keep track?. I have no plans on returning just yet as it always comes down to work these days (life was so much simpler as a kid). But would love to stay up to date with both groups you mentioned on events in the chance that I'm in melbourne during the time of an event. I've sent a blank email to mugs-list-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.au but no go. :/
  4. Name: Tim From: Melbourne Australia Currently: working in Shanghai for the last 6mth, and 7 years in Tokyo. New to the forum, loved and still love the lego trains, had a few given to me as gifts when I was young. Just recently I purchased the Maersk train for sh**s n giggles and my addiction is about start growing (yikes). after finding EB and railbricks magazine, i cannot believe how far lego trains have come since the 80-90's. I see a lot of MOC? that look amazing, and even the standard sets such as Sante Fe, Maersk, emerald etc. Although I have no idea when I'll be back in Melbourne for good, I have decided to buy a few peices of lego every now and then for when I do finally get back to Melbourne: Wishlist 7823 Container Loading Crane (tuffest crane set ever and can be customized to span from trac -> road - > harbour. 9v tracks parts for a MOC bridge (there is a twin yellow bridge made from technic parts floating around on the internet, something along the lines of that but much smaller scale and in gray) My collection includes: Trains: 7715 Push-along train 7722 Battery Train Set 4551 Crocodile Engine 4558 Metroliner Cars: 4536 blue hopper car 4537 twin tank transport 4543 tractor flatbed (would love to get another 2/3 of these 4544 Car transport wagon 4547 railroad club for the metroliner 4549 Road 'N Rail Hauler 4552 Cargo Crane 4554 Metro Station 4555 Freight Loading Station 4539 level crossing x2 Look forward to participating in the train forums with you train nuts!
  5. Well well well, stumbled across this forum and thought I should put up my first post as did everyone else. From Melbourne Australia, been living in Tokyo for the last 7 years and Shanghai for the last 6months. Into lego since god knows how old i was, family used to bring back the big sets for me from Poland when ever they visited. Is it a sin to have been more excited at which lego i received than the prospect of relatives coming back/visiting?. lol I realized I just cant get away from two of my long time passions, surfing and Lego. I stopped sometime in the 90's because I remember the blocks got really stupid, one piece was half the set, took out a lot of the fun, the cars, the trains, the planes... ohh to this day I'm not a fan of the planes being so round (bring back the 80's/early 90's block planes please :)) Since I got to Tokyo, i have always been pulled into lego stores when i saw the sign, seeing whats new on the shelfs these days without any interest in buying until last year I pulled out that wallet and purchased my my first set the maersk train. I havnt bought any since then, the box is sitting at home in Melbourne. Last 2/3months I've been going through bricklink and have my eyes on a few parts, and considering putting together a bridge(moc style)/harbour(sticky tape a few sets together lol), more 9v tracks and populate my town for when I head back to melbourne. Its so much easier at this age to buy lego than it was to ask for lego at a young age, I'm just worried I'll get too addicted and spend all my money on lego :(. if you've read this far into my boring intro, Hi!. I do have about 10 images from a table I had set up with lego in my garage, nothing special, just standard sets. I took these photos in 1997 seconds before mum and I packed them carefully into boxes. But im sure nostalgia will kick in for some. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/boomclosed.JPG https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/cargo%20station.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/lego%20city.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/lego%20city%201.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/lego%20city%202.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/lego%20city%203.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/lego%20ctiy%204.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/lego%20destination.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/lego%20postman.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/Lego%20Try.JPG https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/legoman.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/PIC00033.JPG https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/PIC00035.JPG https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/PIC00037.JPG https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/Pic00038.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/Pic00039.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/PIC00041.JPG https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/Pic00046.jpg https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/PIC00047.JPG https://dl.dropbox.com/u/149358/Lego/PIC00048.JPG Some themes I was into that I didnt take photos off: System Pirates robinhood western space, mtron, the white space set with with monorail, and the orange ones which I cant remmeber Some technic and my favorite was the harbour/train sets. I often got bored of maing broom broom sounds while pushing cars through town, so just sitting back and watching the train go around was great.... oh sitting around making the train wheels spin out of control was great :) I know once I'll eventually make it back home and will re-built a great city, something my kids will hopefully love.... if not, i'll just assume they do and keep buying for myself :) Look forward to participating in these forums :)
