  1. Here's a nice little discovery I made with google: Google "Lord of the Rings toys" and see what comes up 4th position. Better yet, just google "Lord of the Rings" and see what comes up 6th !!!
  2. My local Walmart had four: Gandalf, Shelob, Uruk-Hai army, and Weathertop. Bought Gandalf and Shelob, almost bought Uruk-Hai, and I refuse to buy Weathertop at that ridiculous $75 price tag. Toys R Us Canada still doesn't have any LOTR sets.
  3. Yup, and that's a Turnip in there! Obviously, the carrot that came in the set was too tall, so I had to get creative... Someone on the BrickLink forum came up with the perfect caption: "Screw that walking to Mordor crap, we're riding in style... "
  4. Thanks. Took me about 20 minutes
  5. Thanks! For more of my ridiculously tiny and 'cute' MOCs... see the Castle/Lord of the Rings forum, "Frodo's Wooden Race Car"
  6. V-LI-06E Nothing much to it, but it's motorized by a small 9V red micromotor. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=50583
  7. Made this in 2003 with the only Harry Potter set I own: 4702 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=61571
  8. Here is my first LOTR creation: Frodo's wooden race car! Consists only of parts from one 9469 set. Back when they were even smaller hobbits, Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin would construct wooden cars to pass the time. Then they would race each other down a steep hill, only to crash into some tree or big rock and eventually having to rebuild their cars over and over again. A great way to deliver those fresh turnips across Hobbiton! Sorry for the poor quality, I only have a crummy Quickcam at the moment. I used most of the cart's pieces; only 8 remain. (.. plus Gandalf and the horse)
  9. Saruman, Eowyn, Galadriel, Elrond, old Bilbo, Arwen, Wormtongue, and Gothmog! (the uber-ugly orc general of Part 3) Seriously though, they're all awesome. Lego went all out with this.
  10. So many times new lego TECHNIC elements fall under the radar because they aren't included in any actual Technic sets...
  11. You're welcome. Yeah, no kidding. Especially when compared to... http://www.thedailybrick.co.uk/wp/gallery/lego-friends-summer-2012-sets/lego-friends-3184-adventure-rv.jpg
  12. I was browsing at Brickshelf and found some pics of Lego clone brands. In an alternate reality, this is how Friends might have turned out if Lego stuck with minifigs and went for a more Princess-ey Belville design. Those designs must be original since they don't look like any Paradisa or Belville sets I have seen.
  13. Technic + Castle! Awesome
  14. Hey, isn't it Stephanie from Friends inside the biodome?
  15. Bump Any info at all on the 8889 super truck? Sorry for being annoying but I've been dying to build this for 10 years 8889 relevant pages: http://belay.peeron.com/scans/8889-1/38/ http://belay.peeron.com/scans/8889-1/39/ http://belay.peeron.com/scans/8889-1/40/ http://belay.peeron.com/scans/8889-1/41/ From "disley"'s brickshelf gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=237779
  16. Beautiful MOCs posted so far here... keep going guys
  17. What are your favorite MOCs that best combine the Technic and Town/City themes? They are far less common than pure technic or pure town. They tend do be either of these two: - Large minifig scaled technic creations (I've seen quite a few crawler cranes like this over the years - the 8288 could also be considered minifig scale) - Incorporation of mechanics in town/train layouts and buildings.

  19. It's Haldir, not Legolas. Legolas is exclusive to the Mines of Moria set. Otherwise, I fully agree with your post. By the way, as some people said, this is arguably the largest castle Lego has produced. I don't know, but I am most definitely certain that this is the first Lego castle to contain not one, but TWO kings in it.
  20. You're from New Zealand? LOTR toys are probably hugely popular where you live, right?
  21. Great work! Would be a great idea for a UCS Lord of the Ring set :)
  22. Is that blood an official Lego piece? If so, Bricklink reference# please?
  23. Wow, those are full of very informative posts. Thanks!
  24. Was it the first one, Fellowship of the Rings? I went there with a friend who (unlike me) had never read the book, and he was completely bored, like you, but his whole attitude changed when the 2nd movie came out, and he loved it. Same for the 3rd movie. Now, in retrospect, he enjoys the story as a whole for what it is, but still says that the first movie was WAY too slow. He does have a point. So in my opinion, you need to give the movies another chance.
