  1. Thanks for the "awesome," ianmrid! Love the take on Xavin. I've been trying to figure that one out and I love your solution.
  2. @LibraryBoy - LOVE the Mythbusters! I made History Channel's American Pickers a while back because my wife is addicted to the show. Mike and Frank surrounded by rusty gold... The guys and Danielle... After making them, I had the odd idea of sending them to visit Watto's junk shop on Tatooine and did a comic strip (http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/305216).
  3. Nicely done! I had the same thought when I put together that TMNT set, only I was just going to stick a little alien clinger inside. It's the perfect little build for the AC theme. I look forward to seeing more builds from you. AC is definitely my favorite original LEGO theme and I've done a number of MOCs myself.
  4. When you said that I was thinking Galactus or a Sentinel. You certainly didn't disappoint. Nice work as usual!
  5. The older version of Julie Power a.k.a. Lightspeed...
  6. I think the one thing that made the original (and by far the best) film superior to its sequels was the fact that the dinos were treated as animals NOT as monsters. There were also scenes in which the dinos were appreciated for their majesty and beauty. If the fourth film can recapture that mentality as well as bring something new to the franchise, then it'll be an interesting film. I'll be in line to see it, regardless. I just hope it's worth the wait (it's been a long time).
  7. Wow, I wasn't aware there were so many of us Badgers on the forum. Welcome Repeter!
  8. LOVE the Squirrel Girl! And I've just been thinking about Awesome Android myself (after reading a ROM issue with him and the Mad Thinker in it). Nice work as usual!
  9. Is he? I think I've seen all the episodes but I don't remember this Dark Ninja character... If he is Rad Brad, that would make sense. The head for Rad Brad is from Thor and Xever is Captain Panaka. I just threw a simple plain torso on Xever. I'm sure there is something better out there. I wasn't a fan of my Rad Brad hair so I changed it. I think this one is a better match...
  10. Another couple of purist TMNT minifigs... Rad Brad and Xever before their mutations...
  11. Just a quick purist TMNT fig... the new version of Rat King... Not sure about the plain black torso and the ratty cape (pun not intended) but they were what I had on hand. Cad Bane's hat would be perfect but it only comes in brown.
  12. Don't forget Harry Potter in his swimsuit from Goblet of Fire... Also wanted to give a shout out to ROM (and the purist customs of him). I love that book.
  13. Just a note that you've got the small set of train wheels on the wrong end of the vehicle. Also, what are your impressions of the stability of the Shellraiser model? I was not impressed when I'd finished building mine.
  14. Just wanted to share my thoughts on the sets I've built this far (I'm writing as someone who grew up with the original cartoon and toys and is really enjoying the new series). Kraang Lab Escape - Nice little set. Nothing mind-blowing but nothing disappointing either. The Kraang character is a neat little piece similar to the "clingers" from Alien Conquest (can be placed over a minifig's head). In fact, the little walker vehicle thing would fit in perfect with the AC sets. Solid set. Stealth Shell Pursuit - Another nice little set. Fishface is a great minifig, well sculpted and show accurate. The boat he pilots is nothing to write home about but a solid vehicle nonetheless. The stealth shell itself is a cool design. It's very, very similar to Batman's tumbler, kind of a mini version. The turtle driver (Raph is included) has to lay down to drive, but there are clips for his weapons (something that this line seems to be good about). Shredder's Dragon Bike -The only reason to get this set is the Shredder minifig. The bike is ridiculously huge and seems unfinished. I cannot understand why the designer chose to attach the "head" of the bike the way he/she did. The area where Shredder sits seems very bare and unadorned (the Kraang vehicle gets two printed dial tiles in its cockpit but nothing for this bike). I built the model and then tore it down again in less than one hour, I was that unimpressed with it. Donnie and his skateboard are fine, and would make for a nice polybag set, but don't save the set. But the Shredder minifig is top notch. Shellraiser Street Chase - Most disappointing set I've ever purchased in terms of construction stability and I REALLY wanted to like this set. I really did. I was so looking forward to building it (I built it after building the other three listed above). This thing is primed to implode. If a vehicle is designed to open at the sides and have a removable roof it needs to be solid in all other areas to support this and the Shellraiser most definitely isn't. Any kid playing with this will cry, throw it across the room in frustration or both. It looks great, so it's a great set for display but any play will result in sides collapsing and/or becoming detached from the base. The wheels are not easy to move up and down because there really isn't anywhere to safely grip the vehicle to get the necessary leverage (again, implosion may occur). On the positive side, the little pizza delivery truck is a nice build, simple but has some great decals. And Dogpound is THE BOMB. He is an excellent minifig that is wonderfully show-accurate and detailed (and yes, he has a tail). All in all, as a big fan of the new show, I think the sets are worth it for the excellent minifigs. Not all the models live up to the high expectations I have for LEGO products though. Just wanted to share my thoughts for those who may be considering these sets. ( And, by the way, the turtle minifigs are all excellent as well.)
  15. Great attempt at Iron Lad. I wouldn't have thought of that combo and it's about as close as one can get with current elements. I've been thinking the same thing about Patriot. His head just isn't purist possible at this point. I'd really like a Kate Bishop Hawkeye but haven't been able to figure that one out either. Great minds think alike! Your Wiccan looks very similar to the designs I tried. I tried a couple of different hair pieces (I don't have the one you've used) and tried a variety of torsos (including Thor's) but just wasn't happy with it. Partly, I didn't like the way the bandana worked with the cape (I had the bandana facing the other way) and he didn't have a head band (I thought about the Batman head but didn't like the white headband). I even tried using the new printed Imperial head since Wiccan kind of has a head glove thing going on, but the expression on that face is just not right. Great work on the other figs, too!
  16. Thanks! If you have any ideas for the other Young Avengers I'd love to see them. I tried making Wiccan, but it just didn't look right. It's the Gray Ghost torso from the Speed Racer theme.
  17. Utterly amazing stuff all around! I remember the cartoon fondly myself and these wonderful MOCs have me singing the theme song. Great work!
  18. One of my favorite films of all time, too! These look great. I really like the Jeep. It is spot on. Great work on these!
  19. Here's Hulkling from the Young Avengers...
  20. As the B-wing is my favorite OT ship, I definitely love this. Great work!
  21. Very nicely done! Definitely not one of my favorite characters but I've always liked the design of the robot mode (apart from his mess of a head). Great job at capturing that distinct Bayformer aesthetic.
  22. Thanks, The-Hulk! If you have any brilliant ideas for the members I'm missing, I'd love to hear them. I so badly want to do a Molly minifig but her penchant for animal hats has me stumped. Likewise, there's no head for Xavin in her human female guise, or the right hair for Gert. I guess Klara could be easily done because she's so nondescript.
  23. An Ant-Man teaser scene may be included in credits of "Iron Man 3".... I for one am all for any future Marvel movie goodness. I'll be eagerly looking forward to all the titles announced so far.
  24. I've also never been a Superman fan. He does seem almost too perfect and, in my opinion, too old fashioned. The concept of a "super man" was probably appealing back when he first appeared, but I don't think the concept has aged well. The last film (Superman Returns) was dull and forgettable. That being said, I'm keeping an open mind about the upcoming movie. If anyone can revitalize a character and remove the bad taste of previous films from your mouth, it's Nolan & Co.
  25. Personally, I'm a fan of "Willow." Maybe I just have a sense of childhood nostalgia for it, but I still enjoy it. If you want to say that George copied anyone when he made "Willow," he copied himself... Willow is Luke, the hero and a farmer who dreams of something more, eventually becoming a sorcerer (Jedi). Madmartigan is Han Solo, a rogue of questionable loyalty who ends up joining the cause. The High Aldwyn is Obi-Wan Kenobi, an old, bearded sorcerer who sends the hero on his journey. Fin Raziel is Yoda, a powerful sorcerer (who appears to be anything but) who is banished to a distant location and is sought out by our hero for further training. Rool and Franjean (the Brownies) are RD-D2 and C-3PO respectively. They accompany the hero on his journey, act as comic relief, and one of which is a know-it-all who is often exasperated with his companion. Sorsha is Leia, a tough princess who has an initially antagonistic relationship with the rogue which turns into romance. As for the villains, there's a powerful evil sorcerer (Bavmorda/Palpatine) with a right-hand man who is tall, carries a sword, wears a cape and a scary mask (Kael/Vader).
