  1. Wow, a strong entry! All those industrial contraptions look like they've been a lot of work to accomplish. Looks very realistic and forbidding at the same time (the worker seems to be happy to work there, though. Maybe a numbing side effect of the substances). The dramatically outstretched hand of the man who is about to become the Joker nailed the whole scene. Good job!
  2. Great display of the famous scene! That's a creepy industrial facility, just like "Axis Chemicals" (or any facility in creepy Gotham) has to be. I love the little details like the cabinet with the protection suit. Good work!
  3. Wow, what a great scene! You totally nailed the character of Joker's crime-style. I love the GCB facade. Nice mix of techniques with a good eye for arrangement. Very good entry!
  4. Hah, great idea! Looks cozy and very stylish furnished (perfect for an english gentlemen like Alfred). Nice that you thought of an cellar level. Good build!
  5. Is it legal to write short comments to each of the eight possible pictures of the MOC? Like, "Look's like the GCPD is in trouble here! But what's over there?" or "Black Mask's impatience with a henchman who screwed up a job is no secret. This poor fellow will have to pay and he knows it..."? Great contest, btw, very generous prizes, thanks for that! This will hopefully motivate quite a lot of entries, and I love to see Batman MOCs. I'm one of those lucky AFOLs, that managed to get the Batman Sets before the prices skyrocketed out of the atmosphere, but still another set of my favourite theme would be great (not that I hope to score anywhere near the top, but I'll take a shot nonetheless for the sheer fun of a Batman contest). That's enough to haul me back out of my building hiatus!
  6. Anybody interested in that series?: PENGUIN: PAIN AND PREJUDICE Written by GREGG HURWITZ; Art and cover by SZYMON KUDRANSKI In the third issue of best-selling novelist Gregg Hurwitz's PENGUIN: PAIN AND PREJUDICE miniseries, the Penguin has a new girlfriend! But his new relationship is just an excuse for bigger heists and more vicious crimes, all to obtain gifts for his loved ones! And the flashier the crime, the more easily it catches Batman's eye. With The Dark Knight hot on his trail, will the Penguin back away from his life of crime – or will he continue his push to take over Gotham City's criminal underworld? Looks interesting enough for me. I've always enjoyed stories from a villain's point of view...
  7. Very characterful creation with a spot on grasp for the right perspective. I would love to see more of "your" Gotham. Keep up the good work!
  8. Well, as I said before, I've found my way back to the world of super-hero-comics some months ago, after a break of about 16 years (I was a young kid, the last time I've collected comics), and I focused my primary attention on the DC-Universe (especially Batman). Maybe that's why I'm still excited and more readily accepting when it comes to "new" comics or stories, but I still think the artists and writers of the last issues I've read did a good job regarding the purpose of The New 52 series - relaunching or rather presenting favourite characters for a broader spectrum of readers (and to make it easier for new readers to get to know those heroes/villains). There has to happen old and traditional stuff, otherwise those characters would lose their, well, character. I want stories of my favourite heroes/villains where I discover familiar things going on etc. I really enjoyed Justice League #1, Jim Lee's artwork, the scenario *SPOILER* (superheroes are relatively new, perceived as dangerous and are hunted by the authorities), the bitching and verbal dispute between Batman and Green Lantern (very enjoyable) etc. *SPOILER END*. I'm still waiting for my issue of Batwoman #1, but the reviews of the artwork are throughout good (allthough the story is reputed to be a little bit muddleheaded), so I'm curious. I can't say much about Hawk & Dove, I've just read some reviews (and Rob Liefelds art is critized almost everytime). They don't interest me much. I plan to stick mostly to the Bat-Family (and maybe "Justice League" and "Action Comics" - I really liked that version of Superman). So far, I'm pleased with this "DC - pseudo - relaunch"...
  9. Hmm, can't say I share that opinion. So far I've read Justice League #1, Action Comics #1, Detective Comics #1, Batman & Robin #1, Suicide Squad #1, Batman #1, Birds of Prey #1, Catwoman #1, Nightwing #1 and Red Hood and the Outlaws #1. With the exception of "Suicide Squad" (which was more or less ok) I really enjoyed those comics. Batman #1 in particluar captures a lot of Batman's dark detective persona, mixed with dark humor and the harsh and frightening world of Gotham City. A good start. I don't know which comics of this series you've read, and I'm sorry you didn't like them (it's always annoying to pay good money for something that turns out disappointing), but I agree that this "segmented" form of storytelling is tedious. I really wish for new (completed) stories in one book. But it's still not fair to condemn all new "52's" (I still haven't read the rest and I probably won't). So far I'm hooked and plan to follow those series I've started with...
  10. Nothing new, but I found a pic of Pinguin from the "Arkham City" comic series (the comic for the game) that looks pretty badass (bottle-monocle or not). Maybe the hat creates a more imposing style (so far, the decorative headware is missing in the game version of Pinguin).
  11. "Arkham Asylum: Serious House on Serious Earth" was an interesting setting - strange, creepy, ugly and dark, like a nightmare. I enjoyed it, but not in a way I enjoyed more "classical" or "canonical" Batman stories. For my plan to catch up with the latest development of the Batman setting I used this list of comics (modern Batman) for waypoints: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Batman_comics#Modern_Batman In no way I succeded in collecting all required comics to complete that list (and I don't want to - the monetary aspect alone prevents any possible intention), but I tried to complete those series out there, that where deemed as "milestones" by the fanbase (Knightfall, No Man's Land, Hush etc.). Hard enough. So long, I'm not disappointed. Batman Incorporated on the other hand... Well, I still have to delve into that... And, yes, Batman TAS is a great favourite of mine, too!
  12. Good! Perfect timing for me... After a comic-hiatus of about two decades I recently found my way back to the world of DC, especially the adventures of Batman. Well, I was a little bit overwhelmed trying to catch up with all the stuff and character development that happened (No Man's Land, Hush, Batman R.I.P., The Return of Bruce Wayne and much, much more - including Red Robin, the new Batgirl Steph Brown etc.). Next, I will follow the "Batman Incorporated" series. So, what do you think about Bruce Waynes taking his war on crime to the next level, by essentially "franchising" it and drafting, training and commanding a global team of heroes who will answer to Batman himself? At first, I didn't like this new form of "global Batman" at all. Batman, the character of this fear infusing superhero, is some sort of loner (yes, I know there is/are Robin/s, Nightwing etc.), a mystery and one of a kind. I liked him that way. I'll see what I think about it after delving in this new (for me, anyway) series...
  13. Well, in the first game they showed a picture of you with classic flair: I don't think there will be a "monster pinguin"...
  14. That's a beautiful scene, the cloud city design is very well executed, great angle of view. I eagerly anticipate the rest of your work... Thanks for sharing this with us!
  15. Great scene, full of details and interesting characters! The starship is strangely beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with us!
  16. Thanks for the nice feedback! @Stauder I didn't count the parts, about 300, I guess, but I'll transfer this MOC into MLCad, so later I'll got the exact count. There exists no exact archetype for this shuttle, I made the Corellian Herald Class Shuttle up. After twiddling a little with the front, the rest of the ship was build without a plan in one afternoon. It was fun. As Natman800 & Future74 allready pointed out, the ship looks a little bit like Bossk's ship, the Hound's Tooth (so I realized, too), and I had the idea, that my bounty huntress could fly a ship of trandoshan manufacture. Wookipedia told me, that the Hound's Tooth was a modified Corellian Engineering Corporation YV-666 light freighter (no Trandoshans were involved at all, and the Artemis appeared to be a corellian design look-alike), so I came up with a corellian name and the background for the huntress. Thanks for the interest.
  17. Bounty Hunter: Nyo Zen Nyo Zen is the daughter of Nyron Zen, head of ZenTech, a corporation that separated from InCom and specialized in weapon- and starship development. Nyo left the safe and luxurious environment she was born in and chose to the life of a bounty hunter. She wasn’t interested in credits, her sole allure centered on the thrill of hunting and killing the most dangerous scum in the galaxy. What started as some sort of amusement soon became keen obsession, as Nyo discovered that she was good in what she did. Trained in martial arts of dozen different worlds, equipped with the finest custom weapons (two unique light blasters and a vibro blade) and gifted with an exceptional intellect, the biggest obstacles the young bounty hunter has to face are her own arrogance and overconfidence. Ship: Modified ‘Herald Class’ Corellian Shuttle “The Artemis” The Artemis is a heavily modified shuttle of the ‘Herald Class’. Though it definitely lacks elegance, Nyo provided the Artemis with extra armor and weaponry (two dual and one quad laser cannon at the sides, one ion cannon and a tractor beamer at the front) and strong engines to keep manoeuvrability. High end sensor tech and a ray shielded prisoner compartment in the back complete the equipment.
  18. Fantastic work! Awe inspiring. One could imagine, why the AT-AT was supposed to break through enemy opposition, carrying squads of imperial troopers and light vehicles, when looking at your model. Great job!
  19. Great MOD! Maybe I'm one of the few people who actually like the twilight and its awkward, asymmetrical design (always had a soft spot for old and scruffy looking ships). Your mods (especially the greebs on the engine, the extra tiles, the extra engine) emphasize the character of that ship. The floor in the cargo area is good, wasted space would be shame. Now every part of the ship has a function.
  20. Thanks for the feedback, folks! I appreciate every piece of advice. The pic quality is the best I managed to get out of my prehistoric digital cam in conjunction with my amateur photo skills. Maybe I could use some more neutral backgrounds (without that bluish stuff). I'll try to build a connection between the three rooms within the freighter (I need to rearrange mostly some things in the engine area), maybe an opening just big enough for a minifig to pass through, but I need to keep the stability of the whole MOC in mind. The freighter was build in three seperate sections that were connected after completion with technic pins and some tiles. I'll see what I can do. For the landing space of the Banshee I simply used four rounded bottom dishes under the central underside, so, yes, the starfighter lands on its "belly". :) I used some retractable landing gear during the first building process, but was unsatisfied with the result. The ship stands pretty stable on its center, so the round dishes replace other possible landing gear (many StarWars Sets have vehicle that use the dishes like that). Well, the last fighter was build out of spare parts out of my first spare parts (as I said, I need more parts). After using the equivalent of both Wookie sets and two B-Wing sets for the creation of the first two MOCs, there wasn't much left, but, yes, the orange hemisphere was a change of style. Maybe I'll rework the whole thing. Again, thanks for the feedback (every opinion is welcome). Thanks for the interest!
  21. Hi! I wanted to build some random ships for a spaceport or hangar scene somewhere in the galaxy. I planned to create two or three non-iconic freighter-type ships, but ended with two starfighters and only one freighter (I need more spare parts). Anyway, here are the results (comments & tips are welcome ): First the heavier starfighter, the Corellian Banshee, with a crew of three bounty hunters: Somewhat bulky but heavily armed (with a quad-laser- and ion cannon) Front Top Side Rear I like roomy cockpits with lots of space to stash equipment (well, weapons in case of these bounty hunters). Empty cockpit Now the whole crew is on board, ready to hunt the scum of the galaxy! Crew shot! Second I build the light freighter, SoroSuub 3X-Vassal, a smuggler ship: Front (with extended landing gear) Top Side Back Cockpit Cargo hold (look, coloured random barrels!) Engine room The engineer on duty Crew shot For the third ship I had some small mean pirate attack fighter in mind. Here is the Parasite: The basic design is nothing new, but that red hemisphere has the evil look I wanted. Front Side Open cockpit Crew shot So, after building three starships I needed to do something other... Stormtrooper Dave was sleeping and again that recurring nightmare plagued his dreams. Inspection day on the Death Star and he forgot something important... Thanks for the interest! Vimes
  22. Cool bike MOCs, especially the design of swoop bike (and its primary functions). Scythe lightsaber? Interesting... I like it. Good job!
  23. I restarted collecting Lego in 1999, when the first Star Wars Sets hit the shelves, and was fine with that. Later the Batman and some City sets joined my collection. I always liked the Castle and Pirate themes, but next to the need for money there is a need for time and room for all the collections, and THAT are the real problems. If you have enough money, time and room, then go on and collect every Lego you want, and why not?
  24. I really like the Scarecrow - the face, the hat, the story behind the villain - so, Scarecrow it is...
  25. Isn't the Batsled some sort of an oversized snowmobile? Ok, it runs on skids and there are no crawler tracks, but it was made for snow, wasn't it? Anyway, I, too, think it's a little bit odd, that at the time when the Batman Video Game hit the shelves, nearly none of the Lego Batman products could be bought anymore (and the whole line now seems to be discontinued, but who knows for sure). The game refreshed the interest in Lego Batman, so it looks like bad timing for me...
