  1. @The Penguin I just finished the last two issues of the Penguin-PaP Mini-Series and hate to agree with the shrinking quality. I really liked the beginning of the series, the characterization of Penguin, his dark family roots and, yes, even his psychotic persona, the alternate view on "the Dark Knight" and Gothams society. Then the story took a more and more irrational turn, incorporating (IMO) unfitting "Silver Age" elements (aforementioned technological, penguin-styled wonder weapons etc.) culminating in a rather forseeable and therefore disappointing climax. I would give the whole series 3 out of 5 points.
  2. That's exactly how Bane started within the Batman Universe and therefore perfectly fitting (look at his origin story pre-Knightfall)). @Batbrick
  3. Well, it took some time to complete my collection of the "Cataclysm, No Man's Land and New Gotham" series. It isn't necessary to read the books of the "Catacylsm" series (or "New Gotham") to enjoy "No Man's Land". The whole series is a mix of writers and artists and therefore of fluctuating quality. I've used this list as orientation when I tried to get back into the "Batman Universe", but it's nearly impossible to collect and read every comic on that list (and also not necessary, some of the books are really bad). I can't say anything about the new edition of "No Man's Land", I think it is just a complete collection of all comics of that series and nothing new. With DC's "New 52" it's questionable if "No Man's Land" is still canon (for those who care about that). I'm pleased with the new start of the Bat and can recommend the new "Batman", "Detective Comics" and "Batman and Robin" series.
  4. The Penguin gets a lot of attention recently. Did anyone follow the current mini-series "Penguin - Pain and Predjudice"? http://dccomics.com/dcu/comics/?cm=20945 I'm really blown away by that series. Oswald Cobblepot is distinguished as a loving son and heartbreakingly mistreated child who grows up to become one of the most feared and unbelievable cruel crime lords of Gotham - the Penguin. I felt reminded of "The Killing Joke" where Joker's tragic past creates some sort of sympathy for the monstrous villain. In PPaP the reader can't help but feel a little bit sorry for Penguin, allthough he is depicted as a truly terrifying character, more terrifying indeed, than the Joker ever was (in my opinion, anyway). Quite an accomplishment. Now to the recent issue if the new "Detective Comics" series: In the new "Detective Comics" series Batman still is quite at the beginning of his crime fighting career (and hunted by the authorities) and The Penguin enters the stage of Gotham for the first time, opening the "Iceberg Casino" - take a look at the new "Lounge": Sydney, anyone? Quite a bastion, built within Gotham harbor. I don't know yet if I like the new look of Penguins headquarter, it's way bigger than all previous versions seen in different comics, but it's beyond dispute imposing. So far, I'm thrilled to see how other traditional Bat villains will be presented. At the moment the Penguin is the most interesting in the whole Batman universe...
  5. At least someone at DC Comics thought so...
  6. Pirate Batman! Sorry, couldn't resist...
  7. Well said! And outrages! In comparison to those necessary story elements that "nipples" seem way out of place! I thoroughly enjoyed Burtons movies, but I'm also ok with Nolans take on the Bat franchise. It's just another interpretation of the character (multiple interpretations of Batman seem to be a tradition), and, hands down, there have been worse ones: http://www.cracked.com/article_19537_the-7-stupidest-attempts-to-reinvent-batman.html
  8. My son and I play with it. He has build some buildings of his own to create Gotham City. The tower is an evil headquarter. I think it'll stay at last till christmas (when pirates wait under the christmas tree)...
  9. Gongratulations to the well deserved winners!
  10. 4) Joker makes a withdrawal... (Build by TooMuchCaffeine) : 1 point 6) Batman Returns (1992 Burton) (Build by lego-maniac) : 1 point 11) The Dark knight! (Build by Skrytsson) : 1 point I really enjoyed this contest. Amazing entries!
  11. 3) The Horrible Henchman's Hopeless Home (Build by BeKindRewind) : 1 point 5) Cat Burglar (Build by Darkblane) : 1 point 11) Croc’s sewer (Build by Skrytsson) : 1 point Great entries, great contest!
  12. I always liked harbor scenes and there is a lot to see in your MOC (Ra's al Ghul is one of my favourite Batman villains). I would've liked to see more of the interior of the building (or a better shot a the Red Hood), but your MOC is fun to look at nonetheless. It's like the climax of an epic story...
  13. I'm not a big fan of an alternate Batman setting (like BOTF), but your MOC is totally cool and within your chosen context very well done.
  14. An important scene of Nolan's "Batman Trilogy", and you did very well. The hall looks elegant and the fire rages in chaotic anger. Maybe some pieces of burning furniture would have been great to fill the seemingly empty inferno, but the atmosphere of the MOC is spot on nonetheless. Good job!
  15. I love your entry! Funny, absurd and heroic - that's how Lego Batman should be (and with stylish vehicles for the heroes and the villains - Penguin's balloon is great and pure fun). You've created several different stories for us to discover and to follow. Well done!
  16. What? Only two replies yet? That's a good MOC, clean, well designed and fitting - and Red Robins bike is just great!
  17. That is such a wonderful MOC, it's really fun to look at it, to discover the details and enjoy the atmosphere. Very impressive work, thanks for sharing it with us!
  18. Very impressive! To create a good and cool looking batmobile is hard enough (and that's a great batmobile, btw), but for a combination of two cool looking, transforming MOCs within one build you need highest building skills (and a degree in engineering). Transforming toys tend to look awkward in at least one possible form, but your MOC is totally cool in every way! Thanks, for sharing that with us!
  19. Thanks for the feedback! That's my first MOC that big, but it was fun to build (took nearly all of my light/dark bluish gray parts I own). Dammit! That darn thing spun around and I didn't notice it. The scorpion should represent a decorative lamp (when turned upside down), but I used the wrong parts to attach it... ah, well...
  20. Wonderful MOC, beautiful scene with a spot on characterization of Catwoman/Selina Kyle. The build is clean, elegant and fun. Good job!
  21. LI: "We have a problem, sir! Clayface escaped out of his containment area within our underground facility. Dr. Cael assumes that he reaches the surface at any moment. Our tests left his mental condition dangerously unstable. It's possible, that he runs amok." BLACK MASK: "Dammit! How is that possible?! This endangers our whole operation! A chaos like that is a Bat-magnet!" LI: "Sir, we've got a new report. Clayface surfaced right in in front of our building! GCPD units are engaging the creature as we speak!" BLACK MASK: "Enough! Send for Freeze! He must interrupt his project and catch Clayface before this desaster escalates further. Remind him that he is part of our operation and uses our resources. If we fail, so will he." LI: "I already contacted his lab, sir. He understands and is on his way." LI: "And our other guest, sir?" BLACK MASK: "Penguin has to wait. Be sure to make this delay as comfortable as possible for him. We need his cooperation." LI: "Of course, sir, as you wish." BLACK MASK: "And, Li?" LI: "Sir?" BLACK MASK: "Any more bad news and you'll be as dead as that blithering idiot Cael!" Meanwhile... In the dark back-alley of Black Mask's Tower a seemingly smaller but brutal crime is about to happen, when a drunk punk decides to smash the bones of a hapless bum just for fun. But this poor man is in luck - he has an unlikely feline guardian angel... Well, that's it. I hope, that it's ok, that I switched between interior and exterior views (everything pictured is within the MOC - I've build the building for easy access, so that my son and I can play with it, when I'm finished for the contest). I've always wanted to build a full Gotham building, so the contest was a welcome motivation. The story of the scene uses elements out of the background of the characters. In the comics Black Mask and Penguin were sometimes business partner, and Black Mask used Mr. Freeze as an enforcer once. So I merged those story elements into a background for my scene. I know, the quality of the pics is not the best, but my camera hates me, and although I'm quite intimidated of the quality entries so far, it was fun to build something for Lego Batman. Cheers!
  22. Thanks, for making that clear. :) Yes, eight pics are probable enough (even when switching between interior and exterior pics). I'll try to shoot the pics after I'm leaving off work today.
  23. I'm nearly finished with my entry and now I'm thinking how to take and arrange the pictures. Eight pics 800x600 are allowed (in addition to any linked pics). Is it allowed to post, for example, two 400x600 pics merged into one 800x600 picture (and still counting as one)? It would be easier that way to show some details while still reserving pic-slots for overviews from different angles. Right now I don't know if I'll use such double pics, I still have to take some trial and error pics with my junk camera before deciding how to present them.
  24. The amount of details in yor MOC impressive. Everything I would expect to see within ARKHAM is there - guard posts, searchlights, holding cells, even sewers (I like sewers - well, as a dramatic Gotham-like environment that is). Good entry!
  25. It's astounding how much information and effect one could squeeze into a tiny spot. That's a good realization of Mr. Freeze personality and driving obsession. Great lighting and great custom Freeze!
