  1. Einfach unglaublich! Ich fass es nicht - ein tolle Kunstwerk, ja! Das gehort in einem muzeum, auf jeden Fall! Mach weiter, Jasper Joppe! :)Du bist ein Genie! [simply unbelievable! I can not believe it - a great work of art, indeed! This belongs in a museum, definitely! Go on, Jasper Joppa! :) You're a genius!]
  2. Good God,'Leg Godt Gud'! What a pleasantly-looking busy city, tucked in some mountainous valley (made of attic-wood?) and looking christmassy every day! I like it.
  3. At first glance I thought the bag was a Jedi hood! Thanks for the review - succinct and clear shots. Will head down to Metrotown or possibly the TRU near Surrey for this.
  4. The price's a definite pinch in the wallet for sure. Although I'll take two of these IF two of these can be modified for a minifig-size tower-bridge layout. A friend stacked two Eiffel towers together and the result is impressive.

    Canadian Eh?

You can't miss it; it's on a stand-alone shelf together with some hoth battle packs and the Toy Story Army Men (which, by the way, was on discount at 9.99 or 10.99). It's facing the check-out counters and to the left when you enter the store, and just in front of the Nerf guns.

Well they're back on the shelves today just only at Metropolis TRU. I came, saw two fresh boxes, had NOBODY to compete with, and spent some fifteen good minutes to get one complete set. Talk about a stroke of good luck! Me happy!

    Canadian Eh?

I chanced upon two boxes of those minifig packets in TRU Metropolis in Vancouver. I was being polite to the couple who were ahead of me and hogging the shelf for quite some time, so I walked around, only to find all of them GONE later. Sheesh. BTW, the Lego city yellow truck is out in TRU Whalley today, just in case if anyone's looking for it.
  8. And why is it that you're still not reporting for duty to Billund yet? Ausgezeichnet!
  9. Wonder if anyone can photoshop all the modular buildings side by side with the emporium in it? Hmm.
  10. When I saw the review, almost immediately I knew I was going to write something about it. This castle was my first LEGO set that I can truly remember in all its glory. I was eight years old and did well enough in the final year exams in school that year. That very same evening after I showed them the report, Mum and Dad went out and brought home a big wrapped-up box; I ripped it open, and almost immediately stared beyond the crushed wrapping paper in a moment of child wonderment. I remembered happy hours building and rebuilding the castle for the nth times, and it even had a spot in the small tv cabinet for guests to gawk at - a historic moment, really, since it was really a toy - my LEGO - on the same pedestal as other significant paraphernalia. I was very proud of my built, but more so because it was such a big, visible set with so many minifigures. We moved houses a couple of times after that, and sadly the whole thing could have been thrashed out amidst other black bags of unwantedness. Thanks to this surprise of a review, I am going to scout around for this set, and hopefully relive those happy memories with another eight year-old kid this time around - my son. :) Eurobricks always make my day.
  11. EXCEPTIONALLY BRILLIANT. The buildings looked like they were churned out from seasoned hands down from the deep dungeons in Billund. Genius is really an understatement - you've nailed it, kind sir. These buildings are icons - proof that sublime artisans such as yourself exist to provide that extra dimension from the yearly modular sets. Which leads only to the next right thing : what about coming up with a step-by-step instructions for all of us? An inventory list would be great to start things off. I, for one, am shameless to admit that I intend to copy your buildings for my own esoteric brick-pleasure. Well done, sir! :)
  12. My first impression of the potted plants were a pair of overgrown cacti that would have left a prickly experience at the entrance. :) Either than that, the choice of colours were amazing - brown does really stand out in some surreal ways. Maybe you can put it beside GG (predominantly green) and MS (mostly blue) and see whether the overall setting is seamless. CC and FB should be placed further away from this department store - their brown elements will not do justice to your magnificient creation. Just my two cents.
  13. I knew it would only be a matter of time till someone posted a modular version of this. And I'm glad you did. :) It really is something. One more level with those full-height white windows, and I think we got a winner. The sloping roof might appear inconsistent besides other modular buildings though, but there's nothing that can't be fixed. Good job!
  14. Mine would a city set-up with an outdoor star wars museum featuring a tie fighter, an x-wing and landspeeder. There will be lots of stormtroopers with civilian heads walking around the place, and further up is the cinema from Town Plan screening the Original Trilogy, with a civilian-head Boba fett selling the tickets, and the royal guards guarding the entrance. The queue to the screening, of course, will be a mixture of all things aliens and humans - a wretched hive of scum and villainy. :)
  15. I think another variation of Market Street (same size but with a new colour scheme and architecture) would be a great temporary relief till another another big one ala-Fire-Brigade comes along. Lego, are you listening?
  16. We recently had a 2nd toy convention here in Singapore, and Lego was so kind as to bring in all the latest exclusives, including the Fire Brigade and lots of Market Streets! The boxes were on the shelves side-by-side, and looked pretty awesome actually (the buildings, not the boxes). I'd say GO FOR IT. Granted, it is a 'Factory' product, but it is still a modular set nonetheless. By the way, LEGO collectors in Singapore were having a field day for the whole three days of the convention - I believe we are the first in the world to have the FB released out on shelves - and the mountains of Market Streets as well. Well done, LEGO Singapore!
  17. And what is taking Billund so long to contact you? The next-after-next modular building from Lego might be your creation. Awesome work again, Teddy. You're too brick-cool.
  18. I completely understand this feeling. In fact, it's the only feeling I get when I see Lego. Thanks for clearing that up. If I was outstationed at Vancouver instead, I would have hopped over to Chicago and the scooters would be all mine. ALL MINE MWAHAHAHAHA! (evil laugh, of course).
  19. Now I have to get more red bricks and put aside all the yellow ones. Seriously, the arc on the front facade is phenomenal. Pure artistry. I'm beginning to notice recent works of geniuses like u and marcosbessas : light bluish gray and one other colour. The combination is subliminally enchanting. And oh, what happen to your other train station (the tan-coloured version)? Ok, now to break up my own Centraal Station. And get more red pieces. You Da Man.
  20. "Allong with a bunch of other accessories, I picked up the full set of scooters". I checked Brickforge and it's not there yet. How did you get them?
  21. Teddy, I am inspired by the front facade of your train station. I am contemplating a cross between yours and Amsterdam Central Station for my living room display. :)
  22. I think the recent debate of the fire station failing to supercede the expectations of many beyond the likes of CC and GG is simply due to the fact that when CC was first released, it was a totally new perspective on Lego's potential to create modular buildings unlike the classic set-ups, and not many AFOLs were into this. Not surprisingly, many new fan creations started appearing on the pages of many a Lego-philic sites, and the appearance of MS and GG simply fan on the flame of pushing new boundaries on building techniques, colour schemata and layout styles. In short, we were always surpassing our expectations for Lego's new arrivals, and it wasn't a surprise that this fire station had a mixed reaction to its built, simply because most AFOLS has been there and done that. My two cents really. Will I buy it? Maybe. Or I'll get another CC or GG. That's how I see it.
  23. Just curious, because I just did mine. It was a completed modified double-decker version from the 4755 Harry Potter Knight Bus in my grasp, proudly showing it to my son, and next thing I knew, the pieces lay scattered all over the floor. My wife thought it was simply smashing. Oh well. It's a small project, so there won't be much of a problem to fix it up. Has anyone here dropped anything significant to their Lego-ing passion, and share their post-traumatic experiences?
  24. Azmean, Hats off to you for turning that baseplate into actually something useful. That's high creativity, dude. :-) Now I know what to do with my 7419 baseplate. *sweet*
  25. The vintage tan car...hmm..Indy and Dad will fit in just nice. :-)
