  1. I was looking forward to this set but it is a little on the small size.. I picked up a second set on ebay without the minifigures for $22 and added a few more random parts (like some 1x1 bricks and barrels, 2 skeletons, a cat, a horse..not much more) and built it to be a little more substantial.. still have lots of parts left over.. I know the light grey add-ons are out of place.. its what I had laying around. I'll replace them with better colors as I get parts..
  2. Toys R US has already sold out of all sets that were available to order online...
  3. I'm a little slow.. just noticed something: 9469 Gandalf Arrives 9470 Shelob Attacks 9471 Uruk-Hai Army 9472 Attack on Weathertop 9473 The Mines of Moria 9474 The Battle of Helm’s Deep 9476 The Orc Forge Any idea why 9475 is missing?
  4. ummm... 7 :) Just getting back in, my kids have way more than me~
  5. Thats cool.. I like that black dragon~
  6. The new figures are mostly great.. I do hope the fix Galdalf a bit (staff/hair) I guess I wish Gollum had more of a molded head like some of the StarWars figures.. (think Wald or Sebulba..pretty detailed and accurate to the movies) No matter what the final versions are, I'll be in for all the sets. Can't wait~ I know its early for 'The Hobbit" discussion but just for consideration.. Here's the cast of dwarves from the movie.. I look forward to how Lego makes them~ (link to huge version) http://www.blackfilm.com/read/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/The-Hobbit-13-Dwarves.jpg
  7. Well I visited the Lego store in Burlington Massachusetts yesterday afternoon.. Never been in an actual Lego store before.. Man they pack a lot of stuff into a relatively small space. While I was packing my cup the employees were scurrying around preparing for somebody important to visit the store, making sure the displays were good, the floor was swept etc. A short while later 2 men came in and they were walking around talking with the store Manager.. When they got out back where I was one of them introduced himself as Eric and asked me a few questions about myself, how long I've liked Legos, if I had kids and what they liked about Legos, and we talked about the upcoming LOTR sets. He was pretty surprised I knew so much about them (thanks Eurobricks LOL) We spoke for about 5 minutes then they moved on to out back and I finished packing my cup. When I checked out, the person that rang me up said I got to give good feedback to a 'really high up the chain' guy.. Said he was a Director of Marketing or something like that for Lego USA. At any rate, here's my cup and what I ended up with~ and the count: 1x2 textured white = 39 1x2 white = 27 1x3 white = 31 2x2 white = 48 1x8 white tiles = 31 1x2 textured grey = 32 2x2 black = 32 1x4 black = 91 1x8 black tiles = 7 1x4 brown tiles = 76 1x1 round orange = 68 1x1 round trans red = 93 1x1 round trans blue = 49 1x1 trans red tile = 178 Total 802 EDITED to add.. Because I'm a geek I went to Lego.com and filled my basket from the pick a brick section with these exact parts to see what an online order would have cost for these same things.. Total? $99.08 plus shipping
  8. This is just a 35 second video of my son Cooper.. He spins some donuts in a power wheels type car I bumped up to 18 volts.. I took this video when he was 3 years old.. He's a natural LOL (the last 15 seconds are especially good)
  9. Read carefully.. The HOBBIT sets will not come out till after the movie.. in early 2013. The LOTR sets should be out by August of this year~
  10. I have to go to Boston tomorrow for a meeting.. Think I'll swing through Burlington on my way back and hit the Lego store at the Mall there.. Never been to a Lego store before, will be fun to pack a cup and see what I can fit ~
  11. I'm a fan of the BBC program Top Gear and the day I was signing up on the forum here my 8 year old and I were going through a large lot of Legos we got on Craigslist. One of the minifigures was a ghost and he took off the glow in the dark part and said "This would make a good Stig".. I agreed and we found a white helmet and a black head to get the look close to right.. so, when I signed up, Stig it was~
  12. I just made that picture my desktop background LOL.. Fantastic! My wife walked in and literally gasped.. then announced that we HAVE to get all the sets that come out for this series. First time she's ever said anything like that :) I think Gimli looks the best, but they are all must haves~
  13. LOL.. I am in the same boat. At least 25 years with no Legos and now I've got a couple thousand with more coming.. She just shook her head when she saw the first batch :)
  14. Maybe it travels around? I know it wasn't at this store a couple months ago when I was there~
  15. I stopped at Toys R Us in Newington NH to get a gift and when I walked through the front door I was greeted by this~ It had a card saying it took 170 hours to build and took over 21,000 parts.
  16. Hi everyone, My name is Kev and I live in New Hampshire with my wife and 2 boys (8 & 6). I'm 47 and its been many many years since I played with Legos :) My kids have a few Star Wars things (building the pod racer set this Christmas was fun) and they like the Ninjago stuff too. My return to legos is mostly because of the Hobbit and LOTR.. I was lead here to this forum while searching for info on the upcoming releases, very excited about them. So many MOCs I found centered around them.. (I even learned what MOCs are LOL, I never knew) I of course got the itch to build something so I'm gathering parts for my own attempt at a MOC. I found BrickLink (much to the dismay of my credit card) and also scored a couple large Craigslist lots.. Cant wait to start.. Hopefully at some point I'll have something worthy of posting here~ In the mean time, I sure am enjoying seeing what other people are doing with Legos.. (that 'Medieval Village' turorial is just jaw dropping) Have a great day, Kev
