  1. Thanks for the review.. My 30th birthday is next month and I was torn between this, the Death Star and the Imperial Shuttle.. Eventually I hope to get all of them :D But I guess that the SSD can wait for now.
  2. How much time did it take for your order to be delivered (through the lost parts service - UK)? It has been nearly two weeks...
  3. I'm planning to have a "blog coverage" of this gargantuan project. I'm still waiting to receive the first shipment of the rare pieces from TLG directly. I'm not really sure if I can start to build something straight away. Maybe the technics frame if there is one (I have not yet had a look at the instructions). Once I do I'll let you know.
  4. I'd add a "Vs UK" to the topic title too.. UK Y U NO join the Euro? :D I know that now is not the right time to say this.. but it's one of the things that saddens me the most since i moved to the UK from Italy.. then again if i'd stayed there i'd be unemployed by now...
  5. Hi, it seems I cannot access the forums. It's not like my network is preventing me to even load the site.. The eurobricks layout loads just fine but it doesn't allow to sign in and it displays that error. It seems more like my IP range is blocked. If I use a web proxy, I can access it without problems but it's slower.. Can anything be done at all?
  6. I was tempted to buy some rare pieces from the US - i live in the UK. Does anyone know if there are customs taxes to be paid on international letters too?
  7. Mmm that would be not cool! Well it's too late now.. I'll report back once I get the pieces.
  8. I just spoke on the phone with the lady from TLG. I also inquired whether they still have the mini-antennas and well, they do. She said that nowadays they have a different part number or something along those lines but I had her add all 60 of them. That increased the order by £10 or so. Well now I have to find the radar dish somewhere.. She also said that I should buy the Super Star Destroyer now and save it for later :D
  9. I got the right quote this time.. I added close to 500 pieces (or more probably) and the price was around 165£. I added the bricks that according to bricklink are in short supply in Europe. Did you proceed in the same fashion or did you just try to order the rarest pieces (like the dish, the mast-ladder thing)?
  10. Yesterday evening I spent at least two hours adding nearly 500 pieces (all the ones I saw were quite rare in the EU on bricklink) then I received two emails.. One had a price quote, the other more recent email said that it could take two weeks to check whether they still have the pieces. I think the first one could be related to my previous attempt using the "missing parts" service instead of the "lost part" one. They seem to have different IDs. I just tried to call the 00800 number but it does not seem to work, I just hear a constant beep noise..
  11. Yes by "good" I mean well stocked.. At least you people DO have toy sales :) They are unheard of in Italy.. Some months ago my local toy store still had a Tantive IV at about 190 euros! I'll see what I'll be able to find along the way.. Is it the same in Manchester?
  12. I moved last year from Italy to Lancaster.. I have yet to see a good toy shop in the area.. Does anyone have any advice? I was planning to go this saturday to Liverpool for some regular shopping and a visit to the Lego store. What other stores should I visit while I am there?
  13. That was my error, I used the "missing parts" option instead of the "lost parts" one. Looks like I'll have to enjoy more fun-filled "plus" button clicking time! What happens in this situation? Do they give you the option of getting them in another colour?
  14. I remember the z-95 from the computer game X-Wing Alliance: The game made you fly that for the first set of missions, before handing you an X-Wing :)
  15. Guys I need some help! I just got a reply from Lego. It looks like an automatic message.. They said that since there are so many missing pieces, I should get back to the shop and swap it for a new one.. Riiiiiiight. Truth be told, I did ask for over one hundred pieces (the sixty levers, wedges, technics long bricks, etc). So what should I tell them? Should I ask for a price quote? What if they ask me the serial number? Will a blatant lie suffice? Thanks
  16. I just sent a request of the rarest parts using Lego's missing parts service. How long does it take for them to reply usually? I also asked for the levers so if they are in stock I'll report back. But where exactly are they used in the model?
  17. I'll add my vote for a Mon Calamari Cruiser and the Nebula-B Class Frigate.. Especially the Mon Calamari, that has never been seen before!
  18. Hi there, after reading this thread (and coming out of my "dark ages") I realized I'd like to undertake this project too! My first step should then be to try and check through the Lego replacement program which of the rarest brick are available. I should try to see if I can find the dish, the masts, the lego technics 1x16 and the 47 antennas (!). Is there anything else? Also since I live close to the Liverpool Lego store (well £16 return trip-close) and since I'll also probably go there in the coming weeks to do some shopping I was thinking of stopping by the store.. I think they sell some loose bricks there. Would it be cheaper to go there and grab all useful bricks? Does anyone know if the prices they have in store are cheaper than those of the online retailers? Thanks!
